Claims
- 1. In a fastener assembly including a pin having a head at one end, a cylindrical shank integral with the head, and a threaded shaft extending from said shank, said threaded shaft comprises:spaced threaded portions, each of which having a pair of flanks at an approximate angle of 60° each; said pair of flank being truncated and defining an outer major diameter D1, the imaginary point where said flanks would meet when extended to an apex being defined at point D; opposing flank of adjacent spaced threaded portions further defining a root diameter d1, the imaginary point where said opposing flanks of adjacent spaced threaded portions would meet being defined at point d; the distance between D and d being defined by H and the distance between D1 and d1 being defined by h; said distance h being about 55% to 65% of the distance H; and said root diameter being continuous and having a constant radius; a nut having a main body portion with a threaded throughbore threadably mounted on said threaded shaft of said pin, the thread of said nut formed to mate with the thread of said pin, said nut having an outer periphery remote from the shaft of said pin configured irregularly for engagement by a like configured installation tool.
- 2. The assembly of claim 1 including nut-locking means for non-removably locking said nut to said pin shaft portion.
- 3. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut-locking means includes a portion of said nut deformed into engagement with said threaded shaft portion of said pin.
- 4. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut outer periphery has a plurality of protrusions extending away from said pin for engagement by a like configured installation tool.
- 5. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut outer periphery is slotted from one terminal end of said nut to the other for engagement by a like configured installation tool.
- 6. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut outer periphery includes said main body portion of said nut having periphery with a plurality of spaced cutout areas extending about the periphery thereof.
- 7. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut outer periphery includes said nut having a hexagonally shaped nut portion at the terminal end of said threaded throughbore remote from said pin for engagement by an installation tool.
- 8. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said nut outer periphery includes said nut having a plurality of spaced protrusions at the terminal end of said threaded throughbore remote from said pin extending in a direction normal to the central longitudinal axis of said nut for engagement by a like configured installation tool.
