NECKLACE AND BRACELET WITH MULTIPLE DETACHABLE NECKLACE AND BRACELET STRANDS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

TECHNICAL FIELD

This specification relates to jewelry, and more particularly to necklaces and bracelets having multiple necklace and bracelet strands which may be detachably connected, and methods of making the same.

BACKGROUND

Necklaces and bracelets are popular jewelry items worn by both men and women with many different styles of clothing. Many necklaces and bracelets have one or more necklace or bracelet strands permanently attached at opposite ends of a necklace or bracelet clasp. The necklace and bracelet strands may be formed of chains, links, natural or synthetic gems, gemstones, pearls, beads, and the like and may be made of precious or non-precious materials.

One drawback of conventional necklaces and bracelets is that the necklace and bracelet strands are permanently attached to the necklace or bracelet clasp, thereby preventing the wearer from creating a multi-strand necklace or bracelet of his/her own design. Thus, a wearer who wishes to have a variety of necklaces and bracelets available for different occasions must purchase multiple necklaces or bracelets of different designs.

SUMMARY

In order to address the drawbacks in the prior art, a necklace and bracelet has been invented that comprises multiple chains each having a ring at an end of each of the multiple chains and a fastener at the other end of each of the multiple chains. The chains are connected to form the necklace or bracelet by connecting the ring of one of the multiple chains to each fastener of the remaining multiple chains and the fastener of the one chain to the ring of each of the remaining multiple chains. This allows, in the case of the necklace, the one chain to be worn around the back of the neck and the remaining chains to be worn at the front of the neck, or, in the case of the bracelet, additional strands to be attached to one original unique clasp and strand.

Preferably, each of the multiple chains has the same size and shaped ring at one end and the same size and shaped fastener at the other end so as to allow for variety in mixing and matching of the chains which make up the necklace and bracelet and simplicity in the design.

Each of the multiple chains has the ring and the fastener permanently fixed to the respective ends of the chain so as to simplify the design of the chains that are used to make up the necklace or bracelet and to provide a uniformity of appearance to the necklace or bracelet.

The number of chains used to form the necklace is two or more and more preferably three or more. Suitably, for the necklace, one of the chains is positioned at the back of the neck while the remaining one or more chains are positioned at the front of the neck.

Alternatively, two of the multiple chains can be positioned at the back of the neck such that the two chains are joined at the back of the neck while the remaining multiple chains are positioned at the front of the neck.

Preferably, no more than two of the multiple chains have the same length while the remaining multiple chains have lengths different from the two and different from each other. More preferably, all of the multiple chains have different lengths.

The rings can be circular-shaped rings or oval-shaped rings.

The fastener can be a transverse bar, a hook, an oval-shaped fastener, or a circular-shaped fastener.

Preferably, each of the multiple chains measures about six inches to about thirty inches.

The necklace of the present invention can be defined as comprising: at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener; and a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener; wherein the second ring is removably connected to the first fastener; and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener.

Preferably, the necklace of the invention can be defined as comprising: at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener, and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.

In another embodiment, the at least one first chain includes a first section and a second section that may be attached at the back of a user's neck. The first section may include two rings at its respective ends and the second section may include two fasteners at its respective ends.

Preferably the necklace of the present invention can also be defined as comprising at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar. The at least one first chain fits around a user's neck to form the neck portion of the necklace. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.

Preferably, the necklace can also include a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar. The second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths, the fourth ring is removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the fourth transverse bar.

Preferably, the at least one first chain includes a first section and a second section. The first section includes two rings at its respective ends and the second section includes two transverse bars at its respective ends. The first and second sections may be fastened about at the back of a user's neck.

Preferably, a method for constructing a necklace has also been invented which comprises: selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener; and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.

In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook, and a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook. A first chain is connected to the first oval shaped hook, a second chain is connected to the third oval shaped hook, a third chain having a first length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, a fourth chain having a second length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, and a fifth chain having a third length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.

Preferably, the necklace also includes a third clasp, wherein the first chain and the second chain are wrapped around a user's neck and connected to the third clasp.

Preferably, the first clasp includes the first oval shaped hook, the second oval shaped hook, and one or more first beads disposed between the first oval shaped hook and the second oval shaped hook, and the second clasp includes the third oval shaped hook, the fourth oval shaped hook, and one or more second beads disposed between the third oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.

In accordance with another embodiment, a bracelet includes a clasp having a ring and a closing mechanism, wherein the ring is one of circular shaped and oval shaped, and one or more chains connected to the clasp.

In accordance with another embodiment, a method of constructing a necklace is provided. A plurality of chains is selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, and a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. A first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook are selected. The first ring is removably connected to the first hook, and the second ring is removably connected to the third hook. The third ring is removably connected to the second hook and the fourth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook. The fifth ring is removably connected to the second hook and the sixth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook.

In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook, and a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook. A first chain is connected permanently to the first oval shaped hook and to the third oval shaped hook. A second chain having a first length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook, and a third chain having a second length is connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook. A pendant is connected to the third chain.

In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp includes a first element comprising a first curved portion and a first eyelet, a second element comprising a second curved portion and a second eyelet, and a ring. The ring passes through the first eyelet and the second eyelet.

In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp apparatus includes a clasp element comprising a first end and a second end, a first end tip adapted to fit over the first end, and a second end tip adapted to fit over the second end. In another embodiment, an item of jewelry includes the clasp apparatus and at least one chain having a third end and a fourth end, the third end and fourth end being connected to the clasp element. The item of jewelry may be a necklace or a bracelet, for example.

The chain used in the present invention to make the necklace and the bracelet of the present invention can be a chain with two rings, one of each rings fixed at one of each ends of the chain. Alternatively, the chain can have a ring fixed at one end of the chain and a clasp fixed at the other end of the chain. As a further alternative, the chain can have two clasps, one of each clasps fixed at one of each ends of the chain.

