Claims
- 1. A heterocyclic thermostable polymer comprising recurring units of at least one of the types represented by the general formulae ##STR11## wherein Ar is a tetravalent aromatic radical which comprises one or more aromatic rings, and the four valences of which are located, by pairs, on adjacent carbon atoms of the same ring, R is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical or an aryl radical, and the arrows indicate a possible isomerism.
- 2. A polymer according to claim 1, having an inherent viscosity, as measured at 30.degree. C at a concentration of 0.4 g per 100 ml of meta-cresol of from 0.6 to 3 dl/g.
- 3. A polymer according to claim 1, wherein in the formula of said recurring units, R is phenyl.
- 4. A polymer according to claim 1, wherein said radical Ar is derived from a tetraamine selected from the group consisting of 1,2,4,5-tetra-aminobenzene, 2,3,6,7-tetra-amino-naphthalene, 2,3,5,6-tetra-amino-pyridine, 2,3,5,6-tetra-amino-pyrazine, 3,3'-diamino-benzidine, bis-(3,4-diamino-phenyl)ether, bis-(3,4-diamino-phenyl)methane, bis-(3,4-diamino-phenyl)ketone, bis-(3,4-diamino-phenyl)sulfide, bis-(3,4-diamino-phenyl)sulfone, 3,3',4,4'-tetra-amino-benzhydrol, 3,3',4,4'-tetra-amino-benzanilide, 3,3',4,4'-tetra-amino-diphenyl-dimethyl-silane, bis-(3',4'-diamino-4-phenoxy-phenyl)ether and 1,3-bis-(3,4-diamino-phenoxy)benzene.
- 5. A polymer according to claim 1, comprising recurring units of both of said types.
- 6. A polymer according to claim 1, wherein R is a hydrogen atom and Ar is derived from 3,3'-diaminobenzidine.
- 7. A polymer according to claim 3, wherein Ar is derived from 3,3'-diaminobenzidine, bis-(3,4-diaminophenyl) ether or 1,2,4,5-tetraaminobenzene.
