Claims
- 1. A fold-as-you-eat multi-purpose food-serving apparatus, comprising:
a food-supporting member consisting of a material sized, and having sufficient rigidity, to serve and support at least one food-item thereon, said food-supporting member having at least one food-retaining portion integrally formed adjacent thereto which extends upward, relative to a food-supporting surface of said member, in a manner which increases the rigidity of the food-supporting member, and
said portion(s) is sized, having sufficient rigidity, to facilitate the retention of said food-item(s) on the food-supporting member; said food-supporting member having
at least one bendable cross-section extending across a width of the member to predispose bending of the member at said bendable cross-section(s); said food-retaining portion(s) having
at least one reduced-cross-section located tangent to an end of said bendable cross-section(s) to predispose bending of said portion(s) at said reduced-cross-section(s), such that
a simultaneous bending of a bendable cross-section and at least one adjacent reduced-cross-section causes at least one segment of the apparatus to be bent away from said food-item(s) to fully expose a portion of the food for eating.
- 2. A fold-as-you-eat multi-purpose food-serving apparatus substantially sized and shaped to that of the size, area and perimeter of at least one food-item intended to be served thereon, comprising:
a food-supporting member consisting of a material sized, and having sufficient rigidity, to serve and support said food-item(s) thereon, said food-supporting member having at least one food-retaining portion integrally formed adjacent thereto which extends upward, relative to a food-supporting surface of said member, in a manner which increases the rigidity of the food-supporting member, and
said portion(s) is sized, having sufficient rigidity, to facilitate the retention of said food-item(s) on the food-supporting member; said food-supporting member having
at least one bendable cross-section extending across a width of the member; said food-retaining portion(s) having at least one reduced-cross-section located tangent to an end of said bendable cross-section(s) to predispose bending of said portion(s) at said reduced-cross-section(s), and the combination of said food-supporting member and said food-retaining portion(s) providing
i. an apparatus rigidity sufficient to support said food-item(s) when the apparatus is held at one end by a user, and ii. an apparatus pliability which accommodates the bending and unbending of the apparatus a plurality of times; whereby the simultaneous bending of a bendable cross-section and at least one adjacent reduced-cross-section allows a user to selectively bend at least one segment of said food-supporting member away from said food-items(s) supported on said food-supporting member in a manner that does not significantly alter the presentation of the food, and fully exposes a portion of said food-item(s) to facilitate the eating of the exposed food portion.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said apparatus rigidity and said pliability facilitate a rapid userreshaping of a user-bent apparatus, to a substantially unbent previous condition, to provide for a quick setting down of the apparatus in a resting position, as desired.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein said apparatus material is sufficient in said rigidity and said pliability to facilitate a rapid user-reshaping of a user-unbent apparatus, to a previous bent condition, which provides for a quick resumption of the eating of the food-item(s) served on the apparatus.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said bendable cross-section(s) and said reduced-cross-section(s) are positioned on said apparatus, and are positioned relative to one another, to provide for a rapid user-reshaping of a user-bent apparatus, to a substantially unbent previous condition, and facilitate a quick setting down of the apparatus in a resting position, as desired.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said bendable cross-section(s) and said reduced-cross-section(s) are positioned on said apparatus, and are positioned relative to one another, in a manner which facilitates
a rapid user-reshaping of a user-unbent apparatus, to a previous bent condition, to provide a quick resumption of the eating of the food-item(s) served on the apparatus.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein much of the original rigidity of said apparatus before it is employed, is regained subsequent to at least one user-bending of the apparatus, by the user re-creasing the apparatus such that said at least one food-retaining portion(s) is substantially returned to its original upward extending position.
- 8. A method of re-using the apparatus of claim 1 after it has been bent by a user such that a rigidity approximating that of an unused apparatus is achieved, by the step of:
1. said user re-creasing the apparatus such that any food-retaining portion(s) previously bent by a user is substantially returned to its original upward extending condition.
- 9. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material suitable for use in a dishwasher.
- 10. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material suitable for use in a dishwasher and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated washings.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated washings and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated bending.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated bending and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 15. The apparatus of claim 13 wherein said apparatus is made of flexible plastic material.
