Claims
- 1. A process of producing a lower .alpha.-olefin polymer which comprises contacting under polymerization conditions one or more lower .alpha.-olefins with an olefin polymerization catalyst obtained by contacting (A) a catalyst component obtained by contacting a magnesium dialkoxide wherein each alkoxide independently has up to 4 carbon atoms conclusive, titanium tetraalkoxide wherein each alkoxide independently has up to 4 carbon atoms inclusive, and a phenolic compound selected from phenol and activating group-substituted phenol, at elevated temperature, with a tetravalent titanium halide and an electron donor, with (B) an organoaluminum cocatalyst and (c) a selectivity control agent.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the .alpha.-olefin is propylene or mixtures thereof with ethylene.
- 3. The process of claim 2 wherein the .alpha.-olefin is propylene.
- 4. The process of claim 1 wherein the polymerization is conducted in slurry-phase in liquid diluent.
- 5. The process of claim 4 wherein the polymerization is conducted as gas-phase.