A preferred necklace of the present invention employs a plurality of chains where in the chain for use around the back of the neck of the user has a clasp at each end of the chain and the other chains that lay on the chest of the user, employ rings at each end of the chains.

A preferred chain for the bracelet of the present invention, has a ring at one end of the chain and a clasp at the other end of the chain.

A preferred bracelet of the present invention employs a plurality of chains wherein one of the chains is shorter in length than the other of the chains and the one chain that is shorter in length than the other chains has a length which tightly binds the chain to the wrist of the user so as to hold the bracelet in place while the other chains loosely fit around the wrist of the user and can dangle and move freely for ornamental purposes.

One of the clasps of the present invention has an elliptical shape with one quarter of its circumference forming a latch which is hinged to allow for opening and closing of the clasp.

The necklace of the present invention suitably forms a closed loop with at least three chains, one chain forming a portion of the circumference of the loop while the other two chains are substantially parallel to each other forming the remainder of the circumference of the loop thus the one chain is opposite the other two chains in the circumference of the loop.

In accordance with another embodiment, jewelry such as a necklace or a bracelet, includes a first clasp, a second clasp coupled to the first clasp, a first chain having a first end and a second end, the first end coupled to the first clasp, the second end coupled to the second clasp, a second chain having a third end and a fourth end, the third end coupled to the first clasp, the fourth end coupled to the second clasp, and a third chain having a fifth end and a sixth end, the fifth end coupled to the first clasp, the sixth end coupled to the second clasp.

In one embodiment, the first clasp has one of: a circular shape, an oval shape, a square shape, and a triangular shape. The second clasp has one of: a circular shape, an oval shape, a square shape, and a triangular shape.

In another embodiment, the first chain has a first ring disposed at the first end, the first clasp being coupled to the first ring, and a second ring disposed at the second end, the second ring being coupled to the second clasp. The second chain has a third ring disposed at the third end, the third ring being coupled to the first clasp, and a fourth ring disposed at the fourth end, the fourth ring being coupled to the second clasp. The third chain has a fifth ring disposed at the fifth end, the fifth ring being coupled to the first clasp, and a sixth ring disposed at the sixth end, the sixth ring being coupled to the second clasp.

In another embodiment, the first clasp includes a first closure mechanism having a first open position and a first closed position. The second clasp includes a second closure mechanism having a second open position and a second closed position.

In another embodiment, the first clasp includes a first latch having a first open position and a first latched position, wherein the first latch secures the first clasp in a first closed position when the first latch is in the first latched position. The second clasp includes a second latch having a second open position and a second latched position, wherein the second latch secures the second clasp in a second closed position when the second latch is in the second latched position.

In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace or a bracelet includes a first clasp, a second clasp coupled to the first clasp, and a plurality of chains, each chain being coupled to the first clasp and to the second clasp.

In one embodiment, each respective chain among the plurality of chains includes a first ring disposed at a first end of the respective chain, the first ring being connected to the first clasp, and a second ring disposed at a second end of the respective chain, the second ring being connected to the second clasp.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

FIG. 1 shows an exemplary jewelry chain 100 which includes a chain 110, a ring 120, and a transverse bar 130. In a well-known manner, ring 120 may be removably connected to transverse bar 130, by slipping one end of transverse bar 130 through ring 120 and then pushing the other end through the ring, and then positioning transverse bar 130 in such a manner that it remains engaged with ring 120. By this technique, jewelry chain 100 may be used to create a wearable item of jewelry such as a necklace or bracelet.

FIG. 2 shows components of a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. A first jewelry chain 210 includes a first chain 211, a first ring 212, and a first transverse bar 214. A second jewelry chain 220 includes a second chain 221, a second ring 222, and a second transverse bar 224. A third jewelry chain 230 includes a third chain 231, a third ring 232, and a third transverse bar 234. A fourth jewelry chain 240 includes a fourth chain 241, a fourth ring 242, and a fourth transverse bar 244.

In accordance with an embodiment, second chain 221, third chain 231, and fourth chain 241 have three different lengths. For example, third chain 231 may be longer than fourth chain 241, and second chain 221 may be longer than third chain 231.

Transverse bars 214, 224, 234, 244 may have similar sizes or may be of different sizes.

Rings 212, 222, 232, 242 may have similar sizes or may have different sizes. Rings 212, 222, 232, 242 may have any shape, for example, a circular shape or an oval shape. In the illustrative embodiment of FIGS. 2 and 3, rings 212, 222, 232, 242 are circular in shape and have different sizes.

The sizes of transverse bars 214, 224, 234, 244, and the sizes of rings 212, 222, 232, 242 as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3 are illustrative only and may not represent real sizes.

FIG. 3 shows a necklace constructed of the components shown in FIG. 2 in accordance with an embodiment. First jewelry chain 210 is adapted to fit around the back of a wearer's neck. Second jewelry chain 220, third jewelry chain 230, and fourth jewelry chain 240 are adapted to visibly hang in a cascading fashion.

Thus, as shown in FIG. 3, second transverse bar 224, third transverse bar 234, and fourth transverse bar 244 are removably connected to first ring 212. First transverse bar 214 is removably connected to second ring 222, to third ring 232, and to fourth ring 242.

In one embodiment, each of the first, second, third, and fourth chains 211, 221, 231, 241 measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.

In one embodiment, each of the first, second, third, and fourth chains 211, 221, 231, 241 is long enough to wrap around a user's wrist and create a bracelet. For example, each of the first, second, third, and fourth chains may have a length between 6 inches and 9.5 inches. In another embodiment, each of the first, second, third, and fourth chains may be between 14 inches and 20 inches. A user may then wrap each chain twice (or more times) around the wrist to create a bracelet.

