Claims
- 1. The process which comprises subjecting a polyether having a molecular weight of about 200 to about 25,000 and whose main chain is composed of a combination of the following structural units arranged linearly at random and which contains 0.1 to 10% by weight of chlorine, bromine or iodine atoms as bonded in the moledule:
- -CF.sub.2 CF.sub.2 O-a-CF.sub.2 O-b-O-c
- wherein
- a+b=2-230,
- b/a=0.1-10, and
- c/(a+b)=0-0.1
- to fluorine gas treatment at a temperature of about 150.degree. C. to about 300.degree. C., to thereby reduce the active cholorine, bromine or iodine atoms in the molecule.
- 2. A process according to claim 1 wherein said treatment with fluorine gas is at a temperature of about 180.degree. C. to about 240.degree. C.
- 3. A process according to claim 1 wherein said fluorine gas is diluted with an inert gas.
- 4. A process according to claim 3 wherein said inert gas is nitrogen.
- 5. A process according to claim 2 wherein said fluorine gas is diluted with an inert gas.
- 6. A process according to claim 5 wherein said inert gas is nitrogen.