- 16. The apparatus of claim 14 wherein said lid of said apparatus is made of flexible plastic material.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated washings.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material which readily tolerates repeated washings and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material suitable for use in a microwave oven.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material suitable for use in a microwave oven and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 21. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material suitable for use in a heating device.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material suitable for use in a heating device and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of material suitable for storage in a refrigeration device.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of material suitable for storage in a refrigeration device and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of recycled material.
- 26. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of recycled material and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 27. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is further comprised of biodegradable material.
- 28. The apparatus of claim 1 further comprising a lid which is comprised of biodegradable material and which, interacts with said apparatus to cover said food-item(s) until the food is served, and until said lid is lifted away from the food.
- 29. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is round in shape.
- 30. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is substantially semi-circular in shape to accommodate the serving of food selected from the group consisting of tacos, calzones, hamburgers, sandwiches and pita sandwiches.
- 31. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is elliptical in shape.
- 32. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is oval in shape.
- 33. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is ovoidal in shape.
- 34. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is triangular in shape to accommodate the serving of food selected from the group consisting of triangular shaped pizza, pie, dessert, and quiche.
- 35. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is rectangular in shape.
- 36. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the food-supporting member of said apparatus is asymmetrical in shape.
- 37. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is shaped to slideably fit into, and be easily removed from, a food dispensing compartment of a vending machine.
- 38. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the height of at least one of said food-retaining portion(s) extending upward from said food-supporting member is approximately the height of the food-item(s) intended to be served on the apparatus.
- 39. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the height of at least one of said food-retaining portion(s) extending upward from said food-supporting member is;
a.) approximately the height of the food-item(s) served on the apparatus, and b.) at least one of said food-retaining portions is sized to extend over a part of said food-item(s) and is positionable by a user over an upper part thereof, c.) to facilitate the retention of said food-item(s) on said apparatus when a lower and upper surface of said apparatus are held between at least two digits of a user's hand, and d.) to facilitate a holding of the fold-as-you-eat apparatus and any food-items served thereon, as desired, with one hand.
- 40. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the height of at least one of said food-retaining portion(s) extending upward from said food-supporting member is;
a.) approximately the height of the food-item(s) intended to be served on the apparatus, and b.) a food-retention tab is integrally formed tangent to, and extending forward from, an end of said food-retaining portion such that the combination of said portion and said tab are positionable by a user to position said tab over an upper part of said food-item(s),
i.) to facilitate the retention of said food-item(s) on said apparatus when a lower surface of said apparatus and an upper surface of said tab are held between at least two digits of a user's hand, and ii.) to facilitate a holding of the fold-as-you-eat apparatus and any food-items served thereon, as desired, with one hand.
- 41. The food-retaining portion and food-retention tab of claim 40 wherein said portion and said tab are comprised of a flexible material different from that of the rest of the apparatus and an end of said flexible material is attached to an end of said apparatus by suitable attachment means.
- 42. The food-retaining portion and food-retention tab of claim 40 wherein said portion and said tab are comprised of the same material as the rest of the apparatus but have been subjected to a different manufacturing process which reduces their stiffness.
- 43. The food-retaining portion of claim 38 further comprising a plurality of reduced-cross-sections to facilitate a multiple-bending of said portion at said reduced-cross-sections.
- 44. The food-retaining portion of claim 39 further comprising a plurality of reduced-cross-sections to facilitate a multiple-bending of said portion at said reduced-cross-sections.
- 45. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein a user-positioning of said food-retaining portion and said food-retention tab facilitates a retention of said food-item(s) on said apparatus in a manner that allows a user to eat the served food without requiring the user to contact the food with the fingers of the hand holding the apparatus.
- 46. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein a user-positioning of said food-retaining portion and said food-retention tab facilitates a retention of said food-item(s) on said apparatus in a manner that allows a user to eat the served food without requiring the user to adjust the food with his or her fingers.
