Claims
- 1. An optical disc comprising:a rewritable area having a single spiral data rewritable track of pitch Pa consisting of lands and grooves that alternate at a particular radial transition line; and a read-only area formed of a plurality of revolutions of said disc that are each divided into a plurality of sectors, said read-only area storing information that is prerecorded in the form of a series of marks in a spiral track of pitch Pb; wherein a transition between the rewritable area and the read-only area occurs approximately at said particular radial transition line.
- 2. An optical disc according to claim 1, wherein said rewritable area comprising recording sectors, each of which comprises a first header area preformatted with marks expressing address information, and a data recording area;each said first header area comprising 2K physical address areas PIDi , each physical address area PIDi comprising at least an address area Pidi for storing sector address information, wherein physical address areas PID1 to PIDk are provided approximately Pa/2 from a groove recording track in a first radial direction and physical address areas PIDk+1 to PID2k are provided approximately Pa/2 from the groove recording track in a second radial direction; and wherein the data rewritable track of the rewritable area closest to the read-only area is a groove, and there is a land region between the closest data rewritable track of the rewritable area and the read-only area.
- 3. An optical disc according to claim 2, wherein the land region comprises a land track.
- 4. An optical disc according to claim 1, wherein the rewritable area and the read-only area are provided in an inner region of the disc, the read-only area being a control data zone to which control data is prerecorded.
- 5. An optical disc according to claim 3, wherein said land track closest to the read-only area is prohibited from being recorded with any data.
- 6. An optical disc according to claim 1 wherein Pa=Pb=0.74 μm.
- 7. An optical disc according to claim 1 further comprising a second read-only area, the rewritable area being arranged between said first and second read-only areas, wherein the data rewritable track of the rewritable area closest to each read-only area is a groove.
- 8. An optical disc comprising a rewritable area having a single spiral recording track of pitch Pa consisting of lands and grooves that alternate at a particular radial transition line; anda read-only area to which information is prerecorded in the form of a series of marks in a spiral track of pitch Pb; said rewritable area comprising recording sectors, each of which comprises a first header area preformatted with marks expressing address information, and a data recording area; each said first header area comprising 2K physical address areas PIDi each physical address area PIDi comprising at least an address area Pidi for storing sector address information, wherein physical address areas PID1 and PIDk are provided approximately Pa/2 from a groove recording track in a first radial direction and physical address areas PIDk+1 to PID2k are provided approximately Pa/2 from the groove recording track in a second radial direction; and a land of width approximately equal to one or more tracks being provided between the closest data rewritable track of the rewritable area and the read-only area, respectively.
- 9. An optical disc according to claim 1, wherein Pb is approximately equal to Pa.
- 10. An optical disc according to claim 8, wherein Pb is approximately equal to Pa.
