Claims
- 1. A control device for a living body, using an optical measurement method for the living body, comprising:
an input device for the living body, including: light incident means for launching light into the living body from at least one light incident position on a surface of the living body, collecting light means for collecting light obtained by causing the light incident from said light incident position to pass through the living body, at at least one light detection position on the surface of the living body, light detection means for detecting an intensity of said transmitted light collected by said collecting light means, operation means for determining a type of output signal, based on the intensity of said transmitted light, which has been detected by said light detection means and pre-stored reference data and for outputting the a signal indicative thereof, as an output signal of said input device, and memory means for storing the reference data therein; and a piece of external equipment for using the signal outputted from said input device as an input signal and executing a functional operation according to a type of said input signal.
- 2. A control device for a living body, using an optical measurement method for the living body, comprising:
light incident means for launching light into the living body from at least one light incident position on a surface of the living body; collecting light means for collecting light obtained by causing the light incident from said light incident position to pass through the living body, at at least one light detection position on the surface of the living body; light detection means for detecting an intensity of said transmitted light collected by said collecting light means; operation means for determining a type of output signal, based on the intensity of said transmitted light, which has been detected by said light detection means and pre-stored reference data and for outputting a signal indicative thereof; memory means for storing the reference data therein; and a piece of external equipment for using the signal outputted from said operation means as an input signal and executing a functional operation ac cording to a type of said input signal; said operation means determining by operation, an oxy-hemoglobin concentration change value, a deoxy-hemoglobin concentration change value or a total hemoglobin concentration change value at a desired measurement position in the living body from the intensity of the light passing through the living body, which has been measured by said light detection means, determining a desired characteristic parameter value from said change value by operation, and determining a type of output signal, based on the characteristic parameter value and the reference data stored in said memory means in advance and for outputting the signal indicative thereof.
- 3. A control device by a living body according to claim 2, wherein said characteristic parameter value is an integrated value of the oxy-hemoglobin concentration change value, the deoxy-hemoglobin concentration change value or the total hemoglobin concentration change value within an arbitrary measurement time, or a mean value of the oxy-hemoglobin concentration change value, the deoxy-hemoglobin concentration change value or the total hemoglobin concentration change value within an arbitrary measurement time, or an arbitrary frequency component of the oxy-hemoglobin concentration change value, the deoxy-hemoglobin concentration change value or the total hemoglobin concentration change value within an arbitrary measurement time, or a rate of change in the oxy-hemoglobin concentration change value, the deoxy-hemoglobin concentration change value or the total hemoglobin concentration change value within an arbitrary measurement time.
- 4. A control device for a living body, using an optical measurement method for the living body, said control device being suitable for use in the assistance of a driver of a vehicle, comprising:
light incident means for launching light into a brain of the vehicle driver from at least one light incident position on a scarf skin of a head of the driver; collecting light means for collecting light obtained by causing the incident light launched from said at least one light incident position to pass through the brain, at at least one light detection position on the scarf skin of the head; light detection means for detecting an intensity of the light passing through the brain, which has been collected by said collecting light means; operation means for determining a type of output signal, based on the intensity of an transmitted light detected by said light detection means and pre-stored reference data and outputting a signal indicative thereof; memory means for storing the reference data therein; and a microcomputer for using the signal outputted from said operation means as an input signal and generating a control signal for providing instructions for the execution of a functional operation corresponding to a type of said input signal; said operation means determining, based on the intensity of the transmitted light detected by said light detection means and the pre-stored reference data, whether the driver is in a dozing state, and outputting a dozing-state detection signal therefrom when said operation means has determined that the driver is in the dozing state; and said microcomputer generating a control signal for providing instructions for the operation of a warning generating device or a brake control system mounted to the vehicle in response to the dozing-state detection signal outputted from said operation means.