In another embodiment, fourth jewelry chain 240 may be omitted. Accordingly, a necklace may include a first chain adapted to fit around a user's neck and two additional chains of different lengths that are connected to the first chain and hang in a cascading fashion at the front of the user's neck, on the chest. In other embodiments, a necklace may have a first chain adapted to fit around a user's neck and four or more additional chains of different lengths adapted to hang in a cascading fashion at the front of the user's neck, on the chest.

FIG. 4 is a flowchart of a method of constructing a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. For purposes of illustration, the method set forth in FIG. 4 describes a method of constructing a necklace having three chains. While the method of FIG. 4 is described with reference to FIGS. 2 and 3, it is clear from the Figures that methods similar to that described in FIG. 4 may be used to construct a necklace having more than three chains.

At step 410, a plurality of chains are selected, wherein the plurality of chains includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. For example, with reference to FIG. 2, first jewelry chain 210, second jewelry chain 220, and third jewelry chain 230 may be selected.

At step 420, the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar. At step 430, the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar. Referring to FIG. 3, for example, first transverse bar 214 may be removably connected to second ring 222 and third ring 232. Second transverse bar 224 and third transverse bar 234 may be removably connected to first ring 212.

In another embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first jewelry chain adapted to fit around a user's neck, and second, third, and fourth jewelry chains of different lengths that are connected to the first chain and hang in a cascading fashion at the front of the user's neck, as in FIG. 3. However, other types of connectors may be used to connect the jewelry chains to one another and construct a necklace. Any suitable type of connector may be used.

For example, a ring and a fastener may be used. FIG. 5 shows components of a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. A first jewelry chain 510 includes a first chain 511, a first oval ring 512, and a first oval fastener 514. A second jewelry chain 520 includes a second chain 521, a second oval ring 522, and a second oval fastener 524. A third jewelry chain 530 includes a third chain 531, a third oval ring 532, and a third oval fastener 534. A fourth jewelry chain 540 includes a fourth chain 541, a fourth oval ring 542, and a fourth oval fastener 544.

In accordance with an embodiment, second chain 521, third chain 531, and fourth chain 541 have three different lengths. For example, third chain 531 may be longer than fourth chain 541, and second chain 521 may be longer than third chain 531.

Each oval fastener may be connected to a selected oval ring in a well-known manner. Oval fasteners 514, 524, 534, 544 may have similar sizes or may be of different sizes. Oval rings 512, 522, 532, 542 may have similar sizes or may have different sizes. Other types of fasteners may be used.

FIG. 6 shows a necklace constructed of the components shown in FIG. 5 in accordance with an embodiment. First jewelry chain 510 is adapted to fit around the back of a wearer's neck. Second jewelry chain 520, third jewelry chain 530, and fourth jewelry chain 540 are adapted to visibly hang in a cascading fashion at the front of the user's neck on the chest.

Thus, as shown in FIG. 6, second oval fastener 524, third oval fastener 534, and fourth oval fastener 544 are removably connected to first oval ring 512. First oval fastener 514 is removably connected to second oval ring 522, third oval ring 532, and fourth oval ring 542.

In another embodiment, a necklace similar to that shown in FIG. 6 may be constructed using circular-shaped rings and circular-shaped fasteners.

In other embodiments, the portion of a necklace that fits around the user's neck may include a plurality of sections. Each of the sections may have a connector (e.g., a ring, a transverse bar, a fastener, etc.) at each end. The sections may be connected to each other to form a neck portion of a necklace.

For example, FIG. 7A shows components of a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. The necklace of FIG. 7A includes first jewelry chain 710 with two first chains 713 and 717, and certain components similar to or identical to components shown in FIG. 2. Thus, second jewelry chain 220 includes second chain 221, second ring 222, second transverse bar 224; third jewelry chain 230 includes third chain 231, third ring 232, and third transverse bar 234; and fourth jewelry chain 240 includes fourth chain 241, fourth ring 242, and fourth transverse bar 244.

First chains 713, 717 connect together to form a neck portion of the necklace. In this example, first chain 713 has rings 712 and 722 on its respective ends; first chain 717 has transverse bars 714 and 724 on its respective ends. First chains 713, 717 may be joined to create a chain that fits around the user's neck. In another embodiment, each first section 713, 717 may have a ring on one end and a transverse bar on the other end.

Using the components shown in FIG. 7A, a user may create a necklace having cascading chains 220, 230, 240 attached to ring 712 and to transverse bar 714, in the manner described herein, and then place the entire necklace around the neck by attaching ring 722 and transverse bar 724.

FIG. 7B shows components of a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. The necklace of FIG. 7B a first jewelry chain 760 with two first chains 783 and 787, and certain components similar to or identical to components shown in FIG. 5. Thus, second jewelry chain 520 includes second chain 521, second oval ring 522, and second oval fastener 524; third jewelry chain 530 includes third chain 531, third oval ring 532, and third oval fastener 534; and fourth jewelry chain 540 includes fourth chain 541, fourth oval ring 542, and fourth oval fastener 544.

First chain 783 has oval rings 762 and 772 on its respective ends, and first chain 787 has oval fasteners 764 and 774 on its respective ends. First chains 783, 787 may be joined to create a chain that fits around the user's neck. In another embodiment, each first chain 783, 787 may have an oval ring on one end and an oval fastener on the other end.

Using the components shown in FIG. 7B, a user may create a necklace having cascading chains 520, 530, 540 attached to oval ring 762 and to oval fastener 764, in the manner described herein, and then place the entire necklace around the neck by attaching oval ring 772 to oval fastener 774.

