Claims
- 1. An optical disk substrate formed of a polycarbonate resin represented by the general formula
- C.sub.6 H.sub.5 --C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --O--C(O)--[O--.phi.--Y--.phi.--O--C(O)--].sub.n O--C.sub.6 H.sub.4 --C(CH.sub.3).sub.2 --C.sub.6 H.sub.5, wherein .phi. is a phenylene radical and Y is a divalent radical in which one or two atoms separate the two .phi. units bonded thereto, and n is a positive integer.
- 2. An optical disk substrate as set forth in claim 1, wherein in the unit --.phi.--Y--.phi.-- the Y radical is selected from the class consisting of alkylene and alicyclic groups having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, substituted or unsubstituted with an aryl group, --O--, --S--, --SO--, --SO.sub.2 --, and --CO--, and the phenylene radicals are selected from phenylene and halogen and alkyl substituted phenylenes.
