Claims
- 1. An on-off valve and pressure regulator for high-pressure fluid comprising:
- a valve body defining a cavity with an upstream cavity end and a downstream cavity end, said valve body further defining a fluid inlet in communication with said cavity, a valve seat defining a discharge port, said discharge port in communication with said valve cavity at said downstream cavity end, a stem seal defining a stem seal through hole, a seal cage defining a seal cage through hole, said seal cage sealably mounted within said upstream cavity end of said valve body, said stem seal sealably secured within said seal cage, a seal support having a seal support through hole, said seal support secured within said valve body and retaining said stem seal and said seal cage within said valve body, said seal cage through hole, said seal support through hole and said stem seal through hole in communication with said valve cavity, a stem collar having a stem collar cavity, a valve poppet mounted with respect to said stem collar for engaging said valve poppet into and out of a seated position with respect to said valve seat, a valve stem having a stem shoulder at a downstream stem end of said valve stem, engagement means for engaging said stem shoulder with said stem collar to move said valve poppet in a linear direction, bias means for constantly forcing said valve poppet toward said valve seat, said valve stem mounted within said seal cage through hole, said seal support through hole and said stem seal through hole; and
- an actuator secured to said valve body, a valve stem anchor slidably mounted within said actuator, an upstream stem end of said valve stem secured to said valve stem anchor, said actuator comprising an actuator body defining a chamber and an actuator body through hole, a piston rod slidably and sealably mounted within said actuator body through hole, an upstream rod portion of said piston rod secured to a piston and a downstream end of said piston rod secured to said valve stem anchor, said piston sealably and slidably mounted within said chamber, and movement means for moving said piston and said valve stem.
- 2. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising a fluid outlet secured to said valve body and said fluid outlet having an end fluid outlet passage in communication with said discharge port.
- 3. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said engagement means comprises said stem shoulder fitting within said stem collar cavity and said stem shoulder engageable with an upstream stem collar shoulder of said stem collar.
- 4. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising an actuator adapter positioned between said valve body and said actuator, and a plurality of anchor bolts extending through said actuator adapter for securing said actuator adapter to said valve body.
- 5. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 4 further comprising a plurality of tie bolts extending through said actuator body and securing said actuator body with respect to said actuator adapter.
- 6. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising a set screw engageable within a set screw through hole of said valve stem anchor and engageable with a flat section of said valve stem.
- 7. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising a rod seal mounted within said actuator body about said piston rod.
- 8. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said movement means further comprises said actuator body having a first port in communication with a first portion of said chamber adjacent an upstream side of said piston and a second port in communication with a second portion of said chamber adjacent a downstream side of said piston.
- 9. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising cushion means within a first portion of said chamber adjacent an upstream end of said piston for absorbing shock forces when said valve stem is forced into an open position.
- 10. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 9 wherein said cushion means further comprises a bumper mounted on an inside wall of said actuator body which defines said chamber, and a cushion spring mounted between said bumper and an upper piston rod portion of said piston.
- 11. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein an upstream stem end of said valve stem is mounted within a stem anchor bore of said valve stem anchor.
- 12. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said valve poppet comprises a ball poppet sealably engageable within said discharge port of said valve seat.
- 13. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said valve poppet comprises a disk poppet sealably engageable against an upstream flat surface of said valve seat.
- 14. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said valve poppet comprises a conical poppet sealably engageable within a mated conical face of said discharge port of said valve seat.
- 15. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said bias means comprises a stem spring mounted within said valve cavity between said stem seal and said stem collar, and a downstream stem spring end of said stem spring adjacent an upstream collar end of said stem collar.
- 16. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 wherein said seal support has a seal support cavity, and said valve stem anchor slides linearly within said seal support cavity.
- 17. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 1 further comprising a poppet extension having an upstream extension end secured to said stem collar and a downstream extension end secured to said valve poppet, a nozzle adapter secured to said valve body, said nozzle having a nozzle passage in communication with said valve cavity, and said poppet extension positioned within said nozzle passage.
- 18. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 17 wherein an annular passage is formed between an external surface of said poppet extension and an internal surface of said nozzle adapter.
- 19. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 17 further comprising a nozzle cap sealably secured to a downstream adapter end of said nozzle adapter, and said nozzle cap having a nozzle cap through hole in communication with said discharge port.
- 20. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 19 further comprising an orifice cone mounted between said nozzle cap and said downstream adapter end of said nozzle adapter, and said orifice cone having an orifice cone through hole in communication with said discharge port.
- 21. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 20 further comprising an orifice disk mounted within said orifice cone, and said orifice disk having an orifice disk through hole in communication with said discharge port.
- 22. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 20 wherein said downstream adapter end of said nozzle adapter is coned and said orifice cone has a concave section sealably engageable with said coned downstream adapter end.
- 23. An on-off valve and pressure regulator according to claim 17 further comprising a spacer secured to said poppet extension, and said spacer having at least one leg abutting an internal surface of said nozzle adapter.
