Claims
- 1. A substantially round pulverizing mill roller for mounting on a bearing assembly wherein the bearing assembly has an inner bearing surface in contact with a roller shaft and an outer bearing surface in fixed contact with the roller, the outer bearing surface being rotatable about the axis of the shaft with respect to the inner bearing surface, the roller comprising: a radially inner hub portion having an axially central hole for receiving the bearing assembly and roller shaft; a body portion radially outward from and integral with the hub portion; and an outer tread portion radially outward from and integral with the integral body portion and hub portion, the surface of the outer tread portion being curved in the axial direction with a middle diameter greater than the diameter at either axial end.
- 2. The roller of claim 1, wherein the roller is a single piece of steel.
- 3. The roller of claim 2, wherein the roller is cast.
- 4. A pulverizing mill roller assembly for mounting on a roller shaft, comprising: a bearing assembly having an inner bearing surface with a hole therethrough to receive the shaft and an outer bearing surface rotatable about the axis of the shaft with respect to the inner bearing surface; a radially inner roller hub portion having an axially central hole, the bearing assembly being mounted in the hole of the hub portion so that the bearing assembly outer bearing surface is in fixed contact with the wall of the hub portion hole; a roller body portion radially outward from and integral with the hub portion; and an outer tread portion radially outward from and integral with the integral hub and body portion.
- 5. A pulverizing mill roller assembly for mounting inside a pulverizing mill so that the roller assembly rests on a pulverizing surface of the pulverizing mill, comprising: biasing means for biasing the roller assembly toward the pulverizing surface; a roller shaft with mounting means for mounting the roller shaft to the biasing means; a bearing assembly having an inner bearing surface with a hole therethrough to receive the shaft and an outer bearing surface rotatable about the axis of the shaft with respect to the inner bearing surface; a radially inner roller hub portion having an axially central hole, the bearing assembly being mounted in the hole of the hub portion so that the bearing assembly outer bearing surface is in fixed contact with the wall of the hub portion hole; a roller body portion radially outward from and integral with the hub portion; and a roller outer tread portion radially outward from and integral with the integral hub and body portion, the tread portion being restable on the pulverizing mill pulverizing surface.
- 6. The roller assembly of claim 5, wherein said biasing means exerts a biasing force sufficient for the roller assembly to pulverize the material to be pulverized.
