Claims
- 1. An optical repeater for amplifying a data optical signal, comprising:
- an optical fiber amplifier including:
- a doped fiber inputting the data optical signal and a pumping light, and outputting the data optical signal,
- a pumping light source outputting the pumping light,
- a wavelength demultiplexer demultiplexing a first supervisory optical signal which is multiplexed with said data optical signal and transmitted,
- a first wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal and the pumping light, and
- a second wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal which is outputted from the doped fiber and a second supervisory optical signal in the same direction as that of the data optical signal; and
- a supervisory equipment including:
- a supervisory optical receiver coupled to the wavelength demultiplexer and receiving said first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory electric signal,
- a controller receiving said first supervisory electric signal, monitoring said first supervisory electric signal, and outputting a second supervisory electric signal, and
- a supervisory optical source coupled to the second wavelength multiplexer, receiving said second supervisory electric signal, and converting said second supervisory electric signal to said second supervisory optical signal.
- 2. An optical repeater according to claim 1, wherein said supervisory optical receiver detects power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 3. An optical repeater according to claim 1, further comprising:
- a coupler installed in the subsequent stage of said second wavelength multiplexer; and
- a band-pass filter for extracting the data optical signal from one of outputs of said coupler.
- 4. An optical repeater according to claim 1, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 5. An optical repeater according to claim 3, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said extracted data optical signal.
- 6. An optical repeater for amplifying a data optical signal comprising:
- an optical fiber amplifier including:
- a doped fiber inputting the data optical signal and a pumping light, and outputting the data optical signal,
- a pumping light source outputting the pumping light,
- a wavelength demultiplexer demultiplexing a first supervisory optical signal which is multiplexed with said data optical signal and transmitted,
- a first wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal and the pumping light, and
- a second wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal which is outputted from the doped fiber and a second supervisory optical signal in the same direction as that of the data optical signal; and
- a supervisory equipment including:
- a supervisory optical receiver coupled to the wavelength demultiplexer, receiving said first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory electric signal,
- a supervisory signal processor receiving said first supervisory electric signal, monitoring said first supervisory electric signal, and outputting a second supervisory electric signal, and
- a supervisory optical source coupled to the second wavelength multiplexer, receiving said second supervisory electric signal, and converting said second supervisory electric signal to said second supervisory optical signal,
- wherein wavelength of said second supervisory optical signal is substantially equal to wavelength of pumping light.
- 7. An optical repeater according to claim 6, wherein said supervisory optical receiver detects the power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 8. An optical repeater according to claim 6, further comprising:
- a coupler installed in the subsequent stage of said second wavelength multiplexer; and
- a band-pass filter extracting the data optical signal from one of outputs of said coupler.
- 9. An optical repeater according to claim 7, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 10. An optical repeater according to claim 8, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said extracted data optical signal.
- 11. An optical repeater for amplifying a data optical signal, comprising:
- an optical fiber amplifier including:
- a doped fiber inputting the data optical signal and first and second pumping light, and outputting an amplified data optical signal,
- first and second pumping light sources outputting said first pumping light and said second pumping light,
- a wavelength demultiplexer demultiplexing a first supervisory optical signal which is multiplexed with said data optical signal and transmitted,
- a first wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal and the first pumping light in the same direction as that of the data optical signal,
- a second wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the amplified data optical signal and the second pumping light in the opposite direction to that of the amplified data optical signal, and
- a third wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the amplified data optical signal and a second supervisory optical signal in the same direction as that of the data optical signal; and
- a supervisory equipment including:
- a supervisory optical receiver coupled to the wavelength demultiplexer, receiving said first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory electric signal,
- a supervisory signal processor receiving said first supervisory electric signal, monitoring said first supervisory electric signal, and outputting a second supervisory electric signal, and
- a supervisory optical source coupled to the third wavelength multiplexer, receiving said second supervisory electric signal, and converting said second supervisory electric signal to said second supervisory optical signal.
