Claims
- 1. A method for treating a tumor, said method comprising application of at least one nordihydroguaiaretic acid derivative of the formula
- 2. The method of claim 1 wherein said tumor is HPV induced.
- 3. The method of claim 2 wherein said tumor is cervical or oral cancer.
- 4. The method of claim 1 wherein said tumor is present in a mammal.
- 5. The method of claim 4 wherein said tumor is malignant.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein said tumor is selected from the group consisting of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma and medulloblastoma.
- 7. The method of claim 4 wherein said tumor is benign.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein said tumor is selected from the group consisting of papilloma, teratoma and adenoma.
- 9. The method of claim 4 wherein said tumor is a solid tumor.
- 10. The method of claim 4 wherein said mammal is a human.
- 11. The method of claim 4 wherein said tumor is derived from transformed cells.
- 12. The method of claim 11 wherein said cells are C3 cells.
- 13. The method of claim 1 wherein said nordihydroguaiaretic acid derivative is administered along with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or carrier.
- 14. The method of claim 13 wherein said excipient or carrier is dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO).
- 15. The method of claim 1 wherein said derivative is tetra-O-methyl nordihydroguiaretic acid (M4N) or tetraglycinyl nordihydroguaiaretic acid (G4N).
- 16. The method of claim 1 wherein tetra-O-methyl nordihydroguaiaretic acid is administered along with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or carrier.
- 17. A pharmaceutical composition comprising tetra-O-methyl nordihydroguaiaretic acid along with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or carrier.
- 18. The composition of claim 17 wherein said excipient or carrier is DMSO.
- 19. A compound of the formula
- 20. A method of synthesizing a compound according to claim 19 as shown in Scheme 1.
- 21. A method of synthesizing a compound according to claim 19 comprising the steps of
combining NDGA and an N,N,-dimethyl derivative of an amino acid in a dichloromethane solution; adding DCC and DMAP to said solution; adding acetone and bubbling said solution with excess HCl to obtain said compound.
- 22. A pharmaceutical composition comprising tetraglycinylnordihydroguaiaretic acid along with at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient or carrier.
- 23. The composition of claim 22 wherein said excipient or carrier is physiological saline.
- 24. Tetraglycinylnordihydroguaiaretic acid.
- 25. A method of inhibiting CD2 in a eukaryotic cell cycle comprising administrtion of a compound of formula
- 26. The method of claim 25 wherein said cell is an animal cell.
- 27. The method of claim 26 wherein said cell is a mammalian cell.
- 28. The method of claim 27 wherein said cell is a human cell.
- 29. Use of a compound according to claim 19 as a pharmaceutical.
- 30. Use of a compound according to claim 19 for treating a tumor.
