Claims
- 1. Bis(haloacylaromatic) compounds having the formula ##STR13## wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are independently selected from ##STR14## and which may be the same or different and wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chlorine, bromine, an alkyl or an alkoxy group having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, a phenyl group or substituted phenyl group ##STR15## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 have the aforesaid meaning, X is chlorine or bromine and A is a single valence bond, oxygen, sulfur, ##STR16## an aromatic group having the formula ##STR17## X, R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 having the aforesaid meanings and wherein n is an integer from 1 to 6, Q is a ##STR18## and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are independently selected from hydrogen, halogen, an alkyl or haloalkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms or an aryl group having from 6 to 10 carbon atoms.
- 2. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is oxygen.
- 3. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is a single valence bond.
- 4. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is sulfur.
- 5. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is the ##STR19## radical.
- 6. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is the --C.tbd.C-- radical.
- 7. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is the >N--R.sub.1 radical.
- 8. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is >P--R.sub.1.
- 9. The compounds of claim 1 wherein A is a methylene group.
- 10. The compounds of claim 2 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are each ##STR20##
- 11. The compounds of claim 10 wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each hydrogen on each of B.sub.1 and B.sub.2.
- 12. The compounds of claim 10 wherein at least one of the R groups is an alkyl radical and the remainder are hydrogen.
- 13. The compounds of claim 12 wherein the alkyl radical is methyl.
- 14. The compounds of claim 13 wherein B.sub.1 is phenylene and B.sub.2 is tolylene.
- 15. The compounds of claim 2 wherein B.sub.1 is ##STR21## and B.sub.2 is ##STR22##
- 16. The compounds of claim 15 wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each hydrogen.
- 17. The compounds of claim 10 wherein A is ##STR23##
- 18. The compounds of claim 17 wherein n is 1.
- 19. The compounds of claim 3 wherein B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are each ##STR24##
- 20. The compounds of claim 19 wherein each of R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 in each of B.sub.1 and B.sub.2 are hydrogen.
- 21. The compounds of claim 2 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
- 22. The compounds of claim 3 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
- 23. The compounds of claim 9 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
- 24. The compounds of claim 10 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
- 25. The compounds of claim 20 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
- 26. The compounds of claim 20 wherein Q is >C.dbd.O.
- 27. The compounds of claim 2 wherein Q is ##STR25##
- 28. The compounds of claim 2 where Q is ##STR26##
- 29. The compounds of claim 10 wherein Q is >CCl.sub.2.
