The invention relates generally to an optical lens, and more particularly to an optical lens having a diffractive optical element and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability
Nowadays, as smart home surveillance cameras become more immersed in user's everyday lives, there is a growing need for these devices to become thinner and have high optical performance. To meet these requirements, an optical lens needs to have low fabrication costs, large aperture, wide viewing angles, lighter weight and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability. In order to enhance the 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability, a conventional method is to use a low-dispersion lens material (such as Fluorite). However, Fluorite is heavy (about 1.5 times heavier than glass) and expansive (Fluorite costs about 18 times as much as glass), and thus such material fails to meet the requirements of low costs and lighter weight. Therefore, it is desirable to provide an optical lens that may achieve lighter weight, lower fabrication costs, good imaging quality and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability.
According to one aspect of the present disclosure, an optical lens includes a first lens group with negative refractive power, a second lens group with positive refractive power, and an aperture stop disposed between the first lens group and the second lens group. A total number of lenses in the first lens group is less than three, and a total number of lenses in the second lens group is less than five. The second lens group includes a first lens, a second lens and a third lens arranged in order in a direction away from the aperture stop. Each of the first lens and the second lens is an aspheric lens, and one of the first lens and the second lens has a diffractive optical surface.
According to another aspect of the present disclosure, an optical lens includes a first lens group, a second lens group, and an aperture stop disposed between the first lens group and the second lens group. The first lens group includes a lens having negative refractive power, and the second lens group includes a lens having positive refractive power. The second lens group includes a first lens, a second lens and a third lens arranged in order in a direction away from the aperture stop. The first lens is an aspheric lens, and one of the first lens and the second lens has a diffractive optical surface. A 587 nm green light passes the optical lens to form a first focal plane, the first focal plane crosses an optical axis of the optical lens to form a first intersection, a 850 nm infrared light passes the optical lens to form a second focal plane, the second focal plane crosses the optical axis of the optical lens to form a second intersection, and a displacement between the first intersection and the second intersection is less than 10 um.
The optical lens according to the above embodiment may achieve at least one advantage of lighter weight, lower fabrication costs, good imaging quality and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability.
Other objectives, features and advantages of the invention will be further understood from the further technological features disclosed by the embodiments of the invention wherein there are shown and described preferred embodiments of this invention, simply by way of illustration of modes best suited to carry out the invention.
In the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof, and in which are shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. In this regard, directional terminology, such as “top,” “bottom,” “front,” “back,” etc., is used with reference to the orientation of the Figure(s) being described. The components of the invention can be positioned in a number of different orientations. As such, the directional terminology is used for purposes of illustration and is in no way limiting. On the other hand, the drawings are only schematic and the sizes of components may be exaggerated for clarity. It is to be understood that other embodiments may be utilized and structural changes may be made without departing from the scope of the invention. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting. The use of “including,” “comprising,” or “having” and variations thereof herein is meant to encompass the items listed thereafter and equivalents thereof as well as additional items. Unless limited otherwise, the terms “connected,” “coupled,” and “mounted” and variations thereof herein are used broadly and encompass direct and indirect connections, couplings, and mountings. Similarly, the terms “facing,” “faces” and variations thereof herein are used broadly and encompass direct and indirect facing, and “adjacent to” and variations thereof herein are used broadly and encompass directly and indirectly “adjacent to”. Therefore, the description of “A” component facing “B” component herein may contain the situations that “A” component directly faces “B” component or one or more additional components are between “A” component and “B” component. Also, the description of “A” component “adjacent to” “B” component herein may contain the situations that “A” component is directly “adjacent to” “B” component or one or more additional components are between “A” component and “B” component. Accordingly, the drawings and descriptions will be regarded as illustrative in nature and not as restrictive.
, where Z denotes a sag of an aspheric surface along the optical axis 12, c denotes a reciprocal of a radius of an osculating sphere, K denotes a Conic constant, r denotes a height of the aspheric surface measured in a direction perpendicular to the optical axis 12, and parameters A-B shown in Table 2 are 4th and 6th order aspheric coefficients.
