The disclosure relates to hygiene devices and more particularly pertains to a new hygiene device for performing oral hygiene.
The prior art relates to hygiene devices including a powered dental cleaner that includes a string that coupled to a spool and which can be threaded through a flossing implement. The prior art discloses a flossing device that includes a flossing head which has a vibration unit integrated therein for vibrating the flossing head. The prior art discloses a vibrating oral hygiene device that includes a vibrating flossing head. The prior art discloses a powered toothbrush that includes a pair of rotating bristles.
An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a handle that is elongated for reaching into a user's mouth. A vibration unit is integrated into the handle and the vibration unit has an output shaft extending outwardly from the handle. The output shaft vibrates when the vibration unit is turned on. A plurality of heads is provided and a respective one of the heads is removably attachable to the output shaft of the vibration unit such that the vibration vibrates the respective head.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A vibration unit 22 is provided and the vibration unit 22 is integrated into the handle 12. The vibration unit 22 has an output shaft 24 extending outwardly from the handle 12 and the output shaft 24 vibrates when the vibration unit 22 is turned on. Moreover, the output shaft 24 extends outwardly through the upper end 16 of the handle 12. The vibration unit 22 may comprise an electric motor that has an eccentric axis of rotation to produce vibration when the electric motor is turned on.
A plurality of heads 26 is provided and a respective one of the heads 26 is removably attachable to the output shaft 24 of the vibration unit 22 such that the vibration unit 22 vibrates the respective head 26. Each of the heads 26 has a bottom end 28, the bottom end 28 has a well 30 extending inwardly therein and the well 30 in the respective head engages the output shaft 24. The plurality of heads 26 includes a flossing head 32 and a tongue scraping head 34. The flossing head 32 includes a pair of fingers 36 that are spaced apart from each other and a line 38 extending between the fingers 36 for flossing between teeth. The fingers 36 are distally positioned with respect to the bottom end 28. The tongue scraping head 34 has a first surface 40 that is flattened and the first surface 40 is textured for scraping the user's tongue. The tongue scraping head 34 may include a scraping pad 41 that is positioned on the first surface 40 for scraping the user's tongue. Additionally, the first surface 40 is distally positioned with respect to the bottom end 38. Each of the fingers 36 is oriented to be vertically aligned with each other. Additionally, the fingers 36 extend away from the flossing head 32 at an upward angle with respect to the bottom end 28 of the flossing head 32.
A power button 42 is movably positioned on the handle 12 and the power button 42 is electrically coupled to the vibration unit 22. The power button 42 turns the vibration unit 22 on and off. A power supply 44 is integrated into the handle 12 and the power supply 44 is electrically coupled to the power button 42. The power supply 44 comprises at least one rechargeable battery 46 that is positioned within the handle 12. The at least one rechargeable battery 46 is electrically coupled to the power button 42. The power supply 44 includes a power port 48 that is recessed into the outer wall 18 of the handle 12 to receive a charge cord. The power port 48 is electrically coupled to the at least one rechargeable battery 46 for charging the at least one rechargeable battery 46.
In an alternative embodiment 50 as is most clearly shown in
In use, the chosen head 26 is attached to the output shaft 24 depending on the user's preference for flossing their teeth or cleaning their tongue. The power button 42 is depressed to turn on the vibration unit 22 for vibrating the chosen head 26. In this way the process of flossing teeth or cleaning the tongue is enhanced with vibration. The rechargeable battery 46 is charged as is necessary to ensure normal operation.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
