Claims
- 1. An adsorbent for use in a cyclic pressure swing adsorption process for the separation of nitrogen from a mixture thereof with oxygen by selective adsorption of nitrogen, which comprises a zeolite X having a framework SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 molar ratio of from 2.0 to 2.4 and containing from 60 to 89 equivalent percent Ca.sup.++ cations, from 10 to 40 equivalent percent Na.sup.+ cations and from about 0.1 to about 10 percent K.sup.+ cations, the total cation equivalency contributed by Ca.sup.++, Na.sup.+ and K.sup.+ being at least 90 percent.
- 2. Adsorbent of claim 1 further characterized in that the zeolite X has a SiO.sub.2 /Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 molar ratio of from 2.0 to 2.35, its cation population comprising from 65 to 80% calcium cations, from 20 to 35% sodium cations, and from about 0.1 to about 1% potassium cations.