In the following design examples of the invention, a diffractive optical surface polynomial may be expressed as the following:
ϕ(r)=(2π/λ0)Σ Cnr2n
, where Φ(r) denotes a phase function of a diffractive optical element, r denotes a radial distance relative to the optical axis of the optical lens, and λ0 denotes a reference wavelength. That is, a diffractive optical surface is a lens surface superposed with a diffractive phase function. Parameters C1 and C2 shown in Table 3 are 2th and 4th order coefficients of the diffractive optical surface polynomial.
In the above Table 1, the field heading “thickness” represents a distance of two adjacent surfaces along the optical axis 12. For example, a thickness of the surface S1 is a distance between the surface S1 and the surface S2 along the optical axis 12, a thickness of the surface S2 is a distance between the surface S2 and the surface S3 along the optical axis 12, and a thickness of the surface S13 is a distance between the surface S13 of the cover glass 16 and the image plane 18 along the optical axis 12.
In one embodiment, an optical lens (such as the optical lens 10a and 10b) may include two lens groups and has an F number of 2.0, and the optical lens may have an aspheric lens with a diffractive optical surface to correct monochromatic and chromatic aberrations. Further, the optical lens may satisfy the following conditions:
0<|(Φd*V)/Φr|<2 (3)
20<V<60 (4)
|(0.5*IMA)/(EFL*TAN(X))−1|<0.45 (5)
TTL/IMA<3.5 (6)
−0.006<Φd/Φall<0 and Φall=1/EFL (7)
, where Φd denotes refractive power of a diffractive optical surface and equals C1/(−0.5) (Tables 3 and 6 list the value of C1), Φr denotes refractive power of the aspheric lens with the diffractive optical surface, V denotes an Abbe number of the aspheric lens with the diffractive optical surface, EFL denotes an effective focal length for visible light of the optical lens, and Φall denotes a reciprocal of the effective focal length EFL. Moreover, IMA denotes a maximum image circle of an image plane formed at an effective focal length for visible light, X denotes half of a maximum field of view, and TTL denotes a total track length (distance between the surface S1 and the image plane for visible light). Specifically, in case an optical lens is designed to meet the condition of (Φd*V)/Φr>2, chromatic aberrations as a result of wavelength differences between infrared light and visible light is excessively corrected and a focal plane for infrared light is shortened. In comparison, in case an optical lens is designed to meet the condition of (Φd*V)/Φr<−2, it may indicate that the optical lens has large diffraction power and a diffractive micro structure with excessively amounts of circles to result in high fabrication complexities. Further, in case an optical lens satisfies the condition of |(0.5*IMA)/(EFL*TAN(X))−1|>0.45, image distortions of the image plane formed at an effective focal length for visible light become large. Besides, in case an optical lens is designed to meet the condition of TTL/IMA>3.5, the occupied space of the optical lens is comparatively large and thus unfavorable for miniaturization. Therefore, the optical lens that satisfies the condition (3), (4), (5), (6) or (7) may achieve at least one advantage of good imaging quality, a high degree of miniaturization, low fabrication complexities, and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability.

The second lens group includes a first lens, a second lens and a third lens arranged in order in a direction away from the aperture stop. Each of the first lens and the second lens is an aspheric lens, and one of the first lens and the second lens has a diffractive optical surface.
According another embodiment of the invention, an optical lens includes a first lens group, a second lens group, and an aperture stop disposed between the first lens group and the second lens group. The first lens group includes a lens having negative refractive power, and the second lens group includes a lens having positive refractive power. The second lens group includes a first lens, a second lens and a third lens arranged in order in a direction away from the aperture stop. The optical lens according to the above embodiment may achieve at least one advantage of lighter weight, lower fabrication costs, good imaging quality and 24-hours confocal image-capturing capability.
