Claims
- 1. A method for parking an actuator with an impact rebound crash stop in a disk drive, comprising the step of:
a magnetically attractive component and two small magnets attracting each other, providing a torque upon said actuator arm, including a actuator fantail, helping said actuator to move into said impact rebound crash stop, when said actuator fantail, containing said magnetically attractive component, moves near said small magnet affixed to a yoke assembly.
- 2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of:
an impact rebound crash stop pivoting to bring a pusher face into a rotational path of a pusher stop leading to a pusher engaging a pusher stop, when said actuator arm is near said impact rebound crash stop; and wherein said actuator fantail includes said pusher stop.
- 3. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of:
said impact rebound crash stop pivoting to engaging said impact rebound crash stop and said crash stop site, when said pusher face engages said pusher stop; and wherein said actuator fantail includes said pusher stop and said crash stop site.
- 4. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of:
said voice coil magnet magnetically acting against an actuator magnet assembly repelling said crash stop site from said crash stop, when said impact rebound crash stop engages said crash stop site and a first voltage is applied to a voice coil magnet coupled to said actuator arm; wherein said actuator fantail includes said crash stop site.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said actuator includes an actuator magnet assembly coupled to said yoke assembly comprising a top yoke and a bottom yoke.
- 6. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of:
a latch bias tab, in said impact rebound crash stop, magnetically attracting said voice coil magnet, to pivot said impact rebound crash stop engaging a crash stop site on said actuator fantail.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein said impact rebound crash stop is comprised of: a rigid plastic body containing a pivot between said top yoke and said bottom yoke coupling said impact rebound crash stop to said actuator magnet assembly.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein said latch bias tab rigidly affixed to a rigid plastic body; wherein said rigid plastic body is comprised of a pusher face and a crash stop face.
- 9. The method of claim 8,
wherein said proximity latch further includes said two small magnets, each small magnet affixed to said yoke assembly so that said small magnets essentially share the same north Pole.
- 10. A method for parking an actuator with an impact rebound crash stop in a disk drive, comprising the step of:
a latch bias tab, in said impact rebound crash stop, magnetically attracting a voice coil magnet included in said actuator, to pivot said impact rebound crash stop engaging a crash stop site on an actuator fantail in said actuator.
- 11. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of:
a magnetically attractive component and two small magnets attracting each other, providing a torque upon said actuator arm, including a actuator fantail, helping said actuator to move into said impact rebound crash stop, when said actuator fantail, containing said magnetically attractive component, moves near said small magnet affixed to a yoke assembly.
- 12. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of:
an impact rebound crash stop pivoting to bring a pusher face into a rotational path of a pusher stop leading to a pusher engaging a pusher stop, when said actuator arm is near said impact rebound crash stop; and wherein said actuator fantail includes said pusher stop.
- 13. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of:
said impact rebound crash stop pivoting to engaging said impact rebound crash stop and said crash stop site, when said pusher face engages said pusher stop; and wherein said actuator fantail includes said pusher stop and said crash stop site.
- 14. The method of claim 10, further comprising the step of:
said voice coil magnet magnetically acting against an actuator magnet assembly repelling said crash stop site from said crash stop, when said impact rebound crash stop engages said crash stop site and a first voltage is applied to a voice coil magnet coupled to said actuator arm; wherein said actuator fantail includes said crash stop site.
- 15. The method of claim 10, wherein said actuator includes an actuator magnet assembly coupled to said yoke assembly comprising a top yoke and a bottom yoke.
- 16. The method of claim 10, wherein said impact rebound crash stop is comprised of: a rigid plastic body containing a pivot between said top yoke and said bottom yoke coupling said impact rebound crash stop to said actuator magnet assembly.
- 17. The method of claim 10, wherein said latch bias tab is rigidly affixed to a rigid plastic body;
wherein said rigid plastic body is comprised of a pusher face and a crash stop face.
- 18. The method of claim 17, wherein said proximity latch further includes said two small magnets, each small magnet affixed to said yoke assembly so that said small magnets essentially share the same north Pole.