In another embodiment, a user may use one or more of the components of a necklace to create a bracelet. For example, FIG. 8A shows selected components of the necklace of FIGS. 2-3 worn on a user's wrist. Specifically, in this example, the user has disassembled the necklace and has created a bracelet by wrapping chain 211 around wrist 890 of user's hand 892 and connecting ring 212 and transverse bar 214. The user has also created a bracelet from chain 241 by connecting ring 242 and transverse bar 244. If a chain is sufficiently long, the chain may be wrapped multiple times around the wrist. The user may create any number of bracelets in this manner.

In another example shown in FIG. 8B, components of the necklace of FIGS. 5-6 are worn on a user's wrist. Specifically, in this example, the user has created a bracelet by wrapping chain 511 around the wrist and connecting oval ring 512 and oval fastener 514. The user has also created a bracelet from chain 541 by connecting oval ring 542 and oval fastener 544. The user may create any number of bracelets in this manner.

Thus, in accordance with an embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar, and the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.

In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener, a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener, and a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener. The second chain and the third chain have different lengths. The second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener, and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.

FIGS. 9A and 9B show clasps that may be used to create a necklace in accordance with other embodiments. FIG. 9A is a clasp 900 includes two opposing oval-shaped hooks 904, 906. Hooks having different shapes may be used. FIG. 9B is a clasp 950 that includes two opposing oval hooks 954, 956 connected by a plurality of beads 962. Hooks having different shapes may be used. In other embodiments, a clasp may include any number of beads (e.g., only one bead, two beads, or more than three beads).

FIGS. 9C-9E show other clasps in accordance with other embodiments. FIG. 9C shows a clasp 970 that includes an oval-shaped ring portion 971 and a closure mechanism 972. FIG. 9D shows a clasp 990 that includes a circular-shaped ring portion 991 and a closure mechanism 992. FIG. 9E shows clasp 975 with elliptical ring portion 976 and closure mechanism 977.

FIGS. 9F-9H show a jewelry chain in accordance with the invention. FIG. 9F shows a chain 995 and two rings 997, 998 connected to the ends of chain 995. FIG. 9G shows a chain 980 with a ring 981 at one end and a clasp 982 having a latch 983 at the other end. FIG. 9H shows a chain 985 having a clasp 986 with a latch 987 at one end and a clasp 988 with a latch 989 at the other end. As shown in FIGS. 9F-9H, the rings and the clasps are fixed to the chain.

In accordance with an embodiment, components similar to those shown in FIGS. 9A-9H may be used to create a necklace. FIG. 10A shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 1000 includes a first chain 1002 having rings 1003, 1014 at its ends, a second chain 1004 having rings 1005, 1013 at its ends, and a clasp 1008 similar to clasp 900 of FIG. 9A. A clasp 1023, similar to clasp 900 of FIG. 9A, is connected to ring 1013, and a clasp 1024 is connected to ring 1014. Three jewelry chains each similar to that shown in FIG. 9F are connected to clasps 1023, 1024. Thus a third jewelry chain 1033 having rings 1036, 1038 at its two ends is connected to clasps 1023, 1024. A fourth jewelry chain 1043 having rings 1046, 1048 at its ends is connected to clasps 1023, 1024. Similarly, a fifth jewelry chain 1053 having rings 1056, 1058 at its ends is connected to clasps 1023, 1024.

In accordance with an embodiment, components similar to those shown in FIGS. 9A-9H may be used to create a necklace as shown in FIG. 10B. As shown in FIG. 10B, necklace 1000A has a first chain 1002A having rings 1113A and 1114A at each end. Clasp 1023A similar to clasp 975 in FIG. 9E is connected to ring 1013A and a clasp 1024A is connected to ring 1014A. Three jewelry chains each similar to those shown in FIG. 9F are connected to clasps 1023A and 1024A. Thus, a second chain 1033A has rings 1036A and 1038A at its two ends to connect to clasps 1023A and 1024A. A third chain 1043A having to rings 1046A and 1048A at its ends to connect to clasps 1023A and 1024A. A fourth chain 1053A has rings 1056A and 1058A at each of its ends and the rings are connected to clasps 1023A and 1024A as illustrated.

Thus, a user may use the components shown in FIGS. 9A and 9H to create a necklace having cascading chains, and then place the entire necklace around the neck by wrapping chains 1102, 1104, around the neck and attaching rings 1003, 1005 to clasp 1008, or placing chain 1002A around the neck and allowing chains 1033A, 1043A and 1053A to cascade down the front of the chest of the user.

In accordance with another embodiment, components similar to those shown in FIGS. 9A-9H may be used to create a necklace. FIG. 11 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 1100 includes a first chain 1102 having rings 1103, 1114 at its ends, a second chain 1104 having rings 1105, 1113 at its ends, and a clasp 1108 similar to clasp 900 of FIG. 9A. A clasp 1123 with two hooks and a plurality of beads, similar to clasp 950 of FIG. 9B, is connected to ring 1113, and a clasp 1124 is connected to ring 1114. Three jewelry chains each similar to that shown in FIG. 9F are connected to clasps 1123, 1124. Thus a third chain 1133 having rings 1136, 1138 at its two ends is connected to clasps 1123, 1124. A fourth chain 1143 having rings 1146, 1148 at its ends is connected to clasps 1123, 1124. Similarly, a fifth chain 1153 having rings 1156, 1158 at its ends is connected to clasps 1123, 1124.

Thus, a user may use the components shown in FIGS. 9A, 9b and 9F to create a necklace having cascading chains, and then place the entire necklace around the neck by attaching ring 1103, 1105 to clasp 1108.

