Claims
- 1. An object detection apparatus, comprising:
an image-pickup unit for picking up the image of a target region, a first recording device for accumulating, as a reference image, an image signal obtained from said image-pickup unit, a second recording device for storing a table for defining surveillance information on said image signal, an object detection processing unit for detecting an object from said image signal obtained from said image-pickup unit and said reference image obtained from said first recording device, said object becoming a target, a memory table for storing a processing result obtained by said object detection processing unit, and a display unit, wherein said image signal from said image-pickup unit is saved based on said table, and said processing result is displayed on said display unit, said table defining said surveillance information and being stored into said second recording device, said processing result being obtained by said object detection processing unit and being saved into said memory table.
- 2. The object detection apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said surveillance information in said table stored into said second recording device is modified based on said display of said processing result, said processing result being obtained by said object detection processing unit and being displayed on said display unit.
- 3. The object detection apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising a third recording device for recording a predetermined image signal from said image-pickup unit, said object detection processing unit further having a function of detecting said object from said image signal obtained from said third recording device and said reference image obtained from said first recording device, said object becoming said target.
- 4. The object detection apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said second recording device has stored predetermined surveillance information in said table stored into said second recording device, and information related with said reference image stored into said first recording device.
- 5. The object detection apparatus according to claim 4, wherein said first recording device has stored a masking image for masking a predetermined portion of said target region of said image-pickup unit.
- 6. The object detection apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said surveillance information stored in said table within said second recording device is at least a saving point-in-time of said image signal from said image-pickup unit and a detection condition for said object.
- 7. The object detection apparatus according to claim 3, further comprising a retrieval unit, said retrieval unit retrieving said predetermined image signal recorded into said third recording device.
- 8. The object detection apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said memory table for storing said processing result is provided in said second recording device.
- 9. The object detection apparatus according to claim 6, wherein, if said processing result obtained by said object detection processing unit has exceeded said detection condition for said object, said image signal from said image-pickup unit is judged to be abnormal.
- 10. The object detection apparatus according to claim 1, wherein at least said first and second recording devices are configured as an integrated recording device.
- 11. An object detection method, comprising the steps of:
picking up the image of a target region by an image-pickup unit so as to acquire an image signal, updating a reference image recorded based on said image signal, detecting an object from said image signal obtained from said image-pickup unit and said recorded reference image, said object becoming a target, recording a detection result obtained at said object detecting step, and displaying said recorded detection result, wherein said image signal from said image-pickup unit is outputted based on a table for defining surveillance information on said image signal.
- 12. The object detection method according to claim 11, wherein said surveillance information in said table is modified based on said display of said object detection result.
- 13. The object detection method according to claim 12, further comprising a step of recording said image signal acquired by picking up said image of said target region by said image-pickup unit, said object detecting step further including a step of detecting said object from said recorded image signal and said recorded reference image, said object becoming said target.
- 14. The object detection method according to claim 11, wherein said step of detecting said object from said image signal and said reference image further includes a step of masking a predetermined portion of said target region, said object becoming said target.
- 15. The object detection method according to claim 11, wherein said surveillance information stored in said table is at least a saving point-in-time of said image signal from said image-pickup unit and a detection condition for said object.
- 16. The object detection method according to claim 13, further comprising a step of retrieving said recorded image signal, and a step of detecting said object from said image signal and said reference image, said object becoming said target, said image signal being acquired by said retrieval.
- 17. The object detection method according to claim 15, further comprising a step of judging that said image signal from said image-pickup unit is abnormal if said object detection result has exceeded said detection condition for said object.
- 18. A surveillance-system maintenance method in a surveillance system comprising plural surveillance apparatuses and an operating device connected to said plural surveillance apparatuses via transmission paths,
each of said plural surveillance apparatuses, comprising:
an image-pickup unit for picking up the image of a target region, a first recording device for accumulating, as a reference image, an image signal obtained from said image-pickup unit, a second recording device for storing a table for defining surveillance information on said image signal, an object detection processing unit for detecting an object from said image signal obtained from said image-pickup unit and said reference image obtained from said first recording device, said object becoming a target, a first memory table for storing a processing result obtained by said object detection processing unit, and a display unit, said surveillance-system maintenance method, comprising the steps of:
selecting any one of said plural surveillance apparatuses by using said operating device, displaying said contents on a display unit of said operating device, said contents being stored in said first memory table of said selected surveillance apparatus, and modifying, based on said displayed contents, said surveillance information recorded in said second recording device.
