Claims
- 1. An article of manufacture, comprising:
- a nanocrystalline composite comprising a first nanocrystalline material comprising discrete primary particles having a size of about 1-50 nm and an average size less than about 40 nm blended with a second nanocrystalline material comprising discrete primary particles having a size of about 1-50 nm and an average size less than about 40 nm, each of said primary particles having a substantially spherical shape wherein said discrete primary particles are formed within the boundaries of an ionized arc extending between a consumable anode and a nonconsumable cathode.
- 2. The article of manufacture as defined in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first nanocrystalline material and said second nanocrystalline material is selected from the group consisting of titanium nitride, titanium oxide, yttrium oxide, zirconium oxide, aluminum oxide, iron oxide, silicon oxide, silicon nitride, silicon carbide, a semiconductor and a metal.
- 3. The article of manufacture as defined in claim 1 wherein said nanocrystalline material comprise full reacted material having an average size range of about 20-30 nanometers.
- 4. An article of manufacture, comprising:
- a nanocrystalline material comprising discrete primary particles having a size of about 1-50 nm and an average size less than about 40 nm, said primary particles having a substantially spherical shape, wherein said discrete primary particles are formed within the boundaries of an ionized arc extending between a consumable anode and a nonconsumable cathode.
- 5. The article of manufacture as defined in claim 4 wherein said nanocrystalline material is fully reacted.
- 6. The article of manufacture as defined in claim 4 wherein said nanocystalline material further includes agglomerate particles of size from about 10 nm to 100 nm.