FIG. 12A is a flowchart of a method of constructing a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. For example, the method of FIG. 12A may be used to construct necklaces similar to those shown in FIGS. 10A and 11. At step 1210, a plurality of chains are selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. At step 1220, a first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook are selected. At step 1230, the first ring is removably connected to the first hook, and the second ring is removably connected to the third hook. At step 1240, the third ring is removably connected to the second hook and the fourth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook. At step 1250, the fifth ring is removably connected to the second hook and the sixth ring is removably connected to the fourth hook.

FIG. 12B is a flowchart of a method of constructing a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. For example, the method of FIG. 12B may be used to construct a necklace similar to the one shown in FIG. 10B. At step 1212, a plurality of chains are selected, including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, where in the second chain and the third chain have different lengths. At step 1222, a first clasp having a first latch and a second clasp having a second latch are selected. At step 1232, the first ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the second ring is removably connected to the second clasp. At step 1242, the third ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the fourth ring is removably connected to the second clasp. At step 1252, the fifth ring is removably connected to the first clasp and the sixth ring is removably connected to the second clasp.

In accordance with another embodiment, a clasp such as those shown in FIGS. 9C-9E may be used to create a bracelet. FIG. 13 shows a bracelet in accordance with an embodiment. Bracelet 1300 is worn around a person's wrist 1305. Bracelet 1300 includes three chains 1343, 1345, 1347, each of which in the illustrative embodiment has a different style. For example, in the illustrative embodiment, chain 1343 has round or circular shaped links, chain 1345 has diamond shaped links, etc. Alternatively, chain 1343 may have round or circular shaped stones, chain 1345 may have diamond shaped stones, etc. Chains 1343, 1345, 1347 are wrapped around the person's wrist 1305 and connected to a clasp 1322, which is similar to clasp 990 of FIG. 9D. Other types of clasps may be used. For example, clasps similar to those shown in FIGS. 9A-9B may be used to create a bracelet.

FIG. 14 shows a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. Necklace 1400 includes a first chain 1402 which is permanently attached at its ends to a first clasp 1405 and to a second clasp 1407, which are similar to clasp 900 of FIG. 9A. Thus each of clasps 1405, 1407 has two hooks. Necklace 1400 also includes a second chain 1420, which has rings 1422, 1424 at its two ends, and a third chain 1430, which has rings 1432, 1434 at its two ends. Third chain 1430 is longer than second chain 1420. Second chain 1420 and third chain 1430 are attached to clasps 1405, 1407. In particular, ring 1422 of second chain 1420 is attached to clasp 1405, and ring 1424 of second chain 1420 is attached to clasp 1407. Ring 1432 of third chain 1430 is attached to clasp 1405, and ring 1434 of third chain 1430 is attached to clasp 1407. A pendant 1450 is attached to and hangs from chain 1430. In the illustrative embodiment, pendant 1450 is heart-shaped; in other embodiments, pendant 1450 may have other shapes.

FIG. 15A shows a chain and clasp in accordance with another embodiment. Chain 1500 includes rings 1505, 1508 at its respective ends. Chain 1500 is attached to a clasp 1530. Clasp 1530 has an oval ring portion 1532, which has a gap 1534. Clasp 1530 also includes a latch mechanism 1536 that can open and close. When latch mechanism 1536 is open, gap 1534 is open, allowing a user to attach a ring or hoop of a chain, for example. When latch mechanism 1536 is closed, gap 1534 is closed. While clasp 1530 is oval-shaped in the illustrative embodiment, in other embodiments, clasp 1530 may be circular, or have a different shape.

FIG. 15B shows a chain and clasp in accordance with another embodiment. Chain 1550 includes rings 1555, 1558 at its respective ends. Chain 1550 is attached to a clasp 1580. Clasp 1580 has a ring portion 1582, which has a gap 1584. Clasp 1580 also includes a latch mechanism 1586. When latch mechanism 1586 is open, gap 1584 is open, enabling a user to attach a ring or hoop of a chain, for example. When closed, latch mechanism 1586 covers gap 1584 and also covers a portion of ring portion 1582. While clasp 1580 is circular in the illustrative embodiment, in other embodiments clasp 1580 may be oval, or have a different shape.

FIG. 16 shows a clasp in accordance with another embodiment. Clasp 1600 includes a first element having a first curved portion 1610 and a first eyelet 1612, and a second element having a second curved portion 1620 and a second eyelet 1622. Ring 1635 passes through first eyelet 1612 and through second eyelet 1622.

Clasp 1600 may be used to construct a necklace or bracelet. FIG. 17 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 1700 includes clasp 1600, a first chain 1710, a second chain 1720, and a third chain 1730. The two ends of first chain 1710 are connected respectively to first and second curved portions 1610, 1620 of clasp 1600. Second chain 1720 is similarly connected at its ends to first and second curved portions 1610, 1620 of clasp 1600. Third chain 1730 is also similarly connected at its ends to first and second curved portions 1610, 1620 of clasp 1600. In the illustrative embodiment, second chain 1720 is shorter in length than first chain 1710, and third chain 1730 is shorter in length than second chain 1720.

FIG. 18A shows components of a clasp mechanism in accordance with another embodiment. The clasp mechanism includes an S-shaped clasp 1800 having a first curved portion 1810 and a second curved portion 1820. The clasp mechanism also includes a first end tip 1850-A and a second end tip 1850-B.

End tips 1850-A, 1850-B fit on the ends of the curved portions 1810, 1820 of clasp 1800, as shown in FIG. 18B. For example, a user may use two fingers to place an end tip 1850 onto the end of a selected one of the curved portions 1810, 1820. In the illustrative embodiment of FIG. 18B, end tip 1850-A is placed onto the end of curved portion 1810, and end tip 1850-B is placed on the end of curved portion 1820. When fitted onto the end of a curved portion of a clasp, an end tip may help to secure a chain or ring on the clasp (and ensure that the chain or ring does not slip off the clasp, for example).

