Claims
- 1. An octamer polypeptide immunoreactive with an HCV antibody, wherein the octamer has the amino acid sequence shown at positions 2280 to 2287 (AA2280-AA2287) as set forth in FIG. 72 (SEQ ID NOS:137-138).
- 2. An immunoassay reagent comprising a polypeptide according to claim 1.
- 3. A method for detecting the presence of antibodies immunoreactive within hepatitis C virus (HCV) proteins in a sample, said method comprising:contacting an immobilized immunoassay reagent according to claim 2 with said sample; and detecting antibodies bound to said reagent.
- 4. A method of making a polypeptide according to claim 1, wherein said polypeptide is prepared by recombinant expression or chemical synthesis.
- 5. A polypeptide immunoreactive with an HCV antibody wherein an immunoreactive portion reactive with said HCV antibody is a segment of an HCV polypeptide comprising amino acid 2244 to amino acid 2251 (AA2244-AA2251) as set forth in FIG. 72 (SEQ ID NOS:137-138), wherein said segment has a maximum length of approximately 25 amino acids.
- 6. The immunoreactive polypeptide according to claim 5 wherein said segment has a maximum length of approximately 20 amino acids.
- 7. An immunoassay reagent comprising a polypeptide according to any of claims 5-6.
- 8. A method for detecting the presence of antibodies immunoreactive within hepatitis C virus (HCV) proteins in a sample, said method comprising:contacting an immobilized immunoassay reagent according to claim 7 with said sample, and detecting antibodies bound to said reagent.
- 9. A method of making a polypeptide according to any of claims 5-6 wherein said polypeptide is prepared by recombinant expression or chemical synthesis.
