Claims
- 1. A method for inhibiting fungal growth comprising applying to the area where growth is to be controlled an antifungally effective amount of a compound of formula I:. ##STR6## wherein Z.sub.1 Z.sub.2 and Z.sub.3 are each independently selected from
- a) H;
- b) C.sub.1-5 alkyl;
- c) C.sub.1-5 alkyl substituted with
- a member of the group consisting of
- i) phenyl,
- ii) phenyl substituted with methyl, methoxy, halogen (Cl, Br, I, F) or hydroxy; or
- a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of a compound of formula (I) in which at least one of Z.sub.1, Z.sub.2 and Z.sub.3 is hydrogen.
- 2. A method for inhibiting fungal growth, in a living organism in need of such treatment comprising the oral, systemic, or parenteral administration of an antifungally effective amount of a compound of claim 1.
- 3. A method of claim 2 wherein the living organism is a mammal.
- 4. A method of claim 2 wherein living organism is a bird.
- 5. A method of claim 2 wherein the living organism is a plant.
- 6. A method of claim 2 wherein the compound is selected from the group consisting of: ##STR7##
