Abstract
A multiple vehicle parking system including a housing having a generally rectangular configuration. The housing has a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed side walls, an open forward face, and an open rearward face. The open forward face and the open rearward face each have a support matrix disposed therein. The support matrix is comprised of an upper vertical component extending downwardly from the top wall. The upper vertical component has a free lower end. The support matrix includes a pair of angular components extending upwardly from the bottom wall to join the free lower end of the upper vertical component. A pulley system is disposed within the housing. The pulley system includes a forward and rearward upper wheel and a forward and rearward lower wheel each coupled with the upper vertical component of the support matrix. The forward upper wheel and the forward lower wheel and the rearward upper wheel and the rearward lower wheel each have a circular belt extending therearound. A plurality of vehicle compartments are coupled with the circular belts of the pulley system interiorly of the housing. Each of the vehicle compartments is dimensioned for receiving a vehicle therein. Each vehicle compartment has a lower wall with a pair of tire receiving slots therein.
Description


BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to a multiple vehicle parking system and more particularly pertains to parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location.


[0002] The use of vehicle parking devices is known in the prior art. More specifically, vehicle parking devices heretofore devised and utilized for the purpose of housing vehicles are known to consist basically of familiar, expected and obvious structural configurations, notwithstanding the myriad of designs encompassed by the crowded prior art which have been developed for the fulfillment of countless objectives and requirements.


[0003] By way of example, U.S. Pat. No. 4,601,628 to Lowing discloses a space efficient rotary storage structure for such items as motor vehicles. U.S. Pat. No. 5,478,182 to Hildebrand discloses a parking silo with a series of radially positioned parking space compartments to conserve space. U.S. Pat. Nos. 4,364,703 to Pai and 5,330,305 to Goo disclose additional mechanical parking space systems.


[0004] While these devices fulfill their respective, particular objective and requirements, the aforementioned patents do not describe a multiple vehicle parking system for parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location.


[0005] In this respect, the multiple vehicle parking system according to the present invention substantially departs from the conventional concepts and designs of the prior art, and in doing so provides an apparatus primarily developed for the purpose of parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location.


[0006] Therefore, it can be appreciated that there exists a continuing need for a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which can be used for parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location. In this regard, the present invention substantially fulfills this need.



SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

[0007] In the view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of vehicle parking devices now present in the prior art, the present invention provides an improved multiple vehicle parking system. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which has all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.


[0008] To attain this, the present invention essentially comprises a housing having a generally rectangular configuration. The housing has a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed side walls, an open forward face, and an open rearward face. The open forward face and the open rearward face each have a support matrix disposed therein. The support matrix is comprised of an upper vertical component extending downwardly from the top wall. The upper vertical component has a free lower end. The support matrix includes a pair of angular components extending upwardly from the bottom wall to join the free lower end of the upper vertical component. A pulley system is disposed within the housing. The pulley system includes a forward and rearward upper wheel and a forward and rearward lower wheel each coupled with the upper vertical component of the support matrix. The forward upper wheel and the forward lower wheel and the rearward upper wheel and the rearward lower wheel each have a circular belt extending therearound. A plurality of vehicle compartments are coupled with the circular belts of the pulley system interiorly of the housing. Each of the vehicle compartments is dimensioned for receiving a vehicle therein. Each vehicle compartment has a lower wall with a pair of tire receiving slots therein.


[0009] There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are, of course, additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.


[0010] In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.


[0011] As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.


[0012] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which has all the advantages of the prior art vehicle parking devices and none of the disadvantages.


[0013] It is another object of the present invention to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.


[0014] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which is of durable and reliable construction.


[0015] An even further object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system which is susceptible of a low cost of manufacture with regard to both materials and labor, and which accordingly is then susceptible of low prices of sale to the consuming public, thereby making such a multiple vehicle parking system economically available to the buying public.


[0016] Even still another object of the present invention is to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system for parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location.