FIG. 18C shows an end tip in accordance with an embodiment. End tip 1850 includes rim portion 1852 and a cover portion 1854. A cavity 1857 adapted to receive the end of a portion of a clasp is defined within cover portion 1854. End tip 1850 may comprise any suitable material such as plastic, foam, cloth, etc.

End tips such as those shown in FIGS. 18A-18C may be used with any type of clasp apparatus that has a first end and a second end. For example, end tips may be used with a round-shaped clasp, a square or rectangular-shaped clasp, an oval-shaped clasp, or a clasp having another shape.

The clasp mechanism shown in FIGS. 18A-18B may be used to construct a necklace or bracelet. For example, FIG. 19 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 1900 includes clasp 1800 (with end tips 1850-A, 1850-B), a first chain 1910, a second chain 1920, and a third chain 1930. A first end of first chain 1910 is connected to first curved portion 1810 of clasp 1800 and a second end of first chain 1910 is connected to second curved portion 1820 of clasp 1800. A first end of second chain 1920 is connected to first curved portion 1810 of clasp 1800 and a second end of second chain 1920 is connected to second curved portion 1820 of clasp 1800. A first end of third chain 1930 is connected to first curved portion 1810 of clasp 1800 and a second end of third chain 1930 is connected to second curved portion 1820 of clasp 1800. End tips 1850-A and 1850-B are secured on the ends of curved portions 1810, 1820 and ensure that chains 1910, 1920, and 1930 do not slip off the ends of clasp 1800.

A clasp similar to that shown in FIG. 18A may also be used to construct a bracelet. FIG. 20 shows a bracelet 2060 worn on a user's wrist in accordance with an embodiment. Bracelet 2060 includes a clasp mechanism that includes a clasp 2000 and end tips 2050-A, 2050-B. Three chains 2010, 2020, 2030 are connected to clasp 2000, and secured thereon by end tips 2050-A, 2050-B. The bracelet 2060 is worn on a user's wrist 2004.

FIGS. 21A-21C show a clasp in accordance with another embodiment. Clasp 2100 includes first and second halves 2105-A, 2105-B which are connected by a hinge 2160. First and second halves 2105-A, 2105-B are adapted to move on hinge 2160 from an open position to a closed position. An adjustable latch 2120 is attached to half 2105-B and is adapted to move from an open position to a latched position. When in the latched position, latch 2120 secures the clasp in the closed position.

FIG. 21A shows clasp 2100 in the open position, in which halves 2105-A, 2105-B are separated, defining an opening 2163 between halves 2105-A, 2105-B.

FIG. 21B shows clasp 2100 in the closed position in which halves 2105-A, 2105-B have been brought together, closing opening 2163. In FIG. 21B, latch 2120 is in an open position.

FIG. 21C shows clasp 2100 in a latched position, in which latch 2120 has been latched shut and is in a latched position. In the illustrative embodiment, latch 2120 engages with a latching element 2126. In other embodiments, other types of latching mechanisms may be used.

In various embodiments, clasp 2100 may be used to create a bracelet or necklace. FIG. 22 shows a bracelet in accordance with an embodiment. Bracelet 2200 includes clasp 2100 and three jewelry chains 2210, 2220, and 2230. Each chain 2210, 2220, 2230 has two respective ends that are connected by respective rings to clasp 2100. In other embodiments, a chain may be connected to a clasp using another connecting mechanism.

FIG. 23 shows a bracelet in accordance with an embodiment. Bracelet 2200A includes a clasp 2100 and four chains 221022202230 and 2240. Each chain has two respective ends with rings thereon to connect to clasp 2100. Chain 2240 is shown as smaller in length than the other chains such that chain 2240 fits tightly on the wrist of the user and holds the bracelet in place while allowing the other chains to move freely for ornamental purposes.

FIGS. 24A-24C show a bracelet in accordance with an embodiment. FIG. 24A illustrates jewelry chain 2400 which comprises a chain 2402, a clasp 2404 with a latch 2406 and a ring 2408. Clasp 2404 and ring 2408 are at opposite ends of chain 2402 and are permanently fixed to chain 2402. FIG. 24B shows three jewelry chains 2410, 2420 and 2430. Each jewelry chain is made up of a chain 2412, 2422 and 2432 each having rings 2414, 2424, 2434, 2416, 2426 and 2436 at each respective end. The jewelry chains illustrated in FIGS. 24A and 24B are used to make bracelet 2450 as shown in FIG. 24C. Clasp 2404 holds rings 2408, 2414, 2416, 2424, 2426, 2434 and 2436 so as to form bracelet 2450 around wrist 2440. It can be seen that jewelry chain 2400 is shorter than jewelry chains 2410, 2420 and 2430 such that jewelry chain 2400 secures the bracelet to the wrist 2440 and allow jewelry chains 2410, 2420 and 2432 to move about.

FIGS. 25A and 25B illustrate necklace 2500 in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 2500 is made up of four chains. A first jewelry chain 2502 which has chain 2504 with clasps 2506 and 2508 at each end. These clasps are illustrated in FIG. 25B which illustrates a clasp 2510 having a latch 2512 and C-shaped portion 2514. Latch 2512 is hinged on C-shaped portion 2514. Jewelry chains 2520, 2530 and 2540 are connected to jewelry chain 2502 so as to form the necklace 2500. Jewelry chain 2520 is made up of chain 2522 having rings 2524 and 2526 fixed at each end. Hanging from chain 2522 is pendant 2550 by means of ring 2552. Ring 2552 is fixed to pendant 2550 such a different pendants can be placed on chain 2522 so as to allow the user to create different necklaces of different designs. Jewelry chain 2530 is made up of chain 2532 having rings 2534 and 2536 fixed at each end. Jewelry chain 2540 has chain 2542 with rings 2544 and 2546 fixed at each end. Clasp 25 holds rings 2524, 2534 and 2544. Clasp 2508 holds rings 2526, 2536 and 2546.

