Claims
- 1. An apparatus for exercising the musculature of a subject which comprises:
- a substantially light-weight, portable rigid body having a front surface;
- a rigid arm movably mounted on said body and having a distal portion orthogonally projecting out of said front surface;
- resilient means for outwardly biasing said arm against forced movement into said body;
- means on said distal portion shaped to provide intimate contact with the subject;
- a first pair of handles parallel to said front surface at opposite ends of said body astride said arm; and
- a second pair of handles symmetrically set into the front surface astride said arm and between said first pair of handles.
- 2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein each of said handles comprises a rod section perpendicular to said arm and wherein said apparatus further comprises means for inwardly biasing movement of said arm away from said body.
- 3. The apparatus of claim 1 which further comprises means for adjusting strength of said resilient means for outwardly biasing.
- 4. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein said means for providing intimate contact comprises a bearing surface substantially perpendicular to said arm.
- 5. The apparatus of claim 4 which further comprises means for stabilizing said apparatus against a wall or joint between two walls.
- 6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein said means for stabilizing comprises:
- a rigid, concave nose-piece having two vertical surfaces perpendicular to each other; and
- means for attaching the nose-piece to said body.
- 7. The apparatus of claim 3, wherein said means for outwardly biasing comprise an elastic cord having both ends anchored to said body on either side of said arm, and a median section of said cord engaging said arm.
- 8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein said means for adjusting comprise:
- a window in a portion of said body; and
- and a movable pin engaged through said window and through one of a plurality of bores along said arm.
- 9. An apparatus for exercising the musculature of a subject which comprises:
- a substantially light-weight, portable rigid body having a front surface;
- a rigid arm movably mounted on said body and having a distal portion orthogonally projecting out of said front surface;
- resilient means for outwardly biasing said arm against forced movement into said body;
- means on said distal portion shaped to provide intimate contact with the subject;
- resilient means for inwardly biasing movement of said arm away from said body;
- a pair of handles at opposite ends of said body astride said arm;
- a second pair of handles set into the front surface astride the first pair of handles; and
- an arcuate wrist support proximally parallel to each handle.
