Claims
- 1. An optical apparatus comprising:a 2D-spatial light modulator for producing a modulated light beam for each of a plurality of processing elements, the modulated light beams having a plurality of light wavelengths; an input-ring array for receiving the plurality of data modulated light beams; an output-ring array for outputting a light beam to each processing element; and an optical interconnect for transferring light from the input-ring array to the output-ring array and uniquely rotating each wavelength of the transferred light.
- 2. The optical apparatus of claim 1 comprising a free space to fiber optic system coupled to a plurality of optical fibers for receiving the modulated light beams produced by the 2D-spatial light modulator and outputting the modulated light beams to the input-ring array.
- 3. The optical apparatus of claim 1 wherein the uniquely rotating each wavelength is performed by a plurality of prisms and beam splitters.
- 4. The optical apparatus of claim 1 wherein the optical interconnect comprises a first optical element reflector for reflecting one of the plurality of light wavelengths, a prism for rotating the one wavelength, and a second optical element reflector for directing the rotated one wavelength to the output-ring array.
- 5. A method for transferring data between a plurality of processors, the method comprising:providing a 2D-spatial light modulator; producing using the 2D-spatial modulator a modulated light beam for each of a plurality of processing elements, the modulated light beams having a plurality of light wavelengths; receiving at an input-ring array the plurality of data modulated light beams; outputting to an output-ring array a light beam to each processing element; and transferring light from the input-ring array to the output-ring array and uniquely rotating each wavelength of the transferred light.
- 6. The method of claim 5 wherein the transferring light is performed by an optical interconnect having a plurality of prisms and beamsplitters.
- 7. The method of claim 5 further comprising providing a first optical element reflector for reflecting one of the plurality of light wavelengths, a prism for rotating the one wavelength, and a second optical element reflector for directing the rotated one wavelength to the output-ring array.
