Claims
- 1. In a multichrome projector, a method for producing a pixelated color image for display comprising the steps of:
- (a) splitting white light into a plurality of colored beams of light by an X-cube optical splitter;
- (b) infusing each of said colored beams with projectable image information by a light-modulation structure; and
- (c) recombining said plurality of colored beams of light by an X-cube optical combiner, wherein said infusing step includes a polarization method comprising the steps of:
- (d) polarizing at least one of the plural color beams of light in a first orientation; and
- (e) polarizing at least one other of the plural color beams of light in a second orientation that is different from the first orientation.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said second orientation is substantially perpendicular to said first orientation.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said first orientation is in the S-plane and wherein said second orientation is in the P-plane.
- 4. The method of claim 3, wherein step (d) is applied to red and blue beams of light and wherein step (e) is applied to a green beam of light.
- 5. In a multichrome projector, a method for producing a pixelated color image for display comprising the steps of:
- (a) splitting white light into a plurality of colored beams of light by an X-cube optical splitter;
- (b) infusing each of said colored beams with projectable image information by a light-modulation structure; and
- (c) recombining said plurality of colored beams of light by an X-cube optical combiner, wherein said infusing step includes the step of:
- (d) polarizing at least one selected beam out of said plurality of colored beams of light in an orientation such that after said recombining step, said at least one selected beam contains a first range of light wavelengths that partially overlaps a second range of light wavelengths of at least one other of said colored beams of light.
- 6. The method of claim 5, wherein said polarizing step is applied to each of said plural colored beams of light.