By employing jewelry necklace 2502, a plurality of different jewelry chains can be attached to the clasps so as to form a myriad of different necklaces. Additionally, different pendants can be attached to the different chains so as to form a myriad of different necklaces.

In accordance with another embodiment, a necklace includes first and second clasps connected together, and a plurality of chains arranged such that each chain is connected at one end to the first clasp and at the other end the second clasp. For example, FIG. 26 shows a necklace in accordance with an embodiment. Necklace 2600 includes a first clasp 2606, which includes a latch 2608, and a second clasp 2616, which includes a latch 2618. In the illustrative embodiment, clasps 2606 and 2616 have a circular shape; however, in other embodiments clasps having other shapes may be used.

Clasps 2606 and 2616 are similar to clasp 2100 shown in FIGS. 21A-21C. Thus, each clasp has an open position and a closed position. Latch 2608 is adapted to move from an open position to a latched position. When in the latched position, latch 2608 secures clasp 2606 in the closed position. Similarly, latch 2618 is adapted to move from an open position to a latched position. When in the latched position, latch 2618 secures clasp 2616 in the closed position.

Necklace 2600 also includes a plurality of chains 2670, 2680, 2690. Chains 2670, 2680, and 2690 are connected to clasps 2606 and 2616.

Chain 2670 has a first ring 2624 at a first end and a second ring 2626 at a second end. Ring 2624 is connected to clasp 2606 and ring 2626 is connected to clasp 2616.

Chain 2680 has a first ring 2634 at a first end and a second ring 2636 at a second end. Ring 2634 is connected to clasp 2606 and ring 2636 is connected to clasp 2616.

Chain 2690 has a first ring 2644 at a first end and a second ring 2646 at a second end. Ring 2644 is connected to clasp 2606 and ring 2646 is connected to clasp 2616.

In other embodiments, other types of clasps and/or other types of chains may be used. For example, while circular clasps are shown, clasps having other shapes (oval, square, triangular), or other fastening mechanisms may be used.

FIG. 27 shows a necklace in accordance with another embodiment. Necklace 2700 includes a first clasp 2706, which includes a closure mechanism 2708, and a second clasp 2716, which includes a closure mechanism 2718. Clasps 2706 and 2716 are similar to clasp 990 shown in FIG. 9D. Thus, each closure mechanism 2708, 2718 is adapted to move from an open position to a closed position.

Necklace 2700 also includes a plurality of chains 2770, 2780, 2790. Chains 2770, 2780, and 2790 are connected to clasps 2706 and 2716.

Chain 2770 has a first ring 2724 at a first end and a second ring 2726 at a second end. Ring 2724 is connected to clasp 2706 and ring 2726 is connected to clasp 2716.

Chain 2780 has a first ring 2734 at a first end and a second ring 2736 at a second end. Ring 2734 is connected to clasp 2706 and ring 2736 is connected to clasp 2716.

Chain 2790 has a first ring 2744 at a first end and a second ring 2746 at a second end. Ring 2744 is connected to clasp 2706 and ring 2746 is connected to clasp 2716.

FIG. 28 illustrates bracelet 2800 having two clasps and three chain where one of the chains is a guard chain. In FIG. 28, bracelet 2800 is illustrated around wrist 2802 of the user. Bracelet 2800 has a first clasp 2810 which has a circular ring portion 2812 with a closure mechanism 2814. First clasp 2810 is connected to second clasp 2820. Second clasp 2820 has a circular ring portion 2812 and closure mechanism 2814. Chain 2830 is connected by first ring 2832 to first clasp 2810 at one end of chain 2830 and connected by second ring 2834 to clasp 2820 at the other end of chain 2830. Chain 2830 is smaller in length than the other chains illustrated in FIG. 28 and acts as a guard chain to fit tightly on the wrist of the user and hold the bracelet on the wrist of the user while allowing the other chains to dangle and move freely with the wrist movements of the user. Chain 2840 is connected by first ring 2842 to clasp 2810 at one end of the chain 2840 and is connected to clasp 2820 by second ring 2844 at the other end of chain 2840. Chain 2850 is connected by first ring 2852 to clasp 2810 at one end of chain 2850 and is connected to clasp 2820 by second ring 2854 at the other end of chain 2850. Clasp 2810 and 2820 is similar to clasp 990 shown in FIG. 9D, however, any of the clasps shown in FIGS. 9C, 9E, 13, 15A, 21A, 25B, 26 and 27 can be used.

In one method to assemble bracelet 2800, the user first threads first rings 2832, 2842, and 2852 on to open clasp 2810 and threads second rings 2834, 2844, and 2854 on to open clasp 2820. In other words, one end of each chain is connected to one of the open clasps and the other end of each chain is connected to the other of the open clasps. Then the user puts the bracelet around the wrist and closes the two clasps around each other to connect the two clasps as shown in FIG. 28 and form the bracelet around the user's wrist. The guard chain will hold the bracelet on the wrist of the user and allow the other chains to dangle and move in conjunction with the movement of the user's wrist.

In other embodiments, other types of clasps and/or other types of chains may be used. For example, clasps having other shapes may be used. In other embodiments, other types of fastening mechanisms may be used.

Thus, the present invention can be seen as a system for making necklaces and bracelets having an unlimited number of designs by mixing and matching a variety of jewelry chains.

The present invention can be defined by one or more of the following numbered paragraphs.

1. A necklace comprising:

at least one first chain having a first ring and a first fastener; and

a second chain having a second ring and a second fastener;

wherein the second ring is removably connected to the first fastener; and the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener.

