Claims
- 1. A nematicidal composition, comprising: an effective amount of a compound or a mixture of compounds having the formula:
- 2. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 wherein R1 or R2 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aryl or heteroaryl group.
- 3. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 wherein R3 and R8 are unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl groups, or unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aryl or heteroaryl group.
- 4. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 wherein R3 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aryl or heteroaryl group.
- 5. The nematicidal composition of claim 2 wherein R1 is a tert-butyl group and R2 is hydrogen.
- 6. The nematicidal composition of claim 2 wherein R1 is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or phenylazophenyl group and R2 is hydrogen.
- 7. The nematicidal composition of claim 3 where both R1 and R2 are isopropyl groups.
- 8. The nematicidal composition of claim 4 wherein R3 is a benzyl group.
- 9. The nematicidal composition of claim 5 wherein R3 is hydrogen.
- 10. The nematicidal composition of claim 6 wherein R3 is hydrogen.
- 11. The nematicidal composition of claim 7 wherein R3 is hydrogen.
- 12. The nematicidal composition of claim 8 where both R1 and R2 are hydrogens.
- 13. The nematicidal composition of claim 9 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is —OH.
- 14. The nematicidal composition of claim 10 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is —OH.
- 15. The nematicidal composition of claim 11 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is —OH.
- 16. The nematicidal composition of claim 12 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is —OH.
- 17. The nematicidal composition of claim 9 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphate group or a phosphate diester group.
- 18. The nematicidal composition of claim 10 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphate group or a phosphate diester group.
- 19. The nematicidal composition of claim 11 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphate group or a phosphate diester group.
- 20. The nematicidal composition of claim 12 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphate group or a phosphate diester group.
- 21. The nematicidal composition of claim 9 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 22. The nematicidal composition of claim 10 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 23. The nematicidal composition of claim 11 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 24. The nematicidal composition of claim 12 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The nematicidal composition of claim 9 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 26. The nematicidal composition of claim 10 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The nematicidal composition of claim 11 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 28. The nematicidal composition of claim 12 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The nematicidal composition of claim 9 where one of R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 30. The nematicidal composition of claim 10 where one of R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The nematicidal composition of claim 11 where one of R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The nematicidal composition of claim 12 where one of R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 33. The nematicidal compositions of claim 1 where X is an ethyl, phenyl, pivaloyloxymethyl or phenoxyethyl ester.
- 34. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 or claim 33 wherein the composition further comprises an aqueous surfactant.
- 35. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 or claim 33 wherein the composition further comprises a permeation enhancer.
- 36. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 or claim 33 the composition further comprises a co-solvent.
- 37. The nematicidal composition of claim 1 or claim 33 further comprising a nematicide selected from the group consisting of: avermectins (e.g., ivermectin), milbemycin, aldicarb, oxamyl, fenamiphos, fosthiazate and metam sodium.
- 38. A method for control of unwanted nematodes, the method comprising administering to vertebrates, plants, seeds or soil a nematicidal composition comprising:
- 39. The method of claim 38 wherein one of R1 and R2 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aromatic group.
- 40. The method of claim 38 wherein R1 and R2 are unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl groups, or unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aromatic groups.
- 41. The method of claim 38 wherein R3 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted alkyl group, or an unsubstituted, singly substituted, or multiply substituted aromatic group.
- 42. The method of claim 39 wherein R1 is a tert-butyl group and R2 is hydrogen, or wherein R2 is a tert-butyl group and R1 is hydrogen.
- 43. The method of claim 39 wherein R1 is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or a substituted or unsubstituted phenylazophenyl group and R2 is hydrogen, or wherein R2 is a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl or a substituted or unsubstituted phenylazophenyl group and R1 is hydrogen.
- 44. The method of claim 40 where both R1 and R2 are isopropyl groups.
- 45. The method of claim 41 wherein R3 is a benzyl (—CH2C6H5) group.
- 46. The method of claim 42 wherein R3 is hydrogen.
- 47. The method of claim 43 wherein R3is hydrogen.
- 48. The method of claim 44 wherein R3 is hydrogen.
- 49. The method of claim 45 where both R1 and R2 are hydrogens.
- 50. The method of claim 46 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is an —OH group.

