Claims
- 1. A method for forming a wound capacitor comprising:engaging a solid core aluminum cathode foil end with a mandrel and spiral winding said cathode foil end for at least about one turn about the central axis of said winding; interleaving a solid core aluminum anode foil end between opposing layers of said turned winding of said solid core aluminum cathode foil after about said first turn, and progressively interleaving a plurality of porous anode foils between the resulting opposing solid core aluminum anode foil layer and solid core aluminum cathode foil layered spiral winding.
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein a first dielectric separator layer end, is also engaged by said mandrel and said dielectric layer is spiral wound in layered arrangement against a surface of said cathode foil end.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein a second dielectric separator layer end, is arranged against an opposite surface of said cathode foil, said dielectric setptor layers sandwiching said cathode foil and being spiral wound with said cathode foil.
- 4. The method of claim 3 wherein said anode foils are interleaved between adjacent spiral wound separator layers.
