Claims
- 1. An independent lift comprising:
- a single vertical post, said post having a top end and a bottom end, each vertical post being capable of being secured by the bottom end to a solid substrate;
- an independent lifting arm, said lifting arm having a near end and a distal end, said lifting arm being attached to a first rotatable shaft at its near end, said first rotatable shaft having an outer end and an inner end, said shaft being supported on each of the outer and inner ends by a bearing situated in a first bearing housing, said shaft being supported by the bearing within the first bearing housing;
- said first bearing housing being attached to the top of the vertical post;
- said first bearing housing having mounted near the near end of the first rotatable shaft a non-rotating sprocket;
- said lifting arm being secured near the distal end to a second bearing housing;
- a lifting bar being rotatably secured in the second bearing housing and being supported by a bearing within the second bearing housing;
- said lifting bar extending through the second bearing housing to provide support for a rotating sprocket rigidly affixed to the lifting bar;
- said non-rotating sprocket and said rotating sprocket being connected by a non-rotating chain;
- a first gear detachedly fixed to the first rotatable shaft at the outer end;
- a second gear aligned and meshing with the first gear, said second gear rigidly mounted on and capable of rotating around a stationary shaft on the vertical post;
- a drive shaft attached to the second gear and capable of turning simultaneously with the second gear;
- the lifting bar having a lifting chair rigidly attached to it by a chair support shaft;
- a means of driving the drive shaft of the second gear.
- 2. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the drive shaft is powered by manually turning the drive shaft.
- 3. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the drive shaft is powered by a water pump.
- 4. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the drive shaft is powered by air.
- 5. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first and second gears are helical gears.
- 6. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the first and second gears are worm gears.
- 7. An independent lift as claimed in claim 1 wherein the gears are a combination of helical gears and worm gears.
- 8. An independent lift comprising:
- a single vertical post, said post having a front, a back, a top end and bottom end, said vertical post being capable of being secured by the bottom end to a solid substrate, said vertical post having a plate rigidly affixed to the bottom end, said plate having a top surface, said plate having a connector means detachedly fixed to the top surface;
- an independent lifting arm, said lifting arm having a midpoint, a near end, a distal end, and a back surface, said lifting arm being attached to a first rotatable shaft at the near end, said first rotatable shaft having an outer end and an inner end, said shaft being supported on each of the outer and inner ends by a bearing situated in a first bearing housing, said shaft being supported by the bearing within the first bearing housing;
- said first bearing housing being fixedly attached to the top of the vertical post;
- said first bearing housing having mounted near the near end, a non-rotating sprocket;
- said lifting arm being secured near the distal end to a second bearing housing;
- a lifting bar being rotatably secured in the second bearing housing and being supported by a bearing within the second bearing housing;
- said lifting bar extending through the bearing housing to provide support for a rotating sprocket rigidly affixed to the lifting bar;
- said non-rotating sprocket and said rotating sprocket being connected by a non-rotating chain;
- said lifting arm having a rigid brace with a near end and a distal end said rigid brace fixedly attached at the near end to the back surface of the lifting and at or near the midpoint of the lifting arm;
- a hydraulic assembly having a fixed end and a shaft end, said hydraulic assembly having a housing, a movable piston therein and a piston shaft attached to the piston, said hydraulic assembly mounted on the top surface of the bottom plate by the connector means, the piston shaft pivotally attached to the distal end of the rigid brace on the lifting arm;
- said independent lift being adapted by means to power the piston in each piston assembly;
- the vertical post having attached on the back surface, a manifold to accommodate the power means;
- the lifting bar having a lifting chair rigidly attached to it by a chair support shaft, said chair being provided with a control to control the movement of the lift chair.
