The present invention relates generally to the field of gift bags. More specifically, the present invention relates to a novel gift bag that has removable sections on the panels of the bag. The bag is used for carrying gifts but is also used for enabling users to remove the removable sections for creating costumes, toys, and more. More specifically, the bag has punch-out or perforated sections that are removed from the bag and used by users to make the costume, toy, and/or game. Accordingly, the present disclosure makes specific reference thereto. Nonetheless, it is to be appreciated that aspects of the present invention are also equally applicable to other like applications, devices, and methods of manufacture.
By way of background, gift bags are widely used as carriers for gifts of all types and for all ages of individuals. Gift bags are generally decorative and fanciful and can be also themed as per a gift being carried therein. The gift bags have decorative printings, designs, colors, and ornamentations that assist in not only carrying a gift but also in enhancing the appearance and value of the gift. Traditionally, gifts given from one person to another are wrapped in a decorative manner to provide a visually exciting and pleasing appearance and retain an element of mystery as to the identity of the gift. However, decorative and themed gift bags serve as both container and decorative wrapper.
Standard gift bags are commonly made with plastic and paper materials and include standard square or rectangular shapes. Such gift bags are thrown away by a recipient after the gift is taken out of the gift bag. Themed gift bags are not reusable and are torn or thrown away once the gift is taken out and unwrapped. Gift bags especially having decorative prints and themes are expensive and therefore individuals desire improved gift bags that are not only functional to carry the gifts but can be reused as well.
Standard gift bags are functional only to carry gifts and do not provide any additional functions. Individuals desire gift bags that can function as a way to play games, create fancy costumes, make toys, and more, thereby also prohibiting individuals from throwing away the gift bags.
Therefore, there exists a long-felt need in the art for an improved gift bag that allows individuals to create costumes, play games, make toys, and more. There is also a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that can be reused to accommodate any type of gift. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that solves the problem of throwing away of the gift bags after taking out a gift. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for an improved gift bag that has game components disposed thereon enabling individuals to play a game. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that provides an enjoyable experience to everyone by enabling them to play games. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for gift bags that offers a unique way to give gifts to children and others without wasting and throwing away the gift bag.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a multipurpose gift bag having a plurality of perforated sections that can be removed from the bag and worn to create a customized costume. The sections are included on the panels of the bag as a part of the bag and can be removed making the bag usable in addition to carrying gifts. The gift bag further comprising a front panel, a rear panel, a pair of side panels, and a bottom panel; the panels forming a cavity for accommodating a gift item; at least one of said front panel, rear panel and the side panels have perforations holding one or more detachable sections wherein the detachable sections are removably disposed on said panels; and, the detachable sections are configured to be worn by a recipient of the gift bag to create a custom costume or toy.
In this manner, the improved gift bag of the present invention accomplishes all of the foregoing objectives and provides users with unique gift bags featuring removable parts and sections that can be used to create a costume, play a game, make a toy, and more. The gift bag includes a plurality of punch-out or perforated flexible sections to make costumes, create toys, and/or play games. The gift bag is reusable and is not required to be torn or thrown away after a gift is removed from the gift bag.
The following presents a simplified summary in order to provide a basic understanding of some aspects of the disclosed innovation. This summary is not an extensive overview, and it is not intended to identify key/critical elements or to delineate the scope thereof. Its sole purpose is to present some general concepts in a simplified form as a prelude to the more detailed description that is presented later.
The subject matter disclosed and claimed herein, in one embodiment thereof, comprises a multipurpose gift bag. The multipurpose gift bag has a plurality of detachable sections disposed on a body of the bag wherein the detachable sections are used for playing a game, creating a costume or toy, and more. The gift bag further comprising a front panel, a rear panel, a pair of side panels, and a bottom panel; the panels forming a cavity for accommodating a gift item; at least one of said front panel, rear panel and the side panels have perforations holding one or more detachable sections wherein the detachable sections are removably disposed on said panels; some of the detachable sections are configured to be worn by a recipient of the gift bag to create a custom costume; wherein the detachable sections are made of a different material than that of the gift bag; and, wherein at least one of the detachable sections includes an adhesive strip to secure around a body part of the recipient or to secure the detachable sections in a loop (i.e. circular) arrangement.
In yet another embodiment, the detachable section is a crown configured to be worn around head.
In yet another embodiment, the detachable sections are removably disposed on the front panel and the rear panel.
In yet another embodiment, the handle of the gift bag is in the form of detachable necklace.
In yet another embodiment, a gift bag having removable portions disposed in panels is disclosed. The gift bag comprising substantially parallel and equal front and rear panels, a pair of opposite and parallel side panels and a bottom panel; the longitudinal edges of the front panel are joined to the front edges of said side panels respectively; the longitudinal edges of the rear panel are joined to the rear edges of said side panels respectively; at least the front panel, the rear panel and the side panels have a removably attached crown disposed therein as a part of the panels, wherein the crown is removable for wearing on the head by a user; at least the front panel has a removably attached magic wand and a removably attached bracelet; wherein the magic wand and the bracelet are removable; and, the bag further has a handle for carrying the bag in the form of detachable necklace.
In yet another embodiment, the front panel has a detachable pirate eye patch, glasses, and a bracelet enabling a user to create a pirate look.
In yet another embodiment, the gift bag is reusable.
In yet another embodiment, the removable sections have hook and loop fasteners.
In yet another embodiment, a method of creating costumes from detachable portions of a gift bag is described. The method includes the steps of providing a gift bag, the gift bag having a plurality of perforated sections disposed on panels of the bag; removing said sections from the panels of the bag by tearing along perforation lines or punching out said sections; wearing said sections on an appropriate body part; and, securing the sections using corresponding securing means.

