Claims
- 1. An electrode support structure comprising at least two spline leaves, each spline leaf being formed of a single aenerally flat sheet of material and comprising an opposed pair of spline elements connected by a center web, each spline element having a terminal end spaced from the web, each web including a hole through the thickness of the web generally equidistant from the terminal ends -of the respective spline leaf,
- a pin assembly extending through the holes of each of said webs to thereby join the webs of the spline leaves in a mutually stacked relationship with the spline elements radiating from the pin assembly in a circumferentially spaced relationship, said spline elements each having one or more electrodes mounted thereon, and
- a hub member over-molded about the pin assembly. said hub member having a central axis, each of said sDline elements extending generally perpendicularly from the axis of said hub.
- 2. A support structure according to claim 1 wherein the spline elements flex relative to the center web,
- and further including a base member joined to the terminal ends of each of the spline elements at a fixed distance from said Din assembly sufficient to cause said spline elements to flex into a three dimensional shape.
- 3. A structure according to claim 1 wherein the pin assembly is swages to hold the spline leaves together.
- 4. A structure according to claim 1 wherein each spline element includes a region of reduced width near the web.
- 5. A structure according to claim 1 wherein each spline element includes a region of reduced thickness near the web.
- 6. A structure according to claim 1 wherein each spline element has a rectilinear cross section.
- 7. A catheter comprising
- a guide tube having a distal end, and
- an electrode support structure according to claim 1 carried at the distal end of the guide tube.
- 8. A catheter according to claim 7 and further including a sleeve slidable along the guide tube between a first position spaced away from the support structure and a second position surrounding and collapsing the support structure.