- 12. An optical repeater according to claim 11, wherein said supervisory optical receiver detects power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 13. An optical repeater according to claim 11, further comprising:
- a coupler installed in the subsequent stage of said second wavelength multiplexer; and
- a band-pass filter for extracting the data optical signal from one of outputs of said coupler.
- 14. An optical repeater according to claim 12, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 15. An optical repeater according to claim 13, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said extracted data optical signal.
- 16. An optical repeater for amplifying a data optical signal, comprising:
- an optical fiber amplifier including:
- a doped fiber inputting the data optical signal and a pumping light, and outputting an amplified data optical signal,
- first and second pumping light sources outputting first pumping light and a second pumping light,
- a wavelength demultiplexer demultiplexing a first supervisory optical signal which is multiplexed with said data optical signal and transmitted,
- a first wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the data optical signal and the first pumping light in the same direction as that of the data optical signal,
- a second wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the amplified data optical signal and the second pumping light in the opposite direction to that of the amplified data optical signal, and
- a third wavelength multiplexer multiplexing the amplified data optical signal and a second supervisory optical signal in the same direction as that of the data optical signal; and
- a supervisory equipment including:
- a supervisory optical receiver coupled to the wavelength demultiplexer, receiving said first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory electric signal,
- a supervisory signal processor receiving said first supervisory electric signal, monitoring said first supervisory electric signal, and outputting a second supervisory electric signal, and
- a supervisory optical source coupled to the third wavelength multiplexer, receiving said second supervisory electric signal, and converting said second supervisory electric signal to said second supervisory optical signal,
- wherein wavelength of said second supervisory optical signal is substantially equal to wavelength of least one of wavelengths of the first pumping light and the second pumping light.
- 17. An optical repeater according to claim 16, wherein said supervisory optical receiver detects the power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 18. An optical repeater according to claim 16, further comprising:
- a coupler installed in the subsequent stage of said second wavelength multiplexer; and
- a band-pass filter extracting the data optical signal from one of outputs of said coupler.
- 19. An optical repeater according to claim 17, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 20. An optical repeater according to claim 18, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said extracted data optical signal.
- 21. An optical repeater for amplifying a data optical signal, comprising:
- an optical fiber amplifier including:
- a doped fiber inputting the data optical signal and a pumping light, and outputting the data optical signal,
- first and second pumping light sources outputting a first pumping light and a second pumping light,
- a wavelength demultiplexer demultiplexing a first supervisory optical signal which is multiplexed with the data optical signal and transmitted,
- a first wavelength multiplexer for multiplexing the data optical signal and the first pumping light in the same direction as that of the data optical signal.
- a second wavelength multiplexer for multiplexing the data optical signal and the second pumping light in the opposite direction to that of the data optical signal, and
- a third wavelength multiplexer for multiplexing the data optical signal and a second supervisory optical signal in the same direction as that of the data optical signal; and
- a supervisory equipment including:
- a supervisory optical receiver coupled to the wavelength demultiplexer, receiving said first supervisory optical signal, and outputting a first supervisory electrical signal,
- a supervisory signal processor receiving said first supervisor electrical signal, monitoring said first supervisory electric signal, and outputting a second supervisory electric signal, and
- a supervisory optical source coupled to the third wavelength multiplexer, receiving said second supervisory electric signal, and converting said second supervisory electric signal to said second supervisor optical signal,
- wherein wavelength of said first pumping light is substantially equal to wavelength of said second pumping light.
- 22. An optical repeater according to claim 21, wherein said supervisory optical receiver detects the power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 23. An optical repeater according to claim 21, further comprising:
- a coupler installed in a subsequent stage of said second wavelength multiplexer and
- a band-pass filter extracting the data optical signal from one of the outputs of said coupler.
- 24. An optical repeater according to claim 22, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said first supervisory optical signal.
- 25. An optical repeater according to claim 23, wherein said supervisory signal processor monitors said power of said extracted data optical signal.
- 26. An optical repeater according to claim 24, wherein said wavelength of said first pumping light and said wavelength of said second pumping light are substantially equal to 1.48 .mu.m.
