Claims
- 1. An workstation comprising:
a worksurface; left and right support members extending at least upward from said worksurface; a plurality of flat-panel display units mounted between said support members and being upwardly vertically displaced from said worksurface; and wherein said displays are vertically oriented with respect to each other.
- 2. The workstation of claim 1, wherein said support members comprise upper support members and wherein said workstation further comprises left and right lower support members which support said worksurface and said upper support members.
- 3. The workstation of claim 2, further including a base connected to said lower support members.
- 4. The workstation of claim 3, wherein said base is between said lower support members.
- 5. The workstation of claim 3, wherein said base has a substantially triangular cross-section.
- 6. The workstation of claim 2, wherein each of said lower support members has a substantially triangular shape.
- 7. The workstation of claim 1, wherein said display units are pivotally mounted between said support members.
- 8. The workstation of claim 1, wherein each flat-panel display unit comprises a flat panel display mounted within a display housing.
- 9. The workstation of claim 1, further comprising an operator interface panel mounted between said support members, above said worksurface and below said plurality of displays.
- 10. The workstation of claim 9, wherein said operator interface panel includes at least one human interface device.
- 11. The workstation of claim 10, wherein said human interface device comprises at least one of an annunciator panel, a joystick, a trackball, a button and a display.
- 12. The workstation of claim 11, wherein said operator interface panel includes a plurality of displays.
- 13. The workstation of claim 11, wherein said display comprises a flat-panel display.
- 14. The workstation of claim 13, wherein said display comprises a touch-screen flat-panel display.
- 15. The workstation of claim 13, wherein said display is smaller than said flat-panel display units.
- 16. The workstation of claim 9, wherein said operator interface panel forms an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees with said worksurface.
- 17. The workstation of claim 16, wherein said operator interface panel includes a substantially vertical frontal portion.
- 18. The workstation of claim 1, wherein said support members have an arcuate shape curving upward from said worksurface.
- 19. The workstation of claim 18, wherein said support members comprise a plurality of linear segments at obtuse angles to each other forming said arcuate shape.
- 20. The workstation of claim 19, wherein some of said linear segments respectively correspond to said plurality of flat-panel displays.
- 21. The workstation of claim 20, wherein at least one of said flat-panel displays is pivotally mounted at a central point within the linear segments of said support members corresponding to it.
- 22. The workstation of claim 1, wherein a portion of said support members extend below said worksurface.
- 23. A computer workstation comprising:
a worksurface; left and right support members extending at least upward from said worksurface, wherein a lower portion of said support members intersect said worksurface and ex tend therebelow; a plurality of flat-panel display units mounted above said worksurface and between said support members; and wherein said displays are vertically oriented with respect to each other.
- 24. The workstation of claim 23, wherein said support members include a recess into which said worksurface fits at a point at which said support members intersect said worksurface.
- 25. A computer workstation comprising:
a worksurface; left and right lower support members supporting said worksurface, said lower support members having a substantially triangular shape with a vertex at a lower portion thereof; left and right upper support members extending at least upward from said worksurface; a plurality of flat-panel display units mounted above said worksurface and between said support members; and wherein said displays are vertically oriented with respect to each other.
- 26. An workstation comprising:
a worksurface; left and right support members extending at least upward from said worksurface; a flat-panel display unit mounted between said support members and being upwardly vertically displaced from said worksurface; and wherein said displays are vertically oriented with respect to each other.
- 27. The workstation of claim 26, wherein said support members comprise upper support members and wherein said workstation further comprises left and right lower support members which support said worksurface and said upper support members.
- 28. The workstation of claim 27, further including a base connected to said lower support members.
- 29. The workstation of claim 28, wherein said base is between said lower support members.
- 30. The workstation of claim 28, wherein said base has a substantially triangular cross-section.
- 31. The workstation of claim 27, wherein each of said lower support members has a substantially triangular shape.
- 32. The workstation of claim 26, wherein said display unit is pivotally mounted between said support members.
- 33. The workstation of claim 26, wherein said flat-panel display unit comprises a flat panel display mounted within a display housing.
- 34. The workstation of claim 26, further comprising an operator interface panel mounted between said support members, above said worksurface and below said display.
- 35. The workstation of claim 34, wherein said operator interface panel includes at least one human interface device.
- 36. The workstation of claim 34, wherein said human interface device comprises at least one of an annunciator panel, a joystick, a trackball, a button and a display.
- 37. The workstation of claim 36, wherein said operator interface panel includes a plurality of displays.
- 38. The workstation of claim 36, wherein said display comprises a flat-panel display.
- 39. The workstation of claim 38, wherein said display comprises a touch-screen flat-panel display.
- 40. The workstation of claim 39, wherein said display is smaller than said flat-panel display unit.
- 41. The workstation of claim 34, wherein said operator interface panel forms an angle of between 90 and 180 degrees with said worksurface.
- 42. The workstation of claim 41, wherein said operator interface panel includes a vertically oriented frontal portion.
- 43. The workstation of claim 26, wherein said support members have an arcuate shape curving upward from said worksurface.
- 44. The workstation of claim 43, wherein said support members comprise a plurality of linear segments at obtuse angles to each other forming said arcuate shape.
- 45. The workstation of claim 44, wherein one of said linear segments corresponds to said flat-panel display unit.
- 46. The workstation of claim 45, wherein said flat-panel display unit is pivotally mounted at a central point within the linear segment of said support members corresponding to it.
- 47. The workstation of claim 26, wherein a portion of said support members extend below said worksurface.
- 48. An operator workstation comprising:
a base; a worksurface; left and right support members coupled to said base and supporting said worksurface, wherein said support members have a substantially triangular shape with a vertex thereof disposed at said base; and an operator interface panel extending upward from said worksurface and forming an obtuse angle therewith.
- 49. The workstation of claim 48, wherein said support members lean in a forward direction toward an operator position with respect to said workstation.
- 50. The workstation of claim 48, wherein said base has a substantially triangular cross-section.
- 51. The workstation of claim 50, wherein said support members lean in a forward direction toward an operator position with respect to said workstation.
- 52. The workstation of claim 48, wherein said support members comprise lower support members and wherein said workstation further includes upper support members proximate to front left and right edges of said operator interface panel.
- 53. The workstation of claim 52, wherein said upper support members intersect said worksurface and extend therebelow.
- 54. The workstation of claim 53, wherein said operator interface panel includes at least one human interface device.
- 55. The workstation of claim 54, wherein said human interface device comprises at least one of an annunciator panel, a joystick, a trackball, a button and a display.
- 56. The workstation of claim 55, wherein said operator interface panel includes a plurality of displays.
- 57. The workstation of claim 55, wherein said display comprises a flat-panel display.
- 58. The workstation of claim 55, wherein said display comprises a touch-screen display.
- 59. The workstation of claim 55, wherein said display comprises a touch-screen flat-panel display.
- 60. The workstation of claim 48, further in combination with a second workstation coupled thereto, said second workstation comprising:
a second worksurface; left and right second support members extending at least upward from said second worksurface; at least one flat-panel display unit mounted between said second support members and being upwardly vertically displaced from said second worksurface; and wherein said displays are vertically oriented with respect to each other.
- 61. The workstation of claim 60, further comprising a second operator interface panel mounted between said second support members, above said second worksurface and below said at least one display.
- 62. The workstation of claim 61, further comprising a joining unit coupling said workstation to said second workstation, wherein said joining unit includes a joining panel coupled between said operator interface panel and said second operator interface panel.
