Claims
- 1. A process for producing a normally solid, bioabsorbable, hydrolyzable polymeric reaction product comprising heating at its melting point (A) a polyglycolic acid composition having a molecular weight of at least 30,000; adding to the molten polyglycolic acid composition (B) from about 2% to about 50%, by weight, based on the total weight of (A) and (B) of a polyester of diglycolic acid and an unhindered glycol having a molecular weight sufficiently high so as to provide a polymeric material possessing self-supporting film-forming properties, and continuing the heating of the mixture at or above the melting temperature of the polyglycolic acid until the transesterification reaction is substantially completed.
