Claims
- 1. A novel compound of the formula ##STR22## where R is a substituted or unsubstituted organo group having at least two carbon atoms, R.sup.1 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected C.sub.1-13 monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals, R.sup.4 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido; x is equal to 1 or 2 and y is equal to 0 to 2 inclusive.
- 2. The compound of claim 1 wherein R is a C.sub.2-13 aliphatic organic radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkylether, alkylester, alkylketone and alkylcyano or a C.sub.6-30 aromatic organic radical selected from aryl, aralkyl and alkaryl.
- 3. The compound of claim 1 wherein R is a C.sub.3-8 linear aliphatic organic radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkylether and alkylketone or a C.sub.6-18 aromatic organic radical selected from aryl, aralkyl and alkaryl.
- 4. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.1 has from 1 to 13 carbon atoms.
- 5. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.1 has from 1 to 8 carbon atoms.
- 6. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 have from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, respectively.
- 7. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected from methyl and ethyl.
- 8. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.4 has from 1 to 13 carbon atoms.
- 9. The compound of claim 1 wherein R.sup.4 has from 1 to 8 carbon atoms.
- 10. A novel compound of the formula ##STR23## where R is a C.sub.3-8 linear aliphatic organic radical selected from the group consisting of alkyl, alkylether and alkylketone or a C.sub.6-18 aromatic organic radical selected from aryl, aralkyl and alkaryl; R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1-8 hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected C.sub.1-4 monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals, R.sup.4 is a C.sub.1-8 hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido; x is equal to 1 or 2 and y is equal to 0 to 2 inclusive.
- 11. A method for making a novel compound of the formula ##STR24## comprising reacting a silane of the formula ##STR25## with a silazane of the formula ##STR26## where R is a substituted or unsubstituted organo group having at least two carbon atoms; R.sup.1 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected C.sub.1-13 monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals; R.sup.4 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido, x is equal to 1 to 3 and y is equal to 0 to 3.
- 12. A method for making a novel compound of the formula ##STR27## comprising reacting a silane of the formula ##STR28## with a silane of the formula ##STR29## where R is a substituted or unsubstituted organo group having at least two carbon atoms, R.sup.1 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido; R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are independently selected C.sub.1-13 monovalent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals; R.sup.4 is a hydrolyzable leaving group selected from the group consisting of alkoxy, amido, amino, carbamato, enoxy, imidato, isocyanato, oximato, thioisocyanato and ureido, x is equal to 1 to 3, y is equal to 0 to 3 and X is a halogen.
- 13. The method of claim 12 wherein about one mole of aminosilane is reacted with about two moles of halosilane.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein the halogen is chlorine.