- 9. An independent lift comprising:
- a single vertical post, said post having a front, a back, a top end and a bottom end, said vertical post being capable of being secured by the bottom end to a solid substrate;
- an independent lifting arm, said lifting arm having a near end and a distal end, said lifting arm being attached to a first rotatable shaft at the near end, said first rotatable shaft having an outer end and an inner end, said shaft being supported on each of the inner and outer ends by a bearing situated in a first bearing housing, said shaft being supported by the bearing within the first bearing housing;
- said first bearing housing being fixedly attached within a rack and pinion housing fixedly surmounting the vertical post;
- said first bearing housing having mounted near the near end, a non-rotating sprocket;
- said lifting arm being secured near the distal end to a second bearing housing;
- a lifting bar being rotatably secured in the second bearing housing having a bearing located therein and said lifting bar being supported by the bearing therein;
- said lifting bar extending through the bearing housing to provide support for a rotating sprocket rigidly affixed to the lifting bar;
- said non-rotating sprocket and said rotating sprocket being connected by a non-moving chain;
- the lifting bar having a lifting chair rigidly attached thereto by a chair support shaft, said chair being provided with a control;
- said first rotating shaft having mounted on the distal end a spur pinion gear in parallel axis alignment with a rack, one end of said rack having threadedly adapted thereto in linear alignment with said rack, a threaded, elongated bar having a distal end, said distal end of the elongated bar linearly extending outside the rack and pinion housing;
- a piston, said piston having a center aperture and an outside perimeter, said piston being detachedly mounted on the elongated bar via said aperture, said piston being housed in a piston housing having an inside surface and said piston having one or more seals around its outside perimeter to seal the piston against the inside surface of the piston housing;
- said piston housing having two separable ends, each separable end having an outside perimeter and at least two rod openings near said outside perimeter, each said end being coupled to the piston housing by two or more elongated rods, each said elongated rod having threaded ends, said coupling being provided by threaded fasteners on each of the threaded ends, each said threaded fastener being compressed tightly against said separable ends;
- a means of powering the piston;
- a means of controlling the movement of the piston, mounted on the lift chair.
- 10. A control valve,
- said control valve comprising a base and surmounted on said base, two, independent, essentially identical control blocks and a solid wall block, one such control block being surmounted by the wall block, the other control block surmounting the wall block;
- a means of locking the blocks in a rigid configuration;
- the wall block having two side walls, a top surface, a bottom surface, a left end and a right end, said wall block extending beyond the control blocks at the right end, and said wall block having an elongated notch at the right end thereof, said notch extending through the wall block from the top surface through the bottom surface, said wall block having an aperture through the right end extending from the front side wall through the back side wall;
- each said control block having a front side wall and a back side wall, a right end and a left end and an open center core having an internal surface, said open center core running through each said control block from the right end to the left end; each of the front side walls having two ports therein extending through to the open center core; said ports being spaced apart and located nearer the right end of the front side walls of the control blocks; each of the back side walls having two ports therein extending through to the open center core, said ports being spaced apart and located nearer the left end of the back side walls of the control block;
- each said open center core containing four elastomeric seals, said seals being circular in configuration and conforming essentially to the diameter of the internal surface of the open center core, one each of the seals being positioned such that it is located adjacent a port opening through the back side wall;
- two identical valve stems capable of having a resting position and being located respectively in the open center core such that the valve stem extends beyond each of the left and right ends of the combination of control blocks and wall block;
- each valve stem having a right end and a left end, a front side wall and a back side wall;
- each said valve stem having spring supports oh the left end thereof, said spring support having a compressible spring slidably mounted thereon;
- each said valve stem having two notches in each of the side walls, extending from the top to the bottom, each notch in the front side walls being aligned with a respective port in the front side wall of the control blocks when the valve stem is in a resting position and each notch in the back side wall of the valve stem being aligned with a respective port in the back side wall of the control blocks when the valve stem is in a resting position;
- a means to retain each valve stem in the open center core;
- a valve stem reception cover covering the left end of the valve stem and compressible spring, said cover having a back side with an internal surface and said cover being detachedly fixed to the combination of control blocks and wall block;
- the internal wall of said back wall having a centered indention therein to accommodate the spring support when a respective valve stem is advanced in the open center core, each indention having an aperture centered therein through the back wall thereof;
- the extended right end of each of the valve stems being contacted by a control handle, said control handle being comprised of an elongated rod surmounted by a gripping knob, said elongated rod having a lower end, said lower end having an aperture therethrough, the aperture in said handle being aligned with the aperture in the side walls of the right end of the wall block and having a pin inserted therethrough to lock the handle in the wall block such that the lower end of the handle does not rest on the base.