[0017] Lastly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved multiple vehicle parking system including a housing having a generally rectangular configuration. The housing has a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed side walls, an open forward face, and an open rearward face. The open forward face and the open rearward face each have a support matrix disposed therein. The support matrix is comprised of an upper vertical component extending downwardly from the top wall. The upper vertical component has a free lower end. The support matrix includes a pair of angular components extending upwardly from the bottom wall to join the free lower end of the upper vertical component. A pulley system is disposed within the housing. The pulley system includes a forward and rearward upper wheel and a forward and rearward lower wheel each coupled with the upper vertical component of the support matrix. The forward upper wheel and the forward lower wheel and the rearward upper wheel and the rearward lower wheel each have a circular belt extending therearound. A plurality of vehicle compartments are coupled with the circular belts of the pulley system interiorly of the housing. Each of the vehicle compartments is dimensioned for receiving a vehicle therein. Each vehicle compartment has a lower wall with a pair of tire receiving slots therein.

For a better understanding of the invention, its operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there is illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

[0024] With reference now to the drawings, and in particular, to FIGS. 1 through 3 thereof, the preferred embodiment of the new and improved multiple vehicle parking system embodying the principles and concepts of the present invention and generally designated by the reference number 10 will be described.


[0025] Specifically, it will be noted in the various Figures that the device relates to a multiple vehicle parking system for parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location. In its broadest context, the device consists of the housing, a pulley system, and a plurality of vehicle compartments. Such components are individually configured and correlated with respect to each other so as to attain the desired objective.


[0026] The housing 12 has a generally rectangular configuration. The housing 12 has a top wall 14, a bottom wall 16, opposed side walls 18, an open forward face 20, and an open rearward face 22. The open forward face 20 and the open rearward face 22 each have a support matrix 24 disposed therein. The support matrix 24 is comprised of an upper vertical component 26 extending downwardly from the top wall 14. The upper vertical component 26 has a free lower end. The support matrix 24 includes a pair of angular components 28 extending upwardly from the bottom wall 16 to join the free lower end of the upper vertical component 26.


[0027] The pulley system is disposed within the housing 12. The pulley system includes a forward and rearward upper wheel 30 and a forward and rearward lower wheel 32 each coupled with the upper vertical component 26 of the support matrix 24. The forward upper wheel 30 and the forward lower wheel 32 and the rearward upper wheel 30 and the rearward lower wheel 32 each have a circular belt 34 extending therearound.


[0028] The plurality of vehicle compartments 36 are coupled with the circular belts 34 of the pulley system interiorly of the housing 12. Each of the vehicle compartments 36 is dimensioned for receiving a vehicle 38 therein. Each vehicle compartment 36 has a lower wall 40 with a pair of tire receiving slots 42 therein.


[0029] In use, a vehicle will enter a vehicle compartment 36 at the lower wall 14 of the housing 12 and then the pulley system is activated to raise the filled vehicle compartment upwardly while simultaneously lowering the next empty vehicle compartment to the lower wall 14. This process is followed until all of the vehicle compartments 36 have been filled. The process is then reversed for the removal of the vehicles.

[0032] With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and the manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention.

Further, since numerous modification and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modification and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.


Claims
  • 1. A multiple vehicle parking system for parking a plurality of vehicles in a single location comprising, in combination: a housing having a generally rectangular configuration, the housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, opposed side walls, an open forward face, and an open rearward face, the open forward face and the open rearward face each having a support matrix disposed therein, the support matrix being comprised of an upper vertical component extending downwardly from the top wall, the upper vertical component having a free lower end, the support matrix including a pair of angular components extending upwardly from the bottom wall to join the free lower end of the upper vertical component; a pulley system disposed within the housing, the pulley system including a forward and rearward upper wheel and a forward and rearward lower wheel each coupled with the upper vertical component of the support matrix, the forward upper wheel and the forward lower wheel and the rearward upper wheel and the rearward lower wheel each having a circular belt extending therearound; a plurality of vehicle compartments coupled with the circular belts of the pulley system interiorly of the housing, each of the vehicle compartments dimensioned for receiving a vehicle therein, each vehicle compartment having a lower wall with a pair of tire receiving slots therein.
