Claims
- 1. A detergent composition comprising at least one surface active agent selected from the group consisting of amphoteric surface active agents and anionic surface active agents; and a fatty acid ester of a hexose or an alkyl glycoside thereof, wherein the content of monoester is from 94 to 99.8% by weight, the content of diester is from 0.2 to 5% by weight and the content of tri- and higher polyesters is from 0 to 1% by weight in said fatty acid ester.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 which comprises at least one surface active agent selected from the group consisting of higher alcohol sulfate salts, amino acid surface active agents, C.sub.10-18 .alpha.-olefin sulfonates, succinate salts, polyoxyethylene alkyl ethers, alkylamine oxides, and fatty acid alkanolamides.
- 3. The composition of claim 1 which comprises polyethylene glycol.
- 4. A detergent composition, comprising:
- (a) a nonionic surface active agent; and
- (b) polyethylene glycol;
- wherein said nonionic surface active agent comprises a fatty acid ester of a hexose, or an alkyl glycoside thereof, and has a monoester content of 93 to 99.9% by weight, a diester content of 0.1 to 7% by weight, and a tri- and higher polyesters content of 0 to 1% by weight in said fatty acid ester.
- 5. The detergent composition according to claim 4, wherein the content of said monoester is from 96 to 99.8% by weight, the content of said diester is from 0.2 to 4% by weight, and the content of said tri- and higher polyesters is from 0 to 0.5% by weight in said fatty acid ester.
- 6. The detergent composition according to claim 1, wherein the fatty acid moiety of said fatty acid ester contains 6 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 7. The detergent composition according to claim 6, wherein said fatty acid moiety of said fatty acid ester contains 6 to 12 carbon atoms.
- 8. The detergent composition according to claim 4, wherein the fatty acid moiety of said fatty acid ester contains 6 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 9. The detergent composition according to claim 8, wherein said fatty acid moiety of said fatty acid ester contains 6 to 12 carbon atoms.
- 10. A composition comprising at least two nonionic surface active agents, wherein each of said nonionic surface active agents comprise different fatty acid esters of a hexose, or an alkyl glycoside thereof; said fatty acid esters having a monoester content of 93 to 99.9% by weight, a diester content of 0.1 to 7% by weight, and a tri- and higher polyester content of 0 to 1% by weight of said fatty acid esters.
- 11. The composition according to claim 10, comprising a first nonionic surface active agent that comprises a monooctanoate of glucose or a glucoside thereof, and a second nonionic surface active agent which comprises a monodecanoate of glucose or a glucoside thereof; the weight ratio of said monooctanoate of glucose or glucoside to said monodecanoate of glucose or glucoside being in the range of from 95:5 to 10:90.
- 12. An oral or detergent composition comprising fatty acid esters of a hexose, or a glycoside thereof; and an additional suitable ingredient; said fatty acid esters having a monoester content of from 93 to 99.9% by weight, a diester content of from 0.1 to 7% by weight, and a tri- and higher polyester content of 0 to 1% by weight of said fatty acid esters.
- 13. The composition according to claim 12, wherein the content of said monoester is from 96 to 99.8% by weight, the content of said diester is from 0.2 to 4% by weight, and the content of said tri- and higher polyesters is from 0 to 0.5% by weight of said fatty esters.
- 14. The composition according to claim 12, wherein said additional ingredient is selected from the group consisting of water-soluble salts of alkyl sulfates, N-acylamino acids and N-acylmethyl taurines.
- 15. The composition according to claim 12, wherein said additional ingredient is selected from the group consisting of foam improvers, emulsifying agents, emollients, viscosity improvers, preservatives, UV-absorbers, dandruff removers, pigments, and perfumes.
- 16. The composition according to claim 12, wherein the fatty acid moiety of said fatty acid esters contains 6 to 20 carbon atoms.
- 17. The composition according to claim 16, wherein said monoester is selected from the group consisting of glucose-6-caprylmonoester, glucose-6-decanoate monoester, glucose-6-laurylmonoester, glucose-6-myristylmonoester, glucose-6-palmitylmonoester, glucose-6-oleylmonoester, glucose-6-.gamma.-linolate monoester, 1-methyl-6-caprylglucoside, 1-ethyl-6-caprylglucoside, 1-ethyl-6-laurylglucoside, 1-butyl-6-caprylglucoside, 1-ethyl-6-palmitylglucoside and 1-ethyl-6-oleylglucoside.