- 19. The surveillance-system maintenance method according to claim 18, wherein said operating device further includes a second memory table, said second memory table recording a maintenance time-and-date and maintenance contents for each of said plural surveillance apparatuses.
- 20. The surveillance-system maintenance method according to claim 19, wherein said second memory table has further recorded information about an expense in correspondence with said maintenance contents.
- 21. An object detecting apparatus maintenance method in an object detecting apparatus,
said object detecting apparatus, comprising:
an image-pickup device for picking up the image of an object in a target region, a recording device for recording an image signal and predetermined surveillance information, said image signal being outputted from said image-pickup device, a detection processing unit for detecting said object in said target region with respect to said image signal and on the basis of said surveillance information, and a display unit for displaying a processing result obtained by said detection processing unit, said object detecting apparatus maintenance method, comprising the steps of:
displaying, on said display unit, said processing result from said detection processing unit, and modifying, based on said processing result, said surveillance information recorded in said recording device, said processing result being displayed on said display unit.
- 22. The object detecting apparatus maintenance method according to claim 21, wherein said step of displaying on said display unit includes a step of detecting said object in said target region from said recorded image signal and predetermined surveillance information.
- 23. The object detecting apparatus maintenance method according to claim 22, wherein said step of displaying on said display unit further includes a step of retrieving said recorded image signal and predetermined surveillance information, and a step of detecting said object in said target region from said image signal and said predetermined surveillance information which have been acquired by said retrieval.
- 24. An object detection method according to a detection scheme where a predetermined object in a target region is detected based on a parameter set onto an image signal in said target region,
said object detection method, comprising the processing steps of:
recording surveillance information when there appears at least one event of a case where said object has been detected, a case where an input image has become abnormal, and a case where a predetermined time-period has elapsed, said surveillance information being information including said parameter and being used for performing the surveillance of said predetermined object, and displaying a surveillance result of said object in a manner of having been reproduced based on said recorded surveillance information.
- 25. The object detection method according to claim 24, wherein, further, said parameter set onto said image signal is modified based on said reproduction display.
- 26. The object detection method according to claim 25, wherein said processing step of reproducing said surveillance result of said object includes a surveillance-information retrieval step of selecting and retrieving predetermined surveillance information out of said recorded surveillance information.
- 27. The object detection method according to claim 25, further comprising a processing step of recording information as to whether or not said object continues to be detected on a predetermined time-interval basis.
- 28. An object detection apparatus according to a detection scheme where a predetermined object is detected by image signals that are sequentially inputted from an image-pickup device,
said object detection apparatus, comprising: said image-pickup device for sequentially picking up the images of a target region, an image input interface for converting video signals into said sequential image signals, said video signals being acquired by said image-pickup device, surveillance-information recording means for recording surveillance information, said surveillance information being information for performing the surveillance of said object, and processing means for processing either of said image signals and said surveillance information in accordance with processing steps determined in advance, said image signals resulting from said conversion by said image input interface, said surveillance information being recorded into said surveillance-information recording means, wherein
said processing means records plural pieces of surveillance information into said surveillance-information recording means, retrieves objective surveillance information from among said plural pieces of surveillance information recorded into said surveillance-information recording means, reads said objective surveillance information from said surveillance-information recording means, and reproduces a surveillance result of said object on the basis of said objective surveillance information.
- 29. The object detection apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said second recording device has stored predetermined surveillance information in said table stored into said second recording device, and information related with said reference image stored into said first recording device.
- 30. The object detection apparatus according to claim 2, wherein said surveillance information stored in said table within said second recording device is at least a saving point-in-time of said image signal from said image-pickup unit and a detection condition for said object.
- 31. The object detection apparatus according to claim 29, wherein said first recording device has stored a masking image for masking a predetermined portion of said target region of said image-pickup unit.

No. 10/387, 433 filed on Mar. 14, 2003 in the names of Wataru Ito, Shinya Ogura and Hirotada Ueda, and assigned to the same assignee of the present application, and entitled “object detection method using an image-pickup device with easy detection masking region setting and object detection apparatus using the method”.
