Claims
- 1. A method of treating an animal with pyrophosphate gout comprising administering an effective amount of a calcium antagonist, thereby reducing calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposition in the animal.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein the animal is a mammal.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the mammal is a human.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein the calcium antagonist is diltiazem.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein the calcium antagonist is nifedipine.
- 6. A method of treating an animal with osteoarthritis comprising administering an effective amount of a calcium antagonist, thereby reducing calcium pyrophosphate crystal deposition in the animal.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein the animal is a mammal.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the mammal is a human.
- 9. The method of claim 6, wherein the calcium antagonist is diltiazem.
- 10. The method of claim 6, wherein the calcium antagonist is nifedipine.
