Claims
- 1. A cushion for removably attaching to a nasal mask for forming a seal between the mask and a user's face around the user's nose, said seal including an inflatable chamber adapted to extend during use between the mask body around at least a portion of a nose receiving opening in the mask body and a mask user's face, a manually operated pump permanently connected to said inflatable chamber, said pump delivering air to said inflatable chamber when actuated, and a normally closed manually operated pressure release valve permanently connected to said inflatable chamber, said release valve venting air from said inflatable chamber when manually actuated.
- 2. A cushion for a nasal mask, as set forth in claim 1, and further including a resilient open cell foam at least partially filling said inflatable chamber.
- 3. A cushion for a nasal mask, as set forth in claim 2, and wherein said inflatable chamber is shaped to extend continuously around a nose opening when attached to a mask body.
- 4. A cushion for a nasal mask, as set forth in claim 1, and wherein said inflatable chamber is shaped to extend continuously around a nose opening when attached to a mask body.
- 5. A nasal mask including a body having a rim defining an opening adapted to receive a user's nose, a cushion attached to said rim, said cushion having an inflatable chamber extending at least partially around said rim, a manually operated pump permanently connected to said inflatable chamber, said pump delivering air to said inflatable chamber when actuated, and a release valve permanently connected to said inflatable chamber, said release valve venting air from said inflatable chamber when manually actuated.
- 6. A nasal mask, as set forth in claim 5, and further including a resilient open cell foam at least partially filling said inflatable chamber.
- 7. A nasal mask, as set forth in claim 6, and wherein said cushion is removably attached to said body to extend around said rim, said pump is removably mounted in a pump opening in said body, and said pump is removably mounted in a valve opening said body.
- 8. A nasal mask, as set forth in claim 5, and wherein said pump includes a resilient dome member defining a chamber which is collapsed when said pump is actuated, an air inlet connecting through an inlet check valve to said chamber, and an air outlet connected from said chamber through an outlet check valve and a passageway to said inflatable tube.
- 9. A nasal mask, as set forth in claim 7, and wherein said resilient dome is filled with an open cell resilient foam material.
- 10. A nasal mask, as set forth in claim 7, and wherein said release valve is connected to said passageway.
- 11. A nasal mask including a body having a rim defining an opening adapted to receive a user's nose, a cushion assembly removably attached to said body to extend around said rim, and wherein said cushion assembly includes an inflatable chamber, a manually operated pump connected to said inflatable chamber, said pump delivering air to said inflatable chamber when actuated, and a normally closed release valve connected to said inflatable chamber, said release valve venting air from said inflatable chamber when manually actuated.
