Claims
- 1. A process for producing an antibiotic, which comprises cultivating Saccharopolyspora hirsuta KC-6606 strain, isolating the antibiotic KA 6606 having the formula, ##STR7## wherein R represents a member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, --COCH.sub.2 NH.sub.2, --COCH.sub.2 NHCONH.sub.2 and --COCH.sub.2 NHCHO from the culture broth, and separating from the resulting antibiotic KA-6606 at least one antibiotic selected from the group consisting of antibiotic KA-6606 I having the formula, ##STR8## antibiotic KA-6606 II having the formula, ##STR9## antibiotic KA-6606 III having the formula, ##STR10## and antibiotic KA-6606 IV having the formula, ##STR11##
- 2. The process of claim 1 which further comprises treating the resulting antibiotic with a pharmaceutically acceptable inorganic or organic acid to obtain an antibiotic in the form of an acid addition salt.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the cultivation is performed under aerobic conditions at a temperature of about 20.degree. C. to about 40.degree. C.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the separated compound selected from antibiotics KA-6606 I, KA-6606 III and KA-6606 IV is treated with an alkali or acid to convert it to antibiotic KA-6606 II.
