Claims
- 1. A process for controlling odor which is being emitted by a material which incorporates an odorous substance which comprises the steps of:
applying a solution containing an effective amount of Cl+ donor which is a member selected from the group consisting of Chloramine T, CH-BENZ, Chloramines B and mixtures thereof, to the material wherein the solution has pH from about 6 to about 14 and further incorporates an effective amount of low molecular weight alcohol.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the solution further incorporates an effective amount of a wetting agent which essentially does not react with Cl+ donor.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the concentration of the Cl+ donor is from about 0.1 to about 10 weight percent.
- 4. The process of claim 2 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.1 to about 10 weight percent.
- 5. The process of claim 2 wherein the wetting agent is a anionic or nonionic wetting agent.
- 6. The process of claim 1 wherein the solution is buffered to a pH of from about 8 to about 9.5.
- 7. The process of claim 2 wherein the solution is buffered to a pH of from about 8 to about 9.5.
- 8. The process of claim 3 wherein the solution is buffered with sodium bicarbonate to a pH of from about 8 to about 9.5.
- 9. The process of claim 4 wherein the solution is buffered with sodium bicarbonate.
- 10. The process of claim 5 wherein the solution is buffered with sodium bicarbonate.
- 11. The process of claim 6 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 12. The process of claim 7 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 13. The process of claim 8 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 14. The process of claim 9 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 15. The process of claim 10 wherein the concentration of Cl+ donor is from about 0.5 to about 1.0%.
- 16. The process of claim 1 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
- 17. The process of claim 2 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
- 18. The process of claim 3 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
- 19. The process of claim 4 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
- 20. The process of claim 5 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
- 21. The process of claim 6 wherein the low molecular weight alcohol t-butanol.