There is also a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that can be reused to accommodate any type of gift. Additionally, there is a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that solves the problem of throwing away of the gift bags after taking out a gift. Moreover, there is a long-felt need in the art for an improved gift bag that has game components and toys disposed thereon enabling individuals to play a game. Further, there is a long-felt need in the art for a gift bag that provides an enjoyable experience to everyone by enabling them to play games. Finally, there is a long-felt need in the art for gift bags that offers a unique way to give gifts to children and others without wasting and throwing away the gift bag.
The present invention, in one exemplary embodiment, is a novel gift bag having perforated portions disposed in panels of the bag. The gift bag comprising substantially parallel and equal front and rear panels, a pair of opposite and parallel side panels and a bottom panel; the said panels forming a cavity with a top opening to insert and remove a gift; at least the front panel, the rear panel and the side panels have a removably attached crown disposed therein as a part of the panels, wherein the crown is removable for wearing on a head by a user; at least the front panel has a removably attached magic wand and a removably attached bracelet; wherein the magic wand and the bracelet are removable; and, the bag further has a handle, in the form of a detachable necklace, for carrying the bag.

The panels 102,104,106,108 are configured to have a plurality of openings for accommodating various punch-out or perforated sections 114,116,118 that can be detached from the gift bag 100 along the perforations and used for playing games, creating creative costumes and toys, and more, thereby enabling the bag 100 to have additional functionality than just being a carrier of a gift. The perforated sections 114,116,118 are a part of the panels of the bag 100 and can be detached as per desire of a recipient of the bag. As illustrated, a crown section 114 is positioned near the bottom panel 110 and the crown section 114 runs along the front panel 102, rear panel 104, and pair of side panels 106,108. The crown section can be removed by a recipient of the bag 100 along perforations as illustrated in
A magic wand 116 is also positioned on the front panel 102 which can be removed from the slot and used as a part of costume and as an entertainment object. A handle of the bag for carrying the bag 100 can be also decorated as a removable necklace 118 with the necklace 118 available in various lengths. Alternatively, the necklace 118 can also be removed along perforations on the panels enabling a recipient of the bag 100 to use the necklace 118 for costume creation and game playing. Additional perforated sections 120,122 are also disposed on the front panel 102 (or any other panel) for use by the recipient.
The shape of the panels can be any geometric shape and the panels can be of any color, design, and print pattern. Further, the panels can have any logo or indicia embossed thereon for personalization and customization purposes.
The material for the gift bag 100 can be selected from a group of recyclable material comprising, cardboard, thick paper, brown paper and more. Further, the gift bag 100 can have additional rope or nylon handles and the side panels may have pleats enabling the bag 100 to collapse for easy storage. The rope or nylon handles can be removable from the gift bag to function as a toy rope or play cord. The gift bag 100 may come in a variety of sizes to accommodate gifts of all kinds and can have perforated sections as per a theme of the gift or of the party. The material may be comprised of 100% recycled materials or only partially of recyclable materials.
The perforation sections can be made of a same material as of the panels of the bag or alternatively can be made of any other material that does not inhibit the functionality of the bag 100 while enabling a user to easily remove the perforated sections along the perforations without damaging them. The perforation sections can have an appropriate integrated fastening mechanism for securing around a body part and/or for looping into a continuous shape. As an example, the crown 114 has an adhesive strip 208 that can be used to secure the crown 114 into a continuous loop for wearing around the head of a user. The fastening mechanism may include snap buttons, magnets, hook and loop fasteners, and more.
The multipurpose gift bags 100, in a variety of forms, can be used at parties for playing a game with various ornamental, decorative, and functional perforated sections disposed on the panels of the gift box.
The shape, theme, and design of the detachable perforated portions can be complimentary to the theme of the gift, party, printed matter, and/or graphics of the bag 400. The removable portions are removed by the recipient for playing a game, creating a costume, making a toy, and more.
It should be noted that any of the panels of the gift bags 100,400,500 can have the detachable sections for a user. Further, the detachable sections can come in an unlimited number of shapes and designs to cover themes, designs, and customizations.
The gift bags of various embodiments of the present invention have soft edges and round corners for the prevention of potential cuts, scrapes, eye injuries and the like associated with conventional paper gift bags. The gift bag 100 may also be used for jewelry.
Certain terms are used throughout the following description and claims to refer to particular features or components. As one skilled in the art will appreciate, different persons may refer to the same feature or component by different names. This document does not intend to distinguish between components or features that differ in name but not structure or function. As used herein “perforated gift bag”, “gift bag”, “multipurpose gift bag”, “bag”, and “gift bag with detachable sections” are interchangeable and refer to the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 of the present invention.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 of the present invention can be of any suitable size and configuration as is known in the art without affecting the overall concept of the invention, provided that it accomplishes the above-stated objectives. One of ordinary skill in the art will appreciate that the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 as shown in the FIGS. are for illustrative purposes only, and that many other sizes and shapes of the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 are well within the scope of the present disclosure. Although the dimensions of the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 are important design parameters for user convenience, the multipurpose gift bags with detachable sections 100,400,500 be of any size that ensures optimal performance during use and/or that suits the user's needs and/or preferences.
Various modifications and additions can be made to the exemplary embodiments discussed without departing from the scope of the present invention. While the embodiments described above refer to particular features, the scope of this invention also includes embodiments having different combinations of features and embodiments that do not include all of the described features. Accordingly, the scope of the present invention is intended to embrace all such alternatives, modifications, and variations as fall within the scope of the claims, together with all equivalents thereof.
