Claims
- 1. A wound covering for application to a wound area of a patient's body, the wound covering comprising:
- a sealing ring, having an upper surface and a lower surface, and defining an open cavity;
- a barrier layer spanning the sealing ring and attached to the sealing ring proximate the upper surface, over the open cavity, and spaced apart from the lower surface by the sealing ring;
- attachment means proximate the lower surface for attaching the sealing ring around a wound area; and
- a heater supported in the barrier layer over the open cavity for heating tissue.
- 2. The wound covering of claim 1 in which the heater comprises an active heater.
- 3. The wound covering of claim 1 in which the heater comprises a passive heat reflecting layer.
- 4. The wound covering of claim 1 in which the heater comprises a warm water pad.
- 5. The wound covering of claim 1 in which the heater comprises an exothermic chemical heating pad.
- 6. The wound covering of claim 1 in which the heater comprises a phase change salt pad.

No. 08/785,794 titled NORMOTHERMIC HEATER WOUND COVERING and U.S. patent application Ser. No. 08/786,714 titled NEAR HYPERTHERMIC HEATER WOUND COVERING, both filed concurrently herewith.