- 47. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein a user-positioning of at least one of said segment fully exposes said food-item(s) on said apparatus in a manner that allows a user to eat the served food without requiring the user to contact the food with the fingers of the hand bending the apparatus.
- 48. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein a user-positioning of at least one of said segment fully exposes said food-item(s) on said apparatus in a manner that allows a user to eat the served food without requiring the user to adjust the food with the fingers of the hand bending the apparatus.
- 49. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus serves as an exhibiting means having discernible content.
- 50. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus serves as an exhibiting means having observer-discernible content.
- 51. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus serves as an exhibiting means having user-discernible content.
- 52. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein at least one surface area thereof provides a reveal-as-you-eat perspective to a user during the eating of food served on said apparatus such that, when said content is initially covered with one or more food-items, the content will be revealed to the user proportionate to the degree of said food-item(s) eaten.
- 53. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein said at least one surface area thereof provides a view-as-you-eat perspective of said content to a user during the process of eating food served on said apparatus.
- 54. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein said at least one surface area thereof provides a close proximity perspective of said content to a user while the user is holding said apparatus.
- 55. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein said at least one surface area thereof provides a close proximity perspective of said content to a user when said apparatus is in a resting position.
- 56. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein said at least one surface area thereof provides a close proximity perspective of said content to at least one nearby observer when said apparatus is in a resting position.
- 57. The apparatus of claim 49 wherein said at least one surface area(s) thereof provides substantially uninterrupted, multi-minute, exposures of said discernible content.
- 58. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus serves as an exhibiting means having discernible content thereon.
- 59. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein at least one portion of said tab has discernible content thereon and is positionable in close proximity into the field of view of a user, when:
a.) the user is about to take a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus, and b.) when the user is taking a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus.
- 60. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein at least one portion of said tab is employed as a close proximity exhibiting means to display printed content thereon.
- 61. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein at least one surface portion of said tab is employable as a close proximity exhibiting means to display discernable content and said content is right-side up from said user's perspective providing a view-as-you-eat perspective, when:
a.) a user is about to take a bite out of said food-item(s), and b.) when a user is taking a bite out of said food-item(s).
- 62. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein at least one surface of said tab is employed as an exhibiting means to display discernable content to those located proximate to said tab when a user puts the food-serving apparatus in a resting position.
- 63. The apparatus of claim 62 wherein said tab, being substantially parallel to the surface upon which said apparatus is resting, is readily viewable from surrounded vantage points around said tab, such that the context of any of said discernible content appearing thereon remains unobstructed, versus the content and context that becomes partially or fully obstructed on the non-visible side of a beverage cup, can or beverage cup advertising sleeve.
- 64. The apparatus of claim 62 whereby an improved food-service advertising medium is provided wherein said tab, being substantially parallel to the surface upon which said apparatus is resting, is readily viewable from surrounded vantage points around said tab, such that the context of any of said discernible content appearing thereon remains unobstructed, versus the content and context that becomes partially or fully obstructed on the non-visible side of a beverage cup, can or beverage cup advertising sleeve.
- 65. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface of a plurality of said food-retaining portion(s) tab is employed as an exhibiting means to display discernable content to those located proximate to said tab when a user puts the food-serving apparatus in a resting position.
- 66. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein at least one surface of said food-retaining portion and at least one surface of said tab is employed as an exhibiting means to display discernable content to those located proximate to said portion and said tab when a user holds the food-serving apparatus.
- 67. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein said at least one area of said tab, has user-discernible content and observer-discernible content thereon and is positionable by a user in close proximity into the field of view of the user, when:
a.) the user is about to take a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus, and b.) when the user is taking a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus.

