Claims
- 1. A method for the inhibition of cellular proliferation in autoimmune disorders and inflammatory diseases wherein said method comprises administering an effective amount of dicytostatin-1, or an analog or salt thereof, to a human or animal in need of such treatment.
- 2. The method, according to claim 1, wherein the following compound is administered:
- 3. The method, according to claim 1, wherein said method is used in the prevention or treatment of a condition selected from the group consisting of diabetes, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis.
- 4. The method, according to claim 1, wherein said method is used for immunosuppression in conjunction with organ transplants.
- 5. A method for the induction of polymerization of tubulin and the stabilization of microtubules in non-cancer cells by administering to said cells an effective amount of dictyostatin-1 or an analog or salt thereof.
- 6. The method, according to claim 5, wherein the following compound is administered:
- 7. A pharmaceutical composition to be used for the inhibition of cellular proliferation in autoimmune disorders and inflammatory diseases wherein said composition comprises an effective amount of dictyostation-1, or an analog, derivative or salt thereof.
- 8. The composition, according to claim 7, wherein said composition comprises a compound having the following structure:
- 9. A method for the efficient preparation of dictyostatin-1 wherein said method comprises isolating and purifying dictyostatin-1 from the lithistid sponge of the family Corallistidae.
