The present invention relates to a nail clipper, and more particularly to a nail clipper with a joint arrangement having a reinforcing sleeve to enhance the durability of the nail clipper.
Most nail clippers have a first press lever and a second press lever pivotally connected with the first press lever by a rivet, wherein the first press lever comprises a first connection through hole, and the second press lever comprises a second connection through hole aligned with the first connection through hole. In the traditional manufacturing technique, the rivet is forcedly riveted into the first connection through hole and the second connection through hole respectively by a strong external force. Theoretically, the rivet is easily deformed within the second connection through hole in order to affix the first press lever and with second press lever, and at the same time, the first press lever can be rotated with respect to the second press lever by the rivet. However, the traditional manufacturing technique may be disadvantageous because a strong external force is directly applied on the rivet, and the rivet is usually deformed within the first connection through hole or between the first and second connection through hole. The deformation of the rivet can not only be generated between the rivet and the first connection though hole, but also between the rivet and the second connection through hole, which causes the rivet more difficulty to rotate. Furthermore, since it is very difficult to control the deformation of the rivet, the yield rate of the manufacturing of the traditional nail clipper is usually not high.
The invention is advantageous in that it provides a nail clipper comprising a first press lever, a second press lever, and a joint arrangement adapted to provide a more secured and durable connection structure between the first press lever and the second press lever.
Another advantage of the invention is to provide a nail clipper, wherein the joint arrangement comprises a rivet passed through the first press lever and the second press lever to pivotally connect the first press lever and the second press lever, and a reinforcing sleeve which is allowed the rivet to pass therethrough to protect the rivet.
Another advantage of the invention is to provide a nail clipper, wherein no expensive and complicated structures are required to be employed in the present invention in order to achieve the above mentioned objects. Therefore, the present invention successfully provides an economic and efficient solution that protects the rivet inside the first press lever sleeve, so as to prolong the life-span of the nail clipper.
Additional advantages and features of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows, and may be realized by means of the instrumentalities and combinations particular point out in the appended claims.
According to the present invention, the foregoing and other objects and advantages are attained by a nail clipper, comprising:
a first press lever;
a second press lever pivotally connecting with the first press lever; and
a joint arrangement compressing a rivet adapted to pivotally connect the first press lever and the second press lever, and a reinforcing sleeve arranged between the upper and second press lever to protect the rivet.
Still further objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the ensuing description and drawings.
These and other objectives, features, and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description, the accompanying drawings, and the appended claims.
The following description is disclosed to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the present invention. Preferred embodiments are provided in the following description only as examples and modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art. The general principles defined in the following description would be applied to other embodiments, alternatives, modifications, equivalents, and applications without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention.

The rivet 23 comprises a cap end 231 and a pin end 232, wherein a diameter “r” of the pin end 232 is slightly smaller than a diameter “s” of the second connection channel 22, and a diameter “C” of the cap end 231 is slightly smaller than a diameter “f” of the first connection channel 21, so the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 can be securely affixed into the second connection channel 22 in order to securely connect the first press lever 10 with the second press lever 11. And, the cap end 231 can be frictionally engaged with an opening of the first connection channel.
It is worth to mention that the reinforcing sleeve 24 has an inner diameter “p” and an outer diameter “P”, wherein inner diameter “p” is slightly larger than the diameter “r” of the pin end 232, so that the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 can be inserted into the reinforcing sleeve 24, and the reinforcing sleeve 24 is frictionally engaged with the opening of the first connection channel 21 of the first press lever 10. Since the reinforcing sleeve 24 and a portion of the rivet 23 are inserted and frictionally engaged with the first connection channel 21, the first press lever 10 is able to rotate with respect to the second press lever 11.
Furthermore, the rivet 23 is transversely forced to insert into the first connection channel 21, the reinforcing sleeve 24, and the second connection channel 22 respectively in order to pivotally connect the first press lever 10 and the second press lever 11. Since the reinforcing sleeve 24 and the rivet 23 are frictionally engaged with the first connection channel 21 as long as the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 is affixed inside the first connection channel 22, the first press lever 10 can be rotated with respect to the second press lever 11. In other words, the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 is also affixed into the second connection channel 22. The pin end 232 of the rivet 23 is inserted into and engaged with the second connection channel 22 and the reinforcing sleeve 24 by an external force, so the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 can be deformed inside the second connection channel 22 and the reinforcing sleeve 24 without adversely affecting the connection between the first press lever 10 and the second press lever 11.
Preferably, the reinforcing sleeve 24 is made of steel or copper, and has certain thickness and strength, so the pin end 232 of the rivet 23 can be protected inside the reinforcing sleeve 24 in order to prevent the deformation of the pin end 232 generated inside the first connection channel 21. In other words, the reinforcing sleeve 24 serves as a shaft, so the first press lever 10 is able to pivotally rotate with respect to the second press lever 11 along the reinforcing sleeve 24. In addition, since the deformation of the pin end 232 is mainly happened inside the second connection channel 22 and the reinforcing sleeve 24 and the reinforcing sleeve 24 and the first connection channel are frictionally engaged, so the external force is able to overcome a frictional force generated between the reinforcing sleeve 24 and the first connection channel 21, so as to rotate the first press lever 10.
Each of the first press lever 10 and the second press lever 11 comprises a first end formed with a blade 12 and a second end formed with a handle 13. And, the two blades 12 of the first press lever 10 and the second press lever 11 are displaced towards each other with the nails to be cut positioned between the two blades 12. It is worth to mention that the two blades 12 are displaced towards each other until the nail is divided by the two blades 12, and the two blades 12 contact each other. It is worth to mention that the two handle 13 of the upper and second press lever 10, 11 are crossed in shape of an X jointed by means of the joint arrangement 20.
