Claims
- 1. A method treatment of pain, fever, and inflammation comprising:
- administration to a subject in need of such treatment, a non-toxic, therapeutically effective amount of compound of formula: ##STR29## or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein: R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently are
- (a) phenyl of formula ##STR30## wherein X.sub.5 and X.sub.6 independently are (1) Q where Q is H, loweralkyl or haloloweralkyl;
- (2) halo;
- (3) SQ;
- (4) OQ; or
- (5) SOQ;
- (b) thienyl of formula ##STR31## wherein X.sub.4 represents Q or halo R.sup.4 is H or loweralkyl; and
- X.sub.2 is
- (a) Q;
- (b) halo;
- (c) OQ;
- (d) phenyl;
- (e) 5-(2,4-difluorophenyl);
- (f) SO; or
- (g) CF.sub.3 CONH--.
- 2. A method treatment of pain, fever, and inflammation comprising:
- administration to a subject in need of such treatment, a non-toxic, therapeutically effective amount of compound of formula: ##STR32## wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently are (a) phenyl of formula ##STR33## wherein X.sub.5 and X.sub.6 independently are (1) Q where Q is H, loweralkyl or haloloweralkyl;
- (2) halo;
- (3) SQ;
- (4) OQ; or
- (5) SOQ;
- (b) thienyl of formula ##STR34## wherein X.sub.4 represents Q or halo; R.sup.4 is H or loweralkyl; and
- X.sub.2 is
- (a) Q;
- (b) halo; or
- (c) OQ.
- 3. A method treatment of pain, fever, and inflammation comprising:
- administration to a subject in need of such treatment, a non-toxic, therapeutically effective amount of compound according to claim 2 wherein
- R.sup.4 is H;
- X.sub.5 and X.sub.6 independently are
- (1) Q where Q is H, loweralkyl or haloloweralkyl;
- (2) halo; or
- (4) OQ.
- 4. A method treatment of pain, fever, and inflammation comprising:
- administration to a subject in need of such treatment, a non-toxic, therapeutically effective amount of compound of claim 3 which is: 3-hydroxy-5-trifluoromethyl-N-(2-phenyl-2-(2-thienyl) ethenyl)-benzo(b)-thiophene-2-carboxamide or a pharmaceutical salt thereof.