- 133. The apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus rigidity provides a means to serve food, typically eaten with two hands, in a manner having substantially a one-handed functionality, wherein
the served food in said apparatus is supported during the eating process by one hand at one end of the apparatus in a manner not requiring said one hand to touch said food as the food is being eaten.
- 134. The apparatus of claim 133 wherein an improved food-serving method is provided which eliminates a step formerly requiring a user to have to pick up food from a food-serving apparatus in order to eat the served food.

The apparatus of claim 133 wherein an improved food-serving method is provided which eliminates a step formerly requiring a user to have to pick up food from a food-serving apparatus in order to eat the served food, and thereby also provides a drive-as-you-eat food-serving capability similar to that of a ‘Take-Out’ or ‘Drive-Thru’ food group including hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.

The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a drive-as-you-eat food-serving capability similar to that provided by served food from a ‘Take-Out’ or ‘Drive-Thru’ food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.

The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a drive-as-you-eat food-serving transportability similar to that provided by served food from a ‘Take-Out’ or ‘Drive-Thru’ food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.
- 138. The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a portability similar to that provided by served food from a food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.

The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a restaurant chain the capability of serving at least one new ‘Take-Out’ food item which, formerly did not have a food-eating convenience similar to that provided by served food from a ‘Take-Out’ food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.

The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a restaurant chain the capability of serving at least one new ‘Drive-Thru’ food item which, formerly did not have a food-eating convenience similar to that provided by served food from a ‘Drive-Thru’ food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.
- 141. The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a walk-as-you-eat food-serving capability similar to that provided by served food from a food group including, hamburgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, breakfast items, and dessert items.
- 142. The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a user an opportunity to hold at least one napkin in the user's other hand.
- 143. The apparatus of claim 133 wherein said one-handed functionality of said apparatus provides a user an opportunity to hold a beverage in the user's other hand.

- 162. The apparatus of claim 40 wherein an improved food-serving method is provided which eliminates a step formerly requiring a user to have to pick up a pizza crust in order to eat it, wherein
a portion of said pizza crust is slideably held and aligned beneath a lower surface of said food-retention tab and an upper surface of a rearmost portion of said food-supporting member such that said crust can be bit and pulled sideways relative to said apparatus to extend past the end of said tab in a manner that
a.) exposes an unobstructed length of the crust which can be eaten, and b.) does not require the user to touch the crust.

the separation of said member tab allows the bending of said food-retaining portion around the contour of a user's forehead, and the separation and bending forward of said portion tab(s) secures said food-supporting member of said apparatus in a visor-bill like fashion.

The apparatus of claim 205 wherein said visor is further comprised of a food-supporting member having a plurality of segments adjoined by at least one reduced cross-section each spanning a width of said food-supporting member, such that a separation of at least one segment at a reduced cross-section permits a user to selectively choose a desired length of said visor-bill.
- 207. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising instructions in at least one language indicating to a user how at least one of said apparatus is configured to create a toy.
- 208. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising instructions in at least one language indicating to a user how at least one of said apparatus is configured to create a flyable airplane.

