Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an exercising machine and, more particularly, to an exercising machine with an oblong orbit or cycle.

2. Description of the Related Art

A conventional exercising machine in accordance with the prior art shown in FIG. 1 comprises a main frame 11, an upright post 14 mounted on the front portion of the main frame 11, two swinging handles 15 each having an upper end pivotally connected with the upright post 14, a freewheel 12 mounted on the rear portion of the main frame 11, two pivot members 13 mounted on two opposite sides of the freewheel 12, two links 16 each having a first end pivotally connected with the lower end of a respective one of the swinging handles 15 and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the pivot members 13, and two pedals 17 each mounted on a respective one of the links 16. In operation, when a user operates the exercising machine, his hands can hold the swinging handles 15 to move the swinging handles 15 and his feet tread the pedals 17 to move the links 16. In such a manner, the links 16 are driven by rotation of the freewheel 12 and by pivotal motion of the swinging handles 15 so as to perform an oblong orbit movement so that the user can exercise his hands and legs. However, each of the links 16 is located between the respective swinging handle 15 and the respective pivot member 13 so that each of the links 16 has a fixed movement trace that cannot be adjusted according to the user's requirement, thereby limiting the exercising effect of the exercising machine.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 2-4, an exercising machine in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a main frame 10, an upright post 40 mounted on a front portion of the main frame 10, two swinging handles 50 each having an upper end pivotally connected with the upright post 40, a cycle movement mechanism 20 mounted on a rear portion of the main frame 10, two pivot members 30 mounted on two opposite sides of the cycle movement mechanism 20, two links 60 each having a first end pivotally connected with a lower end of a respective one of the swinging handles 50 and a second end pivotally connected with a respective one of the pivot members 30, two pedals 70 each mounted on a respective one of the links 60, and two adjusting members 80 each pivotally mounted between a respective one of the links 60 and a respective one of the pivot members 30.

The pivot members 30 misalign with each other and are located at different positions of the cycle movement mechanism 20. Each of the pivot members 30 is mounted on the cycle movement mechanism 20 in an eccentric manner. The swinging handles 50 are located at two opposite sides of the upright post 40.

Each of the adjusting members 80 has a substantially inverted U-shaped profile and has an interior provided with a receiving space 81. Each of the adjusting members 80 has a first portion pivotally connected with the respective pivot member 30 and a second portion pivotally connected with the second end of the respective link 60. The first portion of each of the adjusting members 80 is provided with a mounting sleeve 31 pivotally mounted on the respective pivot member 30. The second portion of each of the adjusting members 80 is provided with a plurality of adjusting holes 90.

Each of the links 60 is pivotally connected between a respective one of the swinging handles 50 and a respective one of the adjusting members 80. The second end of each of the links 60 is provided with a pivot portion 61 pivotally connected with one of the adjusting holes 90 of the respective adjusting member 80. The pivot portion 61 of each of the links 60 is received in the receiving space 81 of the respective adjusting member 80.

In operation, referring to FIG. 5 with reference to FIGS. 2-4, when a user operates the exercising machine, his hands can hold the swinging handles 50 to move the swinging handles 50 and his feet tread the pedals 70 to move the links 60. In such a manner, the links 60 are driven by rotation of the cycle movement mechanism 20 and by pivotal motion of the swinging handles 50 so as to perform an oblong orbit movement so that the user can exercise his hands and legs. Thus, the links 60 and the adjusting members 80 are driven by the swinging handles 50 to move forward and backward so that the links 60 and the adjusting members 80 are disposed at a linear state.

Referring to FIGS. 5-7 with reference to FIGS. 2-4, the pivot portion 61 of each of the links 60 is pivotally connected with one of the adjusting holes 90 of the respective adjusting member 80 so that each of the links 60 is located at different positions to change the positions and angles of each of the swinging handles 50 so as to provide different exercising effects.

Accordingly, each of the links 60 is pivotally connected with a selective one of the adjusting holes 90 of the respective adjusting member 80 to change the position and angle of each of the links 60 and each of the swinging handles 50 so as to adjust the movement trace of each of the links 60 and to provide different exercising modes, thereby enhancing the exercising effect of the exercising machine.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