- 52. The method of claim 48 where n=0, R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is an —OH group.

The method of claim 48 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 49 where R4 and R5 are hydrogen and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 46 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 47 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 48 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 49 where R4 and R5 are fluorine and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.

The method of claim 49 where one R4 and R5 is hydrogen and the other is fluorine, and X is a phosphonate group or a phosphonate diester group or a sulfonate group or a sulfonate ester group or a sulfonyl fluoride group or a sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfonamide group or a trifluoromethyl sulfone group or an alkyl group or a hydrogen.
- 70. The method of claim 38 where X is an ethyl, phenyl, pivaloyloxymethyl or phenoxyethyl ester.
- 71. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 wherein the composition further comprises an aqueous surfactant.

- 74. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 further comprising a nematicide selected from the group consisting of: avermectins (e.g., ivermectin), milbemycin, aldicarb, oxamyl, fenamiphos, fosthiazate and metam sodium.
- 75. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 wherein the nematode infects plants and the nematicidal composition is applied to the soil or to plants.
- 76. The method of claim 75 wherein the nematicidal composition is applied to soil before planting.
- 77. The method according to claim 75 where the nematicidal composition is applied to soil after planting.
- 78. The method of claim 75 wherein the nematicidal composition is applied to soil using a drip system.
- 79. The method of claim 75 wherein the nematicidal composition is applied to soil using a drench system.
- 80. The method of claim 75 wherein the nematicidal composition is applied to plant roots or plant foliage (e.g., leaves, stems).
- 81. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 wherein the nematicidal composition is applied to seeds.
- 82. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 wherein the nematode infects a vertebrate.
- 83. The method of claim 38 wherein the nematicidal composition is administered to non-human vertebrate.
- 84. The method of claim 38 or claim 70 wherein the nematicidal composition is administered to a human.
- 85. The method of claim 83 or claim 70 wherein the nematicidal composition is formulated as a drench to be administered to a non-human animal.
- 86. The method of claim 82 or claim 70 wherein the nematicidal composition is formulated as an orally administered drug.
- 87. The method of claim 82 or claim 70 wherein the nematicidal composition is formulated as an injectable drug.
- 88. A nematicidal feed for a non-human vertebrate comprising:
(a) a feed; (b) a nematicidal composition, comprising: an effective amount of a compound or a mixture of compounds having the formula: 29wherein: each R1, R2, R3 and R8 is, independently, singly or multiply substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, or aryl, heteroaryl group or a hydroxy, alkoxy, oxo, or hydrogen; each R4 and R5 is, independently, hydrogen or halogen; n=0 or 1; X is —H or an alkyl group or —OH or —OPO3H2 (phosphate), or —PO3H2 (phosphonate), or —SO3H (sulfonate), or —SO2F (sulfonyl fluoride), —SO2NH2 (sulfonamide), —NHSO2CF3 (trifluoromethyl sulfonamide), —SO2CF3 (trifluoromethyl sulfone), —OPO3R6R7 (phosphate ester or diester), —PO3R6R7 (phosphonate ester or diester), —SO3R6 (sulfonate ester); R6 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted or multiply substituted alkyl, phenyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkoxyaryl; R7 is an unsubstituted, singly substituted or multiply substituted alkyl, phenyl, alkoxyalkyl or alkoxyaryl.
- 89. The nematicidal feed of claim 88 wherein the feed has been treated to reduce choline content.
- 90. The nematicidal feed of claim 88 wherein the feed is selected from the group consisting of: soy, wheat, corn, sorghum, millet, alfalfa, clover, and rye.