- 215. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising instructions in at least one language indicating to a user how said apparatus is to be bent in order to position at least one positionable segment of said apparatus away from food that is about to eaten by said user.
- 216. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 wherein said apparatus is foldable in a configuration which prevents contact of the food-supporting surface of the apparatus with a user's fingers.
- 217. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising instructions in at least one language indicating to a user how to fold said apparatus in a layered configuration to prevent contact of the food-supporting surface of the apparatus with the user's fingers.
- 218. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising at least one food-supporting member segment having quick-fastening means for positioning and retaining at least one folded segment of said apparatus:
a.) away from food that is about to be eaten by a user, and b.) proximate to a surface of said food-supporting member.
- 219. The quick-fastening means of claim 218 further comprising at least food-supporting member segment having at least one tab that is sized and shaped to fit within at least one slot located within at least one food-supporting member, such that
when a segment(s) of said member is positioned by a user, said tab(s) is extendable therefrom for engagement into said (slot(s), to retain said segment(s) proximate to a lower surface of said member.
- 220. The apparatus of claim 218 further comprising at least one food-supporting member segment having an adhesive seal with a suitable size and shape to readily adhere to a surface of at least one food-supporting member.
- 221. The adhesive seal of claim 220 further comprising a peel-off material that covers said seal until it is removed by a user.
- 222. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 218 wherein said quick-fastening means is comprised of a hook-and-loop material wherein
said at least one food-supporting member segment surface has a hook material adjoined thereto suitably sized and shaped to readily adhere to a food-supporting member surface having a similarly sized and shaped loop material adjoined thereto.
- 223. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 218 further comprising instructions in at least one language describing how a user can fold said apparatus and employ said quick-fastening means.
- 224. The apparatus of claim 2 wherein at least one surface area of said tab is further comprised of a coupon which is positionable in close proximity into the field of view of a user, when:
a.) the user is about to take a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus, and b.) when the user is taking a bite out of said food-item(s) supported by said apparatus.
- 225. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1, wherein at least one of said apparatus is configurable by a user into a fan.
- 226. The fan of claim 225 wherein at least one edge of each of a plurality of said apparatus are adjoined to at least one other edge of an adjacent apparatus by suitable attachment means.
- 227. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1, wherein two of said apparatus are configurable by a user into a noise-maker by said user:
a.) aligning said two apparatus together and adjoining all but one of the sides thereof using suitable sealing means, b.) conveying a multiplicity of small hard elements through an opening between the yet- c.) to-be sealed side, and then d.) sealing the open side.
- 228. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising an attachable lid, wherein
1. a plan view dimension of said lid is substantially sized and shaped to the size and shape of said food-supporting surface and said lid has at least one outward-extending tab located on a lower edge of at least one lid side wall; 2. said apparatus has at least one slot located in at least one food-retaining portion; and 3. said tab(s) of said lid is inserted into said slot(s) by a user to secure the lid to said apparatus.
- 229. The apparatus of claim 228 wherein said lid further comprises a quick-release napkin-securing means to temporarily hold at least one napkin in an upper region of said lid until the napkin(s) is removed by a user.
- 230. The apparatus of claim 228 wherein said lid further comprises a pocket as a napkin-securing means to temporarily hold at least one napkin in an upper region of said lid until the napkin(s) is removed by a user.
- 231. The apparatus of claim 229 wherein said napkin is substantially sized and shaped to the size and shape of an upper region of said lid.
- 232. The apparatus of claim 228 wherein said lid is made of a material having sufficient rigidity to stack numerous lid-equipped apparatus each containing at least one food item, on top of one another.

The apparatus of claim 227 wherein said lid is further comprised of at least one rearward-facing slot which is sized and shaped to receive at least one food-retention tab such that when said tab(s) is inserted into said slot(s), said lid is further secured in a closed position until said tab(s) is removed.
- 234. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 further comprising at least one slit through the apparatus material to create a pinch zone allowing one or more portions of the apparatus to bend more easily nearest to said slit(s).
- 235. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus is further comprised of a susceptor material to facilitate cooking of said food-item(s) in a microwave oven.
- 235. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 wherein at least one surface area of said apparatus is further comprised of a susceptor material to facilitate cooking of said food-item(s) in a heating device.
- 236. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 227 wherein at least one surface area of said lid is further comprised of a susceptor material to facilitate cooking of said food-item(s) in a microwave oven.
- 237. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 227 wherein at least one surface area of said lid is further comprised of a susceptor material to facilitate cooking of said food-item(s) in a heating device.
- 237. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 227 wherein the combination of said lid, said food-item(s) and said apparatus are sealed within a wrapper material and said wrapper material is suitable for use in a refrigeration device.

