Claims
- 1. A multilayered composite article of manufacture comprising
- (i) a prepreg containing layer,
- (ii) a lightweight, highly conductive metallic wire screen or foil layer, and
- (iii) a sheet of lightweight carrier fabric containing (a) on one side a coating of a highly filled, thermoset resin in which the fillerwith a filler volume loading of from 5-10 percent comprises a multimodal combination of filler particles having different median particle diameters, and (b) on the other side, an adhesive joining the carrier fabric to layer (ii); and wherein the layers are interbonded.
- 2. The article of claim I wherein the filler particles comprise a combination of one or more of asymmetrical, angular and spherical shaped particles.
- 3. The article of claim i wherein the thermoset resin is obtained by the cure of an epoxy resin.
- 4. The article of claim 1 wherein the highly conductive metallic wire screen or foil layer is made of copper, aluminum, nickel or silver.
- 5. The article of claim 4 wherein the thermoset resin is obtained by the cure of an epoxy resin.
- 6. The article of claim 4 wherein the highly conductive metallic wire screen or foil layer weighs from 0.01 psf to 0.08 psf.
- 7. The article of claim 1 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
- 8. The article of claim 2 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
- 9. The article of claim 3 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
- 10. The article of claim 4 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
- 11. The article of claim 5 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
- 12. The composite of claim 6 wherein the carrier fabric is a nonwoven fabric.