2. The necklace of item 1, further comprising:

a third chain having a third ring and a third fastener;

wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;

wherein the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first fastener; and

wherein the first ring is removably connected to the second fastener and to the third fastener.

3. The necklace of item 2, wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.

4. The necklace of item 2, further comprising:

a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth fastener;

wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths;

wherein the fourth ring is removably connected to the first fastener;

wherein the first ring is removably connected to the fourth fastener.

5. The necklace of item 2, wherein:

each of the first ring, the second ring, and the third ring is one of an oval-shaped ring and a circular-shaped ring; and

each of the first fastener, the second fastener, and the third fastener is one of an oval shaped-fastener and a circular-shaped fastener.

6. The necklace of item 2, wherein the at least one first chain comprises a first section and a second section, wherein the first section includes two rings and the second section includes two fasteners.

7. A necklace comprising:

at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar;

a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar; and

a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar;

wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;

wherein the second ring and the third ring are removably connected to the first transverse bar; and

wherein the first ring is removably connected to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.

8. The necklace of item 7, wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.

9. The necklace of item 7, further comprising:

a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar;

wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths;

wherein the fourth ring is removably connected to the first transverse bar;

wherein the first ring is removably connected to the fourth transverse bar.

10. The necklace of item 7, wherein:

the first ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring;

the second ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring; and

the third ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring.

11. The necklace of item 7, wherein the at least one first chain comprises a first section and a second section, wherein the first section includes two rings and the second section includes two transverse bars.

12. A method of constructing a necklace, the method comprising:

selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a first transverse bar, a second chain having a second ring and a second transverse bar, and a third chain having a third ring and a third transverse bar, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;

removably connecting the second ring and the third ring to the first transverse bar; and

removably connecting the first ring to the second transverse bar and to the third transverse bar.

13. The method of item 12, wherein each of the at least one first chain, the second chain, and the third chain measures between 6 inches and 30 inches.

14. The method of item 12, further comprising:

selecting a fourth chain having a fourth ring and a fourth transverse bar;

removably connecting the fourth ring to the first transverse bar; and

removably connecting the first ring to the fourth transverse bar;

wherein the second chain, the third chain, and the fourth chain have different lengths.

15. The method of item 12, wherein:

the first ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring;

the second ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring; and

the third ring is one of a circular-shaped ring and an oval-shaped ring.

16. A necklace comprising:

a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook;

a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook;

a first chain connected to the first oval shaped hook;

a second chain connected to the third oval shaped hook;

a third chain having a first length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook;

a fourth chain having a second length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook; and

a fifth chain having a third length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.

17. The necklace of item 16, further comprising:

a third clasp, wherein the first chain and the second chain are connected to the third clasp.

18. The necklace of item 16, wherein:

the first clasp includes the first oval shaped hook, the second oval shaped hook, and one or more first beads disposed between the first oval shaped hook and the second oval shaped hook; and

the second clasp includes the third oval shaped hook, the fourth oval shaped hook, and one or more second beads disposed between the third oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook.

19. A bracelet comprising:

a clasp having a ring and a closing mechanism, wherein the ring is one of circular shaped and oval shaped; and one or more chains connected to the clasp.

20. A method of constructing a necklace, the method comprising:

selecting a plurality of chains including at least one first chain having a first ring and a second ring, and a second chain having a third ring and a fourth ring, and a third chain having a fifth ring and a sixth ring, wherein the second chain and the third chain have different lengths;

selecting a first clasp having a first hook and a second hook and a second clasp having a third hook and a fourth hook;

removably connecting the first ring to the first hook, and the second ring to the third hook;

removably connecting the third ring to the second hook and the fourth ring to the fourth hook; and

removably connecting the fifth ring to the second hook and the sixth ring to the fourth hook.

21. A necklace comprising:

a first clasp including a first oval shaped hook and a second oval shaped hook;

a second clasp including a third oval shaped hook and a fourth oval shaped hook;

a first chain connected permanently to the first oval shaped hook and to the third oval shaped hook;

a second chain having a first length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook;

a third chain having a second length connected to the second oval shaped hook and the fourth oval shaped hook; and

a pendant connected to the third chain.

22. A clasp comprising:

a first element comprising a first curved portion and a first eyelet;

a second element comprising a second curved portion and a second eyelet; and

a ring;

wherein the ring passes through the first eyelet and the second eyelet.

23. A clasp apparatus comprising:

a clasp element comprising a first end and a second end;

a first end tip adapted to fit over the first end; and

a second end tip adapted to fit over the second end.

24. An item of jewelry comprising:

the clasp apparatus of item 23; and

at least one chain having a third end and a fourth end, the third end and fourth end being connected to the clasp element.

25. The item of jewelry of item 24, wherein the item of jewelry comprises one of a necklace and a bracelet.

26. The bracelet of item 19, wherein

the ring includes a gap and a latch adapted to open and close the gap, the latch being the closure mechanism.

27. The bracelet of item 26, wherein the one or more chains include a first chain, a second chain, a third chain, and a fourth chain;

the first chain having the clasp at one end and a second ring at the other end;

the second chain having a third ring at one end and a fourth ring at the other end;

the third chain having a fifth ring at one end and a sixth ring at the other end;

the fourth chain having a seventh ring at one end and an eighth ring at the other end; and

the ring of the clasp encircling the second ring, the third ring, the fourth ring, the fifth ring, the sixth ring, the seventh ring, and the eighth ring, and the latch closing the gap to form the bracelet.

28. The bracelet of item 27, wherein

at least two of the first, second, third and fourth chains have different styles.

29. The bracelet of item 28, wherein

each of the first, second, third and fourth chains has one of: round shaped links, diamond shaped links, round stones, and diamond shaped stones.
