Claims
- 1. A method for authorizing an online purchase between a customer and a vendor site, the method comprising steps of:
receiving transaction information from the vendor site; automatically opening a new web browser window for the customer; receiving authenticating information from the customer; authenticating the customer's identity; presenting a transaction amount in the new web browser window, whereby the customer can authorize the transaction amount through interaction with the new web browser window; receiving authorization from the customer of a transfer for at least the transaction amount, wherein the transfer corresponds to the online purchase; and notifying the vendor site of authorization and authentication.
- 2. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, wherein the new web browser window points away from the vendor site.
- 3. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, wherein the notifying step comprises steps of:
notifying the vendor site of authentication of the customer's identity; and notifying the vendor site of authorization by the customer for the transfer of the transaction amount.
- 4. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, further comprising steps of:
generating an authentication code indicative of authentication of the customer's identity; and generating an authorization code indicative of the authorization by the customer of the transfer of the transaction amount, wherein the notifying step comprises steps of:
sending the authentication code to the vendor site, and sending the authorization code to the vendor site.
- 5. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, further comprising a step of receiving account information from the customer corresponding to an account authorized for the transfer.
- 6. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, wherein the new web browser window overlays an existing web browser window that is associated with the vendor site.
- 7. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, further comprising steps of:
requesting payment from a card associated with the customer after authorization is received; and transferring payment to an account associated with the vendor site.
- 8. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 1, further comprising a step of sending a message to the customer with notification relating to the receiving authorization step.
- 9. A computer-readable medium having computer-executable instructions for performing the computer-implementable method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site of claim 1.
- 10. A computer system adapted to perform the computer-implementable method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site of claim 1.
- 11. A method for authorizing an online purchase between a customer and a vendor site, the method comprising steps of:
receiving transaction information from the vendor site; automatically opening a new web browser window for the customer, wherein the new web browser window points away from the vendor site; receiving authenticating information from the customer; authenticating the customer's identity; notifying the vendor site of authentication of the customers's identity; presenting a transaction amount in the new web browser window; receiving authorization in the new browser window from the customer of a transfer for the transaction amount, wherein the transfer corresponds to the online purchase; and notifying the vendor site of authorization by the customer for the transfer of the transaction amount.
- 12. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 11, further comprising a step of receiving selection of a source for the transaction amount from at least one of: a bank account, a credit card, a debit card, a promotion handler, a retail handler, and a gift certificate handler.
- 13. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 11, wherein the new web browser window overlays an existing web browser window for a web site associated with the vendor site.
- 14. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 11, further comprising a step of transferring payment to an account associated with the vendor site after authorization is received.
- 15. A method for authorizing an online purchase between a customer and a vendor site, the method comprising steps of:
receiving transaction information from the vendor site; automatically opening a new web browser window for the customer; receiving authenticating information from the customer; authenticating the customer's identity; presenting a transaction amount in the new web browser window; receiving authorization from the customer of a transfer for the transaction amount in the new browser window, wherein the transfer corresponds to the online purchase from the vendor site; notifying the vendor site of authorization and authentication; and transferring at least the transaction amount from a debit or credit card associated with the customer.
- 16. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 15, wherein the authenticating information is received through the new web browser window.
- 17. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 15, further comprising a step of confirming the authorization with a confirmation page in the new web browser window.
- 18. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 15, further comprising a step of transferring a payment related to the transaction amount to an account associated with the vendor site after authorization is received.
- 19. The method for authorizing the online purchase between the customer and the vendor site as recited in claim 15, further comprising a step of deducting a fee from the transaction amount to determine a payment due the vendor site for the transfer.
