Claims
- 1. In a communication system supporting communication within a premises, a method of communicating voice messages among a plurality of mobile transceiver units utilizing a plurality of base transceiver units and a network controller, said plurality of base transceiver units, said plurality of mobile transceiver units and said network controller being located within said premises, said method comprising:
- digitizing by one of said plurality of mobile transceiver units a signal indicative of a voice message;
- segmenting by said one of said plurality of mobile transceiver units said digitized signal;
- linking at least two of said plurality of base transceiver units with said network controller via a plurality of communication ports on said network controller;
- configuring by said network controller said plurality of communication ports to be communicatively compatible with said linked at least two of said plurality of base transceiver units;
- managing by said network controller communication of said digitized and segmented signal among selected ones of said linked at least two of said plurality of base transceiver units and selected others of said plurality of mobile transceiver units; and
- after receipt and after assembly of all of the segments of the digitized voice message, synthesizing by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the assembled digitized voice messages.
- 2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:
- assembling by another of said plurality of mobile transceiver units said digitized and segmented signal; and
- synthesizing by said another of said plurality of mobile transceiver units said assembled signal.
- 3. The method of claim 1 wherein the at least two of the plurality of base transceiver units linked with the network controller via the plurality of communication ports on the network controller are linked by a plurality of different electrical interfaces.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of communication ports configured to be communicatively compatible with the linked at least two of said plurality of base transceiver units are configured to communicate with the linked at least two of the plurality of base transceiver units according to a plurality of different communication protocols.
- 5. In a communication system supporting communication within a premises, a method of communicating voice messages and data messages among a plurality of mobile transceiver units utilizing plurality of base transceiver units, the plurality of base transceiver units and the plurality of mobile transceiver units being located within the premises, each of the plurality of base transceiver units supporting communication with each of the plurality of mobile transceiver units, the method comprising:
- digitizing by a first of the plurality of mobile transceiver units voice messages; segmenting by the first of the plurality of mobile transceiver units data messages and the digitized voice messages;
- routing within the premises the data message segments and the voice messagesegments wherein each of the voice message segments and the data message segments compete equally for available bandwidth via the first of the plurality of mobile transceiver units to at least one of the plurality of base transceiver units
- receiving by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the segments of digitized voice messages;
- assembling by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the segments of digitized voice messages; and
- synthesizing by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the assembled digitized voice messages.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units only performing the synthesizing after all of the segments of a digitized voice message has been received and assembled.
- 7. In a communication system supporting communication within a premises, a method of communicating a voice message among a plurality of mobile transceiver units utilizing a plurality of base transceiver units, the plurality of base transceiver units and the plurality of mobile transceiver units being located within the premises, the method comprising:
- digitizing by a first of the plurality of mobile transceiver units a voice message;
- segmenting by the one of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the digitized voice message;
- routing within the premises the segments of the voice message via at least one of the plurality of base transceiver units to a second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units;
- receiving by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the segments of the digitized voice message;
- assembling by the second of the plurality of mobile transceiver units the segments of the digitized voice message; and
- after receipt and after assembly of all of the segments of the digitized voice message, synthesizing by the second of the plurality of mobile units the assembled digitized voice message.
- 8. The method of claim 7 further comprising segmenting by the one of the plurality of mobile transceiver units a data message, and wherein the segments of the data message are routed via the at least one of the plurality of base transceiver units.
