BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Growing up in rural western Pennsylvania us kids didn't have a lot of options when it came to things to play with. We had to use our imaginations and come up with ways to entertain ourselves. One of the games we came up with and all loved was sharpening apple sticks (branches), sticking a crabapple to the end of it and launching them at tree stumps or targets. Hence the name “Old Country Apple Launcher.” We would set up a target and see who could accumulate the most points. As an adult, I never forgot the good times me, my cousins and neighborhood friends all had together using our imagination and just being kids! I now would love to bring that country fun to the masses with the “Old Country Apple Launcher.”

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The “Old Country Apple Launcher” is a toy made for kids or adults.

The “Old Country Apple Launcher” is designed to bring a game to urban area kids and more, that was played in the rural outskirts of western Pennsylvania. We know a lot of adults every now and then enjoy reliving parts of their childhood. This game is a great way to bring parents and their children together in good old fashion fun.

While growing up in the country part of Western PA we would cut off the apple branches of an apple tree, sharpen it and use that for a launcher. The shaft design of the “Old Country Apple Launcher” is the launcher. The notched neck tip of the shaft would be used in place of the sharpened tip of a branch.

The 6 velcro “balls” represent the apple. The hole in the apple with 2 plastic bearings replicate the apple stuck in the tip of a sharpened branch until enough force is applied to release the velcro apple from the top of the shaft. The apples will come in 3 different colors. Green, Red and Yellow. This allows the players to pick their own color and keep score based on where their apples land on the target.

Instead of launching the apple balls at an actual tree stump like we did back in the day, the apple velcro balls would be launched at the replica tree stump velcro target.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING

FIG. 1 depicts the “Old Country Apple Launcher” in a basic drawing with measurements included.

The shaft design is the launching mechanism. The top of the shaft will be tapered in and have a locking mechanism to fit the connectable apples. The thicker bottom of the shaft is designed so you can get a good grip on it. The hand guards are in place also towards the bottom to prevent it from slipping out of your hand and also serve a purpose in appearance.

The 2 green, 2 red and 2 yellow apples will have velcro to allow them to stick to the point system target. They're roughly 2″ around with a small hole at one end that has 2 plastic bearings built in which allows them to be connected to the top of the shaft until the force of trajection releases the apples at the point system target.

FIG. 2 depicts the “Old Country Apple Launcher” target. It will also be velcro to allow the apples that get launched at it to stick to it. The target will be rustic looking and resemble a tree stump.