The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1, wherein said food-supporting member has a plurality of bendable cross-sections aligned with reduced-cross-sections to provide a user-selectable bending of said food-supporting member at any combination of said bendable cross-section and adjacent said reduced-cross-section(s).
- 239. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 wherein said food-retaining portion(s) increase food retention and food sanitation particularly in public places.
- 240. The multi-purpose food-serving apparatus of claim 1 wherein said food-retaining portion(s) increase food retention and reduces the staining of surfaces that said apparatus sits on relative to apparatus not having the food-retaining portions.
- 241. A view-as-you-eat multi-purpose food-serving apparatus, comprising:
a food-supporting member consisting of a material sized, and having sufficient rigidity, to serve and support at least one food-item thereon, said food-supporting member having at least one food-retaining portion integrally formed adjacent thereto which extends upward, relative to a food-supporting surface of said member, in a manner which increases the rigidity of the food-supporting member, and
said portion(s) is sized, having sufficient rigidity, to facilitate the retention of said food-item(s) on the food-supporting member; said food-supporting member having
at least one bendable cross-section extending across a width of the member to predispose bending of the member at said bendable cross-section(s); said food-retaining portion(s) having
at least one reduced-cross-section located tangent to an end of said bendable cross-section(s) to predispose bending of said portion(s) at said reduced-cross-section(s), such that
a simultaneous bending of a bendable cross-section and at least one adjacent reduced-cross-section causes at least one segment of the apparatus to be bent away from said food-item(s) to fully expose a portion of the food for eating.
- 242. The MPFSA of claim 1 further comprising a method for increasing food-serving apparatus advertising exposures and decreasing advertising verification procedures, comprising the steps of:
1. acquiring a market penetration of at least one MPFSA type; 2. selling advertising at rates relative to: 3. said market penetration, 4. the area of advertising coverage on at least one surface of said MPFSA, and 5. relative to its measurable increased discernible-content exposure times, its close-proximity exposure times and its increases in content exposure times during hand-to-mouth movements; 6. eliminating the need for a substantial number of personnel to regularly monitor a large number of venues to verify and ensure actual use of food-serving apparatus and advertising appearing thereon,
by means of a written agreement between a MPFSA supplier and business entity operating at least one venue which receives MPFSA, wherein said agreement stipulates:
the number of units ordered per at least one specified venue during a specified time period; that units of said MPFSA received by said venue(s) are to be employed exclusively for serving at least one specified food-item.
- 243. The method of claim 242 further comprising the step of a MPFSA supplier verifying that the number of MPFSA:
1. received by said at least one specified venue, 2. during said specified time period, 3. for exclusively serving said at least one specified food-item, is proportionate to a number of food-serving apparatus units typically needed for such venue(s) during such a period, for such food-item(s).
- 244. The method of claim 242 further comprising the step of a MPFSA having discernible content pertaining to at least one retail product which, in addition to said food-item(s), is also sold at the same venue location by said business entity.
- 245. The method of claim 242 further comprising the step of a MPFSA having discernible content pertaining to at least one service which, in addition to said food-item(s), is also provided at the same venue location by said business entity.
- 246. The MPFSA of claim 1 further comprising a method for substantially increasing the profit margins generated by food-serving apparatus, comprising the steps of:
1. acquiring a market penetration of at least one MPFSA type; 2. selling advertising at rates relative to: 3. said market penetration, 4. the area of advertising coverage on at least one surface of said MPFSA, and 5. relative to its measurable increased discernible-content exposure times, its close-proximity exposure times and its increases in content exposure times during hand-to-mouth movements; 6. eliminating the need for a substantial number of personnel to regularly monitor a large number of venues to verify and ensure actual use of food-serving apparatus and advertising appearing thereon,
by means of a written agreement between a MPFSA supplier and business entity operating at least one venue which receives MPFSA, wherein said agreement stipulates:

- 247. The method of claim 246 further comprising the step of a MPFSA having discernible content pertaining to at least one retail product which, in addition to said food-item(s), is also sold at the same venue location by said business entity.
- 248. The method of claim 246 further comprising the step of a MPFSA having discernible content pertaining to at least one service which, in addition to said food-item(s), is also provided at the same venue location by said business entity.
