Claims
- 1. A method for inhibiting bacterial growth which comprises applying to said bacterial growth an antibacterially effective amount of a compound having the formula: ##STR16## wherein X and Y each represent a member which may be the same or different selected from the group consisting of H and Cl with the proviso that X and Y cannot represent H simultaneously; R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represent a member which may be the same or different selected from the group consisting of n- or branched alkyl of from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, phenyl, naphthyl and ##STR17## wherein m represents an integer of from 2 to 5; n represents an integer of 1 to 8; and Z represents --OOCR.sub.3, wherein R.sub.3 represents n- or branched alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl acetate.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl propionate.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl butyrate.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl isobutyrate.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl valerate.
- 7. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl isovalerate.
- 8. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl hexanoate.
- 9. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl octanoate.
- 10. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl decanoate.
- 11. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl dodecanoate.
- 12. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl tetradecanoate.
- 13. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl hexadecanoate.
- 14. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl octadecanoate.
- 15. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N-Chloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl 2,2-dimethylpropionate.
- 16. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl acetate.
- 17. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl propionate.
- 18. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl butyrate.
- 19. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl isobutyrate.
- 20. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl valerate.
- 21. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl isovalerate.
- 22. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:

- 26. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:

- 27. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl hexadecanoate.
- 28. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl octadecanoate.
- 29. The method of claim 1, wherein said compound is:
- 2-N,N-Dichloroamino-2-methyl-1-propyl 2,2-dimethylpropionate.
