Claims
- 1. A catalyst composition comprising a .beta.-zeolite modified with one or more metals selected from Group IA and Group IIIB of the Periodic Table wherein the concentration of metal deposited on said .beta.-zeolite may vary from 0.01% to 10.0% for each metal.
- 2. The catalyst composition of claim 1 wherein the .beta.-zeolite has a silica-to-alumina molar ratio of at least 10:1.
- 3. The catalyst composition of claim 2 wherein the .beta.-zeolite has a silica-to-alumina mole ratio of 20 to 30.
- 4. The catalyst composition of claim 3 wherein the .beta.-zeolite is characterized by the following X-ray diffraction pattern:

- 5. The catalyst composition of claim 1, further characterized in that the .beta.-zeolite is bound to an oxide binder selected from Group III or IV of the Periodic Table.
- 6. The catalyst composition of claim 5 wherein the oxide binder comprises 5% to 95% of the formed catalyst.
- 7. The catalyst composition of claim 5 wherein the Group III oxide is alumina.
- 8. The catalyst composition of claim 1, wherein the Group IA metal is selected from the group consisting of lithium, sodium, potassium, rubidium and cesium.
- 9. The catalyst composition of claim 1, wherein the Group IA metal is lithium.
- 10. The catalyst composition of claim 1, wherein the Group IIIB metal is selected from the group consisting of scandium, yttrium, lanthanum, and the lanthanide elements, as well as mixtures thereof.
- 11. The catalyst composition of claim 10 wherein the Group IIIB metal is a mixture of lanthanum plus lanthamide elements, known as rare earth metals.
- 12. The catalyst composition of claim 1 wherein the .beta.-zeolite is modified with lithium and rare earth metals.
